Suckskatchewan @ Champs PGT

Opponent unknown, but the Bombers will host the Western Final for the first time in 49 years.

Can Harris come back?
I'm assuming McGuire dresses behind Collaros?
Who's in/who's out?

Long, long range weather (as of November 22): High -3, feels like -9. Wind 21.

(as of November 24): High -11, feels like -18. Wind 26.

(as of November 26): High -5, feels like -10. Wind 18, gusting 27.

(as of November 29): High -9, feels like -14, Wind 14, gusting 24.

(as of December 1): High -7, feels like -12, Wind 20, gusting 30.

(as of December 3): High -5, feels like -12, Wind 33, gusting 50.  This is interesting, the wind has picked up SIGNIFICANTLY, to the point that I don't even think the kicking game is going to matter. But, the high on Monday is -22, which tells me it's likely the temperature will get much colder prior to or during the game. The weather is definitely going to be a factor but we're still too far out to see what the full impact will be. It's going to be fun.

  • Interesting that Harris is listed as “Guaranteed To Dominate”… seems a little arrogant but I can’t really disagree!

  • Watching the Rider fans cry is so euphoric to me. Rider_Stronson over there having a meltdown, you love to see it. We handed them the game multiple times and they couldn’t take it. **** em, so gl

They mentioned the suspension in the article. Also said he was “snubbed” in not getting an all-star nom, ignoring who he lost out to.

They didn't mention anywhere in the article the reason for his suspension, unless you can point that out?

No, not the reason, but the suspension itself was noted.  True that they did omit the reason for it, but we all know.

Not sure why this is funny.  Combines?  Manitoba has a lot of combines too.  Growing up and playing a lot of hockey in Winnipeg we'd always get told to get on our combines, as we were from outside Winnipeg, and I'd be like, sure, but it's not even harvest season, what are you stupid?

Let's stick with inbred jokes and lack of plumbing jokes when it comes to the Riders.  Having spent enough time in that province, I know these jokes to be based in a lot of truth...lol...

Take a look at a geographical map. Farmland is tiny in Manitoba compared to the flatland. Way more combines in Saskyland. Manitoba is mainly rocks, trees and water.

While I've lived pretty much everywhere in MB south of The Pas, the bolded will always be how I see Manitoba, too.

Barely any room for another one but we will make it fit.

We might need to appropriate some land. ;)

I think you guys look way too hard sometimes to find Rider media bias where it doesn’t really exist.

Why would they mention the reason for his suspension? PEDs lead to the increased likelihood of injuries.

But, 3Down is not a news site, it's just a fan site, so I should expect less.

And the abuse the poor staff suffered because he's trash.

Not to mention that poor sample cup that went unused, left to ponder its very existence.

Leonard's injury is interesting. Purifoy hurt an ankle today too but believe he came back to practice. Johnson was a DNP yesterday, Duke is a little banged up and Dearborn who played LB last week is also banged up.

Maybe it wouldn't matter as much if their media and fans did not rip/and continue to disparage Harris.

So any thoughts on keys to the game? Here are mine:

Offence:

Winnipeg

Blue offense: complete some passes downfield early.  I think this is the entire key to the Blue offense, that quick-strike ability. Every one of our receivers caught deep passes this season, even field-side exile Wolitarski. Force the green D to cover the entire field, force them to take men out of the box, leave them shorthanded against our ground assault.

Blue D...play good contain like you would against any mobile QB, don't let Fajardo run around, punish him if he does.  You want a template for this, look at what the Riders did to Streveler in last year's final, he was a beast in the cup and in the semifinal, but the Riders did a great job against him ...  though I bet that Faj has a way deeper playbook than Streveler had so maybe that's not a good example.

question for football people: would it be a good call to dedicate Bighill to spy Fajardo?  We do so many things with Bighill in coverage that it feels like we're giving away a lot to shackle him to the QB like that. Could the spy duties be handled by any other linebacker or even Alexander, who moves around a bunch?  Or is our DL strong enough and disciplined enough to corral the slippery green QB without any special arrangements?

Sure seems like the Rider players are dumbasses. Like seriously low character people.

Not that I will defend Rider Nation or its players, but Micah Johnson lost his father a couple weeks back and was attending/doing a family virtual yesterday. I will respect.

I dont believe the reports about 50/50 for Sunday. That's BS. He's gonna play.

And who cares, really?

You don't do anything different from what you did during the two games this summer/fall.......they know how to beat these assholes. Just go do it again.

Jason maas and the riders wont run out the same game plan. We will make plenty of adjustments and changes. But as long as fajardo cant throw 15 yards down field, or win a game while standing in the pocket I think we will see that be the basis again.

Last week he didnt get sacked once. And threw 4 picks and 1 td. Against an ok cal defense. 5 minutes of collaros and way to much dru brown was better than CF. This is one of the most lopsided W finals Ive seen in a long time.

I wasn't dumping on him, thought I had read he was banged up.

I don’t listen to their local media, and I don’t care if they play the homer card -it just reveals their low broadcast standards. I don’t see the national media continually bringing up Harris’ failed test, and you’d be mighty upset if they still did, so why the double standard? In the Grey Cup all they mentioned was hardship and suspension once and talked about his redemption. They didn’t harp on the failed drug test. As for the fans, who cares what they think. Of course they’ll throw stones, just like you have with Leonard all year. Why do you care so much what they have to say, do you honestly expect praise from them?

Don’t let them live rent-free in your head. Their opinion is irrelevant. And you being sore about it is exactly the reaction they want. Don’t give them that satisfaction, it seems foolish to get worked up about it.

Just my two cents. Do what you wish I guess, but lots of the “Rider fawning media” conspiracy is overblown, and dumping on the fans for exactly the same behaviour displayed against them here comes off as hypocritical. If we want to hold ourselves as a better fan base than the “Gappers”, then let’s act the part.

I don’t think you spy Fajardo. A Streveler-type run first QB is one you spy (like Tracy Ham, Damon Allen or earlier Henry Burris) but Fajardo still wants to throw first. Prevent the scrambles with contain, but no need to guard against him running in every play. If he changes his M.O. and starts to utilize the run as a regular option, easy enough to switch to a “spy” scheme then.
