Is it just me or does it seem counterintuitive to pay up for the "ratio breakers" with the way O'Shea uses his roster?

Don't get me wrong, I know the CFL is all about how good your Canadian talent is, but part of me thinks there's no point paying 250k+ for a star Canadian RB/DB/WR/whatever because we aren't maximizing our roster with the ratio to play the most American talent anyways.

With the way MOS just plays 8-9+ marginal Canadian starters and rotates in 3-4 more, we'd almost be better off with 10-12 good but not great Canadians and save our money overpaying for the Canadian starter at a non-traditional position.  I wish we would utilize the fact that we have the luxury of a Canadian RB by using the extra American on the DL or OL, but instead most games we just trot out 7+ more Canadians at the regular spots too...

That's been the complaint about Osh for years. He trots out extra Canadians at positions where we have better American players. It goes on every year & then he scratches his head wondering why it didn't work in big games that we needed to win. he has never maximized our roater properly. We really don't know how good we can be.

They want the extra draft pick so they can squander it on another jobber.

Take this for whats its worth, a friend of mine knows a person very close to Oliveira and he was told today that the Bombers are close to signing Brady to a 3 year 900K contract. Story is if the Bombers wont/dont, then the Argos will.

Ouch....pass.....Unless bonus laden or marketing not against the cap

Having almost 1 million tied into ZC and who knows what we are gonna get....and in BO who last 2 yrs has been a bit of an injury concern...as he been playing not 100 percent alot....thats almost crippling...Especially of ZC is just continuing on the blah trajectory and BO is battling injuries again

You can get a FA back for half that at most...or a entry level guy at a quarter of the cost and get just as good production,

If true and he signs here he better be fed the rock like there's no tomorrow with a bohemeth athletic Oline/Dline that we invested in for 2026.

Walter’s who brought us two extremely strong draft classes back to back, a couple great canadian talent trades, and a bumper crop of rookies like vaval, allen, woodbey, and the rookie ends who dominated in their one game. The same who already has us with the next group of high end imp ol in rando, who would’ve been an acclaimed all star on any other play off team maybe gotten nfl looks, and vanterpool who barely played but was our best ol when he did.

The huge majority of the problem lays at the feet of mos. Walters hasn’t been perfect by any means, but we’ve seen him have the best free agent periods in the league while here when he has money to spend. He’s handed out some over pays for sure. And we’ve lost guys. But the team from top to bottom was in a maintain stage. If we are really in a re tool phase and it sure looks like we are, I wouldn’t pick any other gm in the league to do the job over him.

Walter's has brought in guys....and who knows what the guys we cut in camp who showed really well would have done if we didnt do the usual and gift spots to dead weight coach's favs

The key thing this yr is Osh needs to smarten up and roster...and THEN play his best talent...and use his ratio to best compliment the team and talent here...not his lame carved in stone this is where we play Canadians regardless if they not the best.......basically his whole time here

Aslo...maybe shelf his vision of playing excessive Canadians just cause he has a Maple Leaf flag up his keister, when it doesnt benefit us...just soothes his ego...agenda...whatever the heck it is, but it's utterly pointless

You dont need a ratio breaker to succeed...and generally the guy behind him if said ratio breaker gets hurt is not even close to being a quality starter...and factor in how here he cnt fathom the idea to switch his ratio to account for that, and just puts out a sub par lineup, well you get crap like we have witnessed

Also...if you do say happen to find a Canadian backup who is at par...and likely wont be a rookie...you paying premium x2 for one spot, and bastardizing your roster elsewhere...like we have seen

yup...just what I was saying...His Canadiana agenda is a real Achilles heal for us...especially for most part when he favours guys who would be hard pressed to even make a starting roster elsewhere...some even making roter at all

**** the extra pick....not gonna rally make a lick of difference anyway...especially with what we draft after our first 1..2 picks...U can get a better player in FA with experience coming off a rookie deal on the cheap

thing is tho...can he take that beating all yr....hasnt been able to do so last few yrs....And my opinion is he isnt a RB with a style to sustain a long career playing how he has to to be effective....and he is by no means a explosive back who can bust a TD from anywhere on the field and can morph his game

Love him...but soon to be 29...battering ram style runner...injuries starting to become an issue....To me doesn't seem like the smartest move...hometown hero and all

Whether it’s BO or not, how much do we invest to maximize controlling both lines of scrimmage, establish the run to open up the offensive playbook and regularly disrupt opposing QB’s making life easier for our db’s, halfbacks and safeties?

Of it was me...I'd target the best Dline guy available, the best oline guy available to us, and a difference maker LB if one is there for the pickings....the fact we have a plugger like Jones...possibly re-upping Wilson shouldnt be a reason we dont go after one....that be just status quo of previous yrs with pre-determined roster spots regardless of who's available or who pops off page in TC...If we cn do that...draft well....recruit well then I think we dont even need to chase the highest priced WR....But sign a solid and consistent guy and do solid scouting to compliment Pokey...Demski...and whoever else shows up best in camp

Walters is doing the same thing he has since we became an elite team. He goes looking for underappreciated players that he can get for 'reasonable' price that he hopes will take the next step. When they work out, he's a great GM, when they don't he isn't.

That would be a game changer.  If his cap hit was only 100-150k, I'm taking that all day.

Only way I can see it being sensible
