Raise your hand if your greed and pettiness helped your former team's biggest rival end the league's longest drought a season later.

  • His trip to the bathroom lasted longer than his free agency.

  • I like having posters from other teams. I don't get why some of you get so butt hurt over it. Other teams have good players/seasons. It's ok to acknowledge it. DOesn't take anything away from our team

The Lions had room for VAJ half of last year, so they've already incorporated both VAJ's and Rouke's salary in the SMS. Pipkin is probably getting $250K+, drop him and they're golden. Add in Burnham's $165K and they're ahead of the game. As for chopping 2-3 high end players, Burnham and Rourke are those players, they don't need to chop 2-3 more.

And Pipkin is very easily replaced. He has shown very little.

He would be alright in a good situation but man you better have a top OL and group of receivers given he can't run. Almost want to see him sign in sask and get killed.

The OL in Hamilton isn't bad. Maybe ranked at #3 or 4 I'd say.

Pipkin isn't making more money than Vernon Adams. That's an insane statement. And so is saying they're golden when they're not. Rourke made $71,000 last year & every qb on that Lions roster will be making more this season is going to mess with their salary cap. By the time they're finished there will be veterans of the lions signing elsewhere.

great coach to learn under... no doubt about that... but he's QB2 (at best) behind the guy expected to be the face of the franchise for the next decade... so not a great choice in terms of opportunity

Thats what I found interesting, hes to damn talented to be holding a clipboard...period.

Correct.  TSN had him maxing out at 116k if he got his playing bonuses (80k base salary).

Don't underestimate team/management politics and bias. Streveler is better than other QBs on the NY Jets team, but still didn't get the reps.

And that's the situation Rourke didn't want.

He's not going to walk on a team and supplant a starter. He needed a spot that would give him the opportunity to compete for the #2.

It's also important that you don't go somewhere where the coaching staff is going to be fired mid-season. You pick the team with the worst starting QB and that's exactly what will happen.

The way the NFL works, Pederson could be unemployed by season's end next year. There are no guarantees. Rourke was signed by Jacksonville based a lot on the urging of Hank Burris who is an assistant coach with the Jags.

You don't need insiders to tell you it's both the Riders' and Dane's only option.

Dave Evans is a better fit in BC and Vaj is a better fit in the Gap

Evans is a fit for no one with his temper tantrums & finger pointing. Adams is in a good spot in BC. Better than playing for the Riders.

Cody and Dane complaining when things inevitably go bad in Regina next season...

Vaj is a better fit anywhere because he's the better QB.

I don't know if there Riders necessarily need a mobile QB though. They need to design an offence to get the ball out quick.

That would be true if Montreal hadn't paid 2/3 of Adam's salary before they traded him last year. Last year's total cap hit for Adams to the Lions was 75k. Between Rourke's time and Adams pay they came in at less than a 100k for their starting QB. Adams is due for 350-370k this year. Do the math TB. Montreal is not paying 280k of Adams contract this year.

It doesn't matter who is ahead of you on the depth chart if the coaches are bringing you in to be TCF. Rourke went to the best opportunity he could find where he earnestly believed the coaches will give him a fair shot. NFL politics being what it is, I don't blame him.

I can imagine how stoked the RIder coaches must be at the prospect of trading out one blubbering, crying, finger pointing, mental mess of a QB only to replace him with his exact doppelganger from another team. BROKEN. The Riders would be better off with a Dru Brown or another young QB that isn't mentally broken. Not sure what they are thinking about really.

There is no pressure on him in Jacksonville, they are a team on the rise with a great offensive system and that seems to earnestly believe in him. Good for him, I say.

Does Ballsy know about this? I'm pretty sure he's still committed to Bo coming down to the criders.

For a guy with mental health issues this seems like the worst possible landing spot.

Maybe the extra hits will be beneficial.

Evans needs protection, not very elusive.   Fajardo *is* a better option for Saskatchewan until they fix that o-line.

I got Pipkins salary wrong, he only saves them $80K. Using last years SMS hits... Pipkin @ $80K, Adams @ $75K, Rourke @ $71K, Burnham @ $165K = $391K of SMS savings. Is that the math that you wanted me to do?

Whomever their QB is, he is going to be low on the list of things wrong with the Riders.

Cody wasn't really the problem last year either. O'Day has built a poor culture, made terrible cap management decisions, and hired a coaching staff that can't maximize (or recognize) the abilities of their players.
