they are both not what they used to be so could be ok. And I’m all for Case or whoever really. Mitchell is obviously an extremely slow learner. I mean at this point I think you cut him unless I dunno but the elks stink seems to be difficult to remove. Gotta wonder how much coaching he actually got in Edmonton and the dumpster fire. As for Bryant, I feel it should be easy to replace American O tackles and defensive ends for that matter.

I believe we can get better pressure with better rotation. We need another actual DE on the roster. Looking at the forecast 24C 90% chance of rain and wildfire air advisories.....if we are under 8 and even able to play, it will be Smokey and humid, guys will will need rotation on Friday.

As for "this next game will tell a lot"... I'm not sure it does if we're missing two really impactful players on O. Yes, everyone is a starter... I definitely get that.... But it's not like we're responding this week with the same line up as last week. 

I am hopeful for a win in front of another sold out raucous crowd, but Calgary is gonna make it way harder than it needs to be. 

0'Shea is making things a lot more difficult than it has to be- doesn't need any help from Calgary at all.

well if we all being honest and remove the blue glasses and and Osh worshipping, our WR core is worst in league,... worst dline in league......bar none.....one of the poorest use of rostering and usage of rules regarding it afforded to us in league game in and game out...,,and not a stretch to say one of the worst if not the worst team in league related to depth now

We have some real good prospects but will never know how good, or give them the chance to find out....but right now cant be considered depth of any kind because they wont get used

I think the number of free agents (especially players who finished their first contracts) that leave here & the lack of impact free agent signings from other teams the previous few season tells a story of the real unhappiness & morale on the team, in general. Players are now leaving even if they're offered the money they want to stay. Gone are the days when we could reup as many veterans as we want.

Name one player who left for the same money we offered.  Arguments could be made that some players may be frustrated with usage but you are creating fiction to try and back it up. This team does NOT have unhappiness and poor morale nor have I heard of any players leaving due to that or us missing out on FAs for any other reason than cold hard cash. Name one player that has left here and has stated anything negative about their time here. ONE. I'm waiting.

Mitchell has played some slot in his career but the Elks clearly felt he was a WR. For his career I've got him with 151 targets at WR and 55 in the slot--73% WR is pretty high. When they signed Geno Lewis in 2023 they tried Mitchell in the slot but eventually bumped him out to Z.

Watching his '24 and '23 Sunday night Mitchell had some real struggles with the waggle...more hesitant than most guys. How much was him and how much was the bad QB situations in Edmonton...who knows.

Ssshhh....don't let facts get in the way of a good old O'Shea bashing that's going on here.

Mitchell has proven he can play and make a difference.....Case has not....and is not the type of receiver we need either

Part of our narrative here as well is that guys are able and supposed to play in different positions...so if he is unable to...which is B.S then why is he here?

People can make all kinds of lists they want...and cherry puck stats/facts.....but he has flaws as all do....and stubbornly wont change them and they have cost us dearly....and not just a one time blip....its ongoing....

We are a really good team, we are still one of the best in the league, yes we have a couple guys long in the tooth, and yes rookies don't get on our roster as quick as some other teams, and yes for some unknown to us reason we don't dress a real back-up DE.......and we definitely discuss these concerns, as this forum is for, but with so much negativity in the mainstream news, fires in our backyard and the crap going on in other parts of the world etc. I like to try and focus on the positives where I can.

-A win has us tied for first, far better than last year's start.....

-The teams finances are the envy of the league...

-We are facing down our 8th sellout....

-We have improved beer choices at the game.....

-When we go to Sask. we get to leave after.....

 

Go Blue, we will be rested and have solid film to work off, let's get back in W column!

Great...he has flaws...ALL coaches do. All coaches tend to be stubborn as well especially when their stubborness results in 5 straight Grey Cup appearances. If you are arguing that MOS has flaws you have no argument, if you are arguing he is not a very good HC then the facts and lists you speak of are completely applicable because they demonstrate elite success levels. Suggesting lists and facts as "cherry picking" is like you pointing to roster management on a daily basis as somehow negating all the excellent work he does as a HC to make this team a top contender year in and year out. That, too, is cherry picking your argument.

Their is a heck of a lot more positive then negative to discuss, but we don't hear it much around here. We have another team this year that looks like it will challenge for a Grey Cup. Anyone thinking that should be automatic and without adversity is dreaming in technicolor. We will have highs and lows all season long that hopefully will culminate in another Grey Cup. This team steamrolled through it's first 3 games, got humbled in one. This is not some kind of disaster. We are still a top tier team capable of winning it all.

Apparently for a few around here this ongoing concern about our DL is just a bunch of Jake hate.

Bonus observation: Any concern about our roster management is just a guise to slag MOS.

the stubbornness tho has resulted in 3 straight avoidable losses...that cant be ignored and the fact he STILL refuses to alter hios ways cant be either....thats my gripe

I agree he has more good qualities than bad....but the bad ones are fatal ones....and that has to change.

That being said he is not the be all end all and if we were to move on...or he was to choose to move on...we'd be just fine....and could be even better too...who knows....But I doubt we would find another guy who refuses to use the rules allowed cause he doesn't like them....or refuse to play his best players too....

We have a good team....yeah...not great...and looks to be one of the weaker ones in the last 5 yrs tho, as other teams have clearly got better....so right now until I see a few more games and maybe a bit of a shift in what we do....I not super convinced we will be challenging for anything yet
