I’m at camp today. First observation is DeShaan Dixon has the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen on a football player.

  • It’s starting to feel like, a week in, it’s business as usual and we haven’t learned much. Still looks like we’re getting ready to trot out 8-9 Canadians for no reason and value experience above every

Bailey released for sure.

Must have asked for it cuz why not announce at the same time. Either that or perhaps off field issues happened and they let him go. Cuz why let him go hours later.

… or maybe they just forgot to list him originally

That has to be a "wouldn't take a PR spot" thing, but can't imagine why they wouldn't have him on the AR...

Isn't Bailey one of the ones Booch has been banging a drum for since the start of last year? I thought he was supposed to be really good but just hurt all the time ..

Booch also beat the drums on a few defensive ends who ended up being average who signed in Hamilton last year so maybe the DE knowledge is the over rated. Nothing in this post should be offensive to anyone. Fact. Fan forum. In the end, just fans. Maybe that offends tho. So I’ll say booch is a knowledgeable poster on MBB.com but like all of us is wrong so very much about certain players.

Maybe they forgot to tell him

Does that leave Sheahan as our only global player? Weird

I very much doubt it. Because that leaves us with 1 global on the AR, and 0 on the PR. This is a position we have not been in since the introduction of the global rule, and would leave us 1 injury away from not being able to complete a roster.

Since you get up to 3 global PR spots, which are not counted against the PR, I expect Bailey and Andrews refused the PR.

Bailey did dip for a good while in the last pre-season game; he might have gotten hurt and be out a long time as well.

Yes, it does. And yeah, it is weird.

Im sure we will now have to go through other teams' cuts to find someone for the PR.

There's literally like 200 Aussie punters sitting by their phones in the US waiting for a gig.

If we needed one here tomorrow, we could have one.

Based on pre-season, there's very little point to having both Gatkuoth and Bailey active. They are both going to have same utility as 2nd and long rotational ends, with limited utility on special teams. I'm guessing they offered Bailey PR because he doesn't take a spot from anyone else Canadian or American on the PR.

Would be nice to get a look at Vesterinen as an interior guy if he shakes loose from NFL Pathway Program.

"Nuts to that I'll just call Thiadric Hansen" - Mike O'Shea... probably

It looks like the available position player globals are our old friends Maruo, Hansen plus rookies to game play at DL yondjouen and miangue

I mean we don't have a backup punter either.

If Sheahan gets hurt we call in another of the hundreds of Aussie punters.

We don't need to have a backup for every spot on the PR.

He looked great in the *one* camp day I saw, but did virtually nothing in either preseason game. I’m more surprised that he was cut and the Korndog was put on the pr. How many dl does that leave us who aren’t American? Lawson, Gatkouth, & ?

That honestly wouldn’t surprise me.

Shitload of LB's and DB's though, both nationalities.

Maybe Younger finally convinced the brain trust to go 3-3-6 primarily. Griffin/Woodbey as the SHARK.

.....Hansen an Osh big fav.....He still talks about the 2 special teams guys Thiadric took out in the Cup game a few years back....Osh keepin' on keepin' on

Can you tell me more about the SHARK and what it entails?

Not seeing Singer on the active is a little strange....What else does the kid have to do to prove himself,,,,Frederickson I can see on the pr otherwise .....Didn't like the fact we dumped the Aussie kickers...The first game Sheehan starts effin' up and gets back to his shanking game I'm going to get a tad upset....I hope we're up for the CAL game ...Our regs haven't played much and will be a little rusty but hey, apparently Osh has all the answers

Yeah. We find some good DBs and pretty much bugger all else.

I dont like but can understand the Bailey cut. Gatkuoth and Bailey were vying for the same role and we really need Gatkuoth's passport on that unit. In a ratio world tough choices need to be made sometimes.

we’ve seen more then 100% turn over in scouts from 19/21 to now. even with different scouts we see the same problems.

For one, it’s extremely rare that you find a top contributor from scouting at a position of need. Generally, teams excel at developing/scouting/using a couple positions and the majority of their young talent develops at positions of strength.

For two, outside of extreme outlier players/positions it’s usually the 2nd year players who take massive steps. This is where roster management kills us. You could have the right guys, but not use them/keep them and each year repeat the same struggles even despite talent brought in.

So who’s at fault? well the staffs have mostly rolled over. Mos, walter, and mac are the remaining common pieces. Mos’ weakness exacerbates walter’s issues. mos is 100% at fault, and walters is also 100% at fault. no splitting it. That said, it is walter’s job to mitigate and prevent compound issues like that.

I will say that I feel like we’ve seen a bit of growth this year getting away from some of the issues. how much and if it’s enough, will depend on how the rosters look in the first month.

I will add that the camp talent level the two years is trending in the wrong direction. And I think danny mac’s’ position is too cushy for how high he is in the org.

I think we had a lot of answers at the positions of need this camp. But I think our roster direction is Atypical and risky. 3 ni wrs, 3 imp ol, defensive front etc.

The only direction if this doesn’t go well is whole sale change at high level positions. We’ve put together a very strong potential roster. If our old guys stay healthy and if we play the proper young guys.

Do we really though? To me this is a continuation of the problems this defense has had. Neglecting depth on the DL and dressing more linebackers than we really need.
