That's how it works on our team, and every other team out there. Our lack of talent is 100% on the GM. We sit here and grouse about guys like Jake Thomas, but it is Kyle Walters that keeps putting contracts in front of him. Every offseason is an opportunity for the GM to get rid of or keep talent. The HC does not have any form of final say on the roster in that time. It is 100% the GM's job and responsibility as to who will be out there come June. If you know you have a player that you should move on from, even if he is a coaches favorite, it is 100% (and this can't even be disputed) up to the GM to have a tough conversation with a player and the coach who loves him and then swing the axe. It amazes me that you would think otherwise. During the season, it is tougher on the GM to do that for sure, but at the end of the day he is the boss and the HC is the employee. If that is not the way it works in Winnipeg then Walters isn't doing his job properly. This isn't some new phenomenon, for crissakes Walters signed Collaros to a 2 year extension the year after he clearly looked cooked. Is that on MOS? Not a chance. We've been talking about Thomas for the better part of 3 years now. Walters re-upped him twice. Walters hands out the contracts not MOS. wbbfan 1

I'm happy he's staying... but nervous about who he wants to stay with him... please, please, please no Jake and Kolo... and as much as I still see a role for Willie (and even Vaughters)... If I had to choose those two or the two raw rookies we saw in game 18... I'll take the rookies Noeller, JohnnyAbonny, wpgallday1960 and 1 other 2 2
Brandon Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Willie has a role... but the problem is that every season he acts as his own agent and believes that he is the #1 guy in the league. The drop off this season was considerable and I don't think him taking a hair cut on a deal is going to work. Some other team will offer him beaucoup dollars. I'm just hoping that we have fresh blood as an OC (someone who at least has a positive track record and not a complete unknown) and no more C level guys being signed to sit on a bench. We need 2 - 3 difference makers. Bigblue204 1

I'll take the rookies Willie is one of my all time favourite Bombers, and even I can see that he needs to be more of a complimentary piece at this stage of his career. I’d like to see him stay on in that role but we need to have new guys as the primary DE’s. Edited November 14 by JohnnyAbonny bigg jay, Noeller, Bubba Zanetti and 2 others 2 3

Yep, I’m not too surprised. But i’m pretty disappointed. You can bank on a run it back season next year. Kola, Thomas, Hogan, kyrie, walking corpse of schoen and strev back if he wants. Wonder if we lose walters, jy or Marty. Expectations for the off season and next year are in the basement. Would love it if i’m wrong, but wouldn’t bet some one else money on it. 5 minutes ago, JohnnyAbonny said: https://3downnation.com/2025/11/14/official-kyle-walters-to-return-as-winnipeg-blue-bombers-general-manager-in-2026/ Walters back too That’s interesting and answers one of my questions. BBlink Posted November 15 Report Posted November 15 I was at the point where I was fine either way. But now that Osh is back I hope he takes his own advice and learns from this past season. You can't just roll with the same guys forever. Vets are good, but they can't be the washed up, banged up, career is up kind. This offseason will be very telling. rebusrankin, JohnnyAbonny, Bubba Zanetti and 2 others 5
