Friday Bombers vs Chris Jones

Does demanding your team win and every player be super human, does that win you any games? Based on his actions Chris Jones might say "Absolutely!" The departed Nick Arbuckle is a perfect illustration:

https://3downnation.com/2022/07/12/how-it-went-wrong-between-the-edmonton-elks-chris-jones-and-nick-arbuckle/

"Chris Jones never wanted Arbuckle in Edmonton....After an 0-3 start, Jones swiftly pulled the plug. ...So, here we are. Arbuckle is out, and the Elks have close to zero experience at the most important position in football....Arbuckle’s biggest challenge in Edmonton may have been his fear of making mistakes. In last Friday’s recap, I suggested that the risk of being pulled on any particular play was inhibiting his development. “Constant competition” is often considered a positive thing, but it has to be awfully tough on players knowing that any mistake can lose them a job..."

"Arbuckle is a smart quarterback. The Elks staff have said it — even Ford has said it — with plenty of anecdotes about how Arbuckle could answer any question he had. He’s also very accurate. Not perfect, obviously, but capable of consistently putting balls into the right spots for his receivers. He also showed impressive leadership and compassion when consoling a distraught Dane Evans after the game in Hamilton...."

"I was recently reminded of Saskatchewan’s 2017 season in which Chris Jones unabashedly swapped Kevin Glenn and Brandon Bridge on the fly. He went from Glenn to Bridge to Glenn and back to Bridge in a matter of plays that included two interceptions. It’s hard to imagine anyone getting into a rhythm with that schedule."

So this Friday night who is going have the psychological advantage, Jones or O'Shea? Is MOS preparing any traps?

But what about Nic Demski?

I don't think the injury report includes guys on the 6 game.

Week 7 vs. Winnipeg (July 22):

EDMONTON ELKS INJURY REPORT                                 PRACTICE DAY
Player Name Position Injury Day 1 – Mon Day 2 – Tues Day 3 – Wed Game Status
Antigha, Tobi LB Healthy Scratch FULL FULL FULL
Carter, Duron DB Ankle FULL FULL FULL
Ceresna, Jake DL Shoulder LIMITED LIMITED LIMITED OUT
Coe, Nick DL Hamstring DNP DNP DNP OUT
Ford, Tre QB Shoulder DNP DNP DNP OUT
Holley, Caleb WR Healthy Scratch FULL FULL FULL
Jack-Kurdyla, Tomas OL Healthy Scratch FULL FULL FULL
Locksley, Kai QB Hamstring DNP DNP DNP OUT
Lyon, Nafees DB Shoulder DNP DNP DNP OUT
Morgan, Nyles LB Hip/Groin FULL FULL FULL
Reaves, Jordan DL Hand LIMITED LIMITED LIMITED OUT
Walker, Derel WR Hip/Groin DNP DNP DNP OUT
Washington, Tony OL Knee FULL FULL FULL
Watson, Tre LB Knee DNP DNP DNP OUT

Hip injuries were the thing last year as well.

“Thorax” from last year is still my favourite.

Derel Walker out from too many fastballs in the dirt.

I remember when we were gunning for Derel Walker until he got lost in a cave somewhere or abducted by aliens for a few months.

Seeing his play and attitude since joining the Elks sure makes me glad we dodged that bullet.

I wonder if when he looks down at his fingers hindsight bothers him....

What did I miss happening to Ellingson?

Hope this provides Jeffcoat a chance to heal up. He's been  rather quiet this season so far.

Didn't know Ellingson was even injured,Jeffcoat was 50/50. I'm still very confident in those receivers and our D but I just wish they would've started Johnny instead.

He's been getting plenty of pressure.

I wonder if those guys would sit if this game was against BC or Calgary....

I don't think that's the way MOS/Coaching staff does things. Especially against ANY west team. If they could play they would be.

No Ellingson or Jeffcoat tomorrow.

I'm no expert on this sort of stuff... so someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but doesn't it make more sense to have Bailey fill in for Ellingson at slot and Grant at WR ?

I’m excited to see how this receiving core does, I expect Schoen will probably be our number one guy. Intrigued to see Grant in a bigger role, I expect healthy doses of Bailey Agudosi, and Woli, and we’ll see if we can get anything out of Harrison.
