I noticed D'Abreau (or however he spells it) a bunch too, but if rivers is a guy they've been high on for a while he will naturally get more chances

Obviously based on more than just the games. Obviously rivers is more impressive in these practices nobody on here attends. ;)

I thought Rivers looked good in the game.

I was whelmed but I’m sure there’s something they’re seeing in practice. I liked Rivers as a signing to begin with, so if he’s coming on strong that’s great

No surprise, which ever rookie comes out on top, likely to be parked on the PR behind Haba and Garbutt.

I really like what Walters and the team are doing with their DL so far, they’re really committed on getting a better, deeper unit this season.

Hope so. Career life expectancy of many of our position groups is kind of forcing the issue a bit.

Sounds like Case may have gotten injured, too bad he looked like a contender.  My bet was on Ontaria Wilson to take the receiver spot, but if they're looking for a bit of Bailey grit, who knows.  Maybe they can insert Clercius whenever grit is called for, and go with overall receiving skills other times.

More than any thing I think they look at the less tangibles. FIFO, coachability, toughness, prep and off field work ethic. The stuff you don’t get as much of from scouts and conversations with coaches. That and how quick they pick things up.

Case, if he is willing, will almost certainly be brought back for the PR imo.

I thought RIvers showed a great motor when he was in the game. That, and the stuff you mentioned are all part of the equation for sure.

which was key reason we dominated in 2019...and mostof 2021...then we went away from it for an odd reason

I feel case will be back once healthy. Tait did a piece on him so I’m assuming once healthy. But also did one on Ronnie brown so who knows.

He did. And personally I love dl with motor. The addition of Devin adams at dl may have also played into it. That guys an nfl blue chip quality athlete.

yeah...inside and out that dude can play....possibly whattheyhoped with D]Abreau and what I think they envisioned for him....but must like Adams more....I know I do...and I like D'Abreau....so this is win win

I'm hoping this is the year we bring in a real difference maker rookie to our DL. Don't care if it is inside or out.

My brother was at practice yesterday and said they had a few formations with Collaros and Streveler on the field. Sweeps/PA/ reverses.

Was LaPolice + Kelly  guest coaches this year?  :D

Sure looked like Strev. was picking LaPo plays he knew well out of the playbook in the first preseason game.

Exactly, agree with all that.

Realistically, he’s an A++ get. D’abreau was maybe more a B+. The couple weeks a head isn’t critical at this point.

Crazy when you think Bombers will have to make 35-40 cuts at once.

Gonna be a whirlwind between the cuts and the last pre season game. Not gonna be a lot of sleep for the coaches.

In that case it might be wise to identify an import RB that can approximate Brady's running style and stick him on the PR for the season in case they need him.  Augustine or Rosery aren't capable of sustaining a ground and pound running game and not sure MCI can fill that role either yet.  The Riders found a poor man's version of Ouellette in Ratkovich to pound the ball if he goes down, I could see their running game being much improved this season.

I do not see Chris Ike mentioned anywhere above, Its probably asking too much, but so far he looks like he could be another Oliviera.

I’m really hoping there’s like 12-15 before the game Friday

I don’t see that at all, to be honest. I don’t think the Bombers do either. MCI is a utility player, they’re hoping he fills a role like a Kalinic.

His most productive college season was significantly less productive than Oliveira‘s least productive, his career YPC is not good and he caught exactly one pass in college. I think anyone who thinks he’s here to be a running back is fooling themselves.

Yeah honestly I don't see any way they don't make some cuts. No point in having a thousand bodies in a game.

Yup he is here to allow us not to waste a DI spot this yr....and actually be a threat out of backfield if ignored.....and fill out the ST roster

I think as well we will see at least 10 guys deleted prior to the game...they should know by now prety much who the fringe guys are that aren't gonna be kept

yeah....Dline guys...if they are athletic, and have good technique can basically be dropped in at any time....it's esiest position to jump right into the fray...

Get with the program sailor, MCI is the abbreviated name now!

Haven’t scene much of any thing from mci yet. He has a tremendous tool set, but he’s far from a regular ball carrier. Tons of potential, and the ability to contribute right away with teams/blocking. I think we will start to see who he is as a ball carrier in the next tc.
If I was him, I’d be trying to learn all the niche jobs. Holder, long snapper, and etc. soak in as much as possible from guys like Brady, and the goat. Rb is his upside. But he can carve a very long and lucrative career out very quickly if he excel on teams and in the little tasks. Getting wr/db one on ones would be big too.
