My different take on that. We're not sure when Lawson will be back and Thomas proved he's our most durable DL and knows Younger/Hall system the most. So, why not give most of the reps to Schmekel and Kornelson?

That makes sense. Honestly though I don't think either Shcmekel or Kornelson is good enough to be in a regular rotation.

I love shmekels motor and willingness to contribute. Nice utility too. But man, he doesn’t turn that into any thing in play on dl. I’d convert him to a ol. Hes a last Canadian on the roster guy, and kornelson looks like a tc body to me.

All 3 not named Lawson are if ranked probably the 3 worst national DTs in the league...there's that too...and if a dt is not required for ratio..which it isn't then the smarter move to have your best defence is to give the imports the majority of the reps and figure out the most impactful and versatile

I like him- he is very quick but not fast. A good nose tackle. I noted that he has a marine-type shaved haircut, which would make him a short-haired Pointer.

He actually is fast as a dt, and he is not a pro nose. Hes a 3 tech here. He does have the punch move, bull rush or power to play  nose.

Lawson basically has had 1 real major injury

Not that I don't like Jake..he just not good...or best option last few yrs and now serves zero purpose...zero upside..and just slows down any transition another yr...and vet leadership? ..we have tons so that "excuse/reasoning" holds zero validity as well

At least we get spared clips of camp tippy toes….

Year after year there are at least one or two vids of Kola getting absolutely destroyed by a DT.  Last year it was either Adams or Woods making him look stupid.  Just saw a clip of #94, Adams again - put Kola on roller skates.  Just insane that the team doesn’t see any need to upgrade center.

Walters, Osh & Younger don't feel the need to upgrade the DL at the 0-2 techs either. Haven't since we last won the GC in 2021. Coincidence????? We play like we constantly eat Cheetos on the defensive line. Worst in the CFL.

Adams and Woods were either left off the game day roster or hurt for long stretches last year.

I do see your point though, having our DT’s brutalize Kola in camp actually isn’t saying much… but the dl was still better during rare live snaps when JT was on the sideline.

JT taking most of the snaps and not having a Nevis or Stove type next to him for sure been a key issue.  Really bad composition and use of DE rotation also frustrating to see.

Adams was never hurt....Woods got dinged but when have we not played dinged players? 🤔 I guess you need to be an Osh fav to get that privilege. I know for a fact Parker was ready to go well over a month before they "claimed" he was ready....and he was none to pleased about being parked too

Like center on the oline....you need a legit Nose....dt...3 tech...what have you for the others to be able to eat....and we choose to for 80% of reps play scrubs like Thomas and Schmeck...sometimes both at ame damn time...and well...you see how succesful our dline has been...particularly the last 2 yrs

I dont care who is on the dline...Candian...American...Chinese...hell an alien from the moon for all I care as long as they earned it in legit battle in TC and can maintain it for the season ...and if someone shows better in practice as the yr progresses...well then insert away...Thats how it used to be in football from my experience...this handing of jibs to guys just cause...or because they been here a while...or they have some attribute Osh think's that awards them the job even tho they notthe best candidate needs to go
