I don't think Ryan Dinwiddie should be critical of anyone's arm strength

  • Absolute master class from Dinwiddie on how to show everyone that you were propped up by incredible scouting in Toronto

  • Super Duper Negatron

"Dru is a quarterback that would see acres of open space downfield and choose to run for a first down. I want a QB that will throw an INT instead" - Ryan Dinwiddie, probably

Opinion. Not fact.

Would be opinion if it weren't factual. Streveler was not a good or accurate passer. That my friend can be seen in his stats, and game tape. That makes it fact, not opinion. Are you suggesting that the sole reason for Strev's awful passing stats are solely a function of his OC? That would be opinion and one that overlooks the fact that he would regularly miss his targets.

Dru coming back 'home' so to speak, is not a bad move...You don't get a shot at a starting quarterback via trade very often in this league...we took it...So what we have is a gunslinger in Brown and a very capable Perkins who can run and a very good talent in the wings in Elgersma....Not too shabby.....Along with Brown comes a top pick which probably cinched the deal..When Zack decides to hit the road we have a very capable bunch chomping at the bit in 27'..bodes well for us no matter how you shake it down..Once Dru gets climatized I'd like to see him get a start..Looks like this is going to be a lot of fun regarding the pivot spot the rest of the way in 26'

When did Dinwiddie see Brown? Every single day in practice. Every single day in the QB room. At this point in his career, Brown is a QB who showed promise, got a starting job based on that promise, and had some good games. His new coach didn't see him as part of the solution. Quite frankly, choosing Maier and MBT over Brown is pretty damning. I'm sure that the redblacks shopped Dru to all the teams. We gave them the most value. That tells me where the rest of the teams stand on Dru. Not worth a 1st & possibly a 2nd round draft pick & who wouldn't give that up for a 'starting' QB?

In Wpg, Brown upgrades our backup QB spot. We now have a chance if Collaros goes down that we didn't really have before the trade. That's worth the price to us.

We now have the opportunity to pull Zach if he struggles a bit. Give him a few minutes on the sideline to settle down, then put him back in. With Dru we don't really drop off much while Zach gets back into game mode!

It's wild here seeing people giving Dinwiddie the benefit of doubt here picking his guy over Brown but then in the Bombers regular season thread you'll see a dozen complaints about O'Shea managing the roster picking his guys.

Can Dru play any sort of Defence 😬

Difference is all the guys Dinwiddie was choosing from/between do deserve to be on a pro roster or playing regularly...some of oshea's have no business with regular play...let alone being on a roster...huge difference

Dinwiddie also took 2 cups from oshea...partly due to a better roster and use of players...and not being afraid to pull a vet or sit one down...Osh...never

That may happen sooner than most think. Collaros has gotten more brittle every year and our O-line has not quite gelled yet.

I'm seeing exactly 1 person give him the benefit of doubt. Sticking with Maier will 100% backfire on Dinnwiddie and he'll be stuck starting a never was in MBT with little to no hope for the future.

For the player or the coach?

A lot of people, the Argos included, thought that Zach was cooked in 2019. These years since then have been a blessing. Imagine if there had been no COVID, we probably would have won in 2020 and then three-peated in 2021. But it now is time to pass the torch after the end of this season.

Um MOS has not at all shown that I can remember during his tenure here where he has pulled his starting QB because he was struggling almost to the point of Starting QB: 'Coach my left arm is broken. Response: You're right handed (as he points to the back up qb) and we aint putting that guy in.

I thought he pulled Zach in Calgary. Dru came in and won the game

If so I sit corrected but let’s just say it’s very very rare MOS will point to his 2nd string QB as his starting QB continues to struggle.

dinwiddie sure didn’t mince words on brown lol. He clearly went into it not wanting brown and didn’t give him much of a chance to win his job back.

Maier isn’t a better passer to any area of the field, browns arm is no issue. Jake’s best game is at best a mediocre outting for brown.

I had a memory like this too but when I looked back at the 2023 season I saw that the only time that Dru replaced Zach was when Zach was banged up against Edmonton on 8/10. That was the big game against Edmonton where he brought us back from being down 22-0.

Dru started the next week against Calgary when Zach was unavailable. First win as a starter for him.

Ya I can't recall a time Zach was pulled other than due to concussion protocol.

Dinwiddie talking about how Maier has a better arm despite Dru having a better average yardage on completed passes is funny. Maier was throwing mainly short passes going back to him starting in Calgary years ago.
