IG Field - New Game Day Protocols, Bussing, Tickets, etc. thread

I wanted to start a thread that discusses the changes in the protocols and whatnot about getting to the stadium and our experiences once there.

1. TICKETS There is already discussion about the mobile tickets here:

But here are some links...

Link to Mobile Ticket Guide: https://www.bluebombers.com/mobile-ticketing
Link to PDF instructions: https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2021/07/Bombers_MobileTickets.pdf

You need the app:

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ticketmaster/id500003565
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ticketmaster.mobile.android.na

Make sure you have the BLUE app. The old GOLD one is no longer valid.

I discovered today that you can link your Ticketmaster and your Bomber accounts. I was able to see my season tickets in the app and the extras I purchased through Ticketmaster for the Banjo Bowl.

2. TRANSPORTATION (Parking, Park & Ride, Biking)

PARKING remains $20 to park near the stadium. You can purchase tickets here and see the map: https://www.bluebombers.com/tickets/game-day-parking/

They have a value lot ($5), which is the "B" lot for those that are familiar with UofM parking lots. It's a good hike and will take you about 10-15 minutes each way to get to the stadium and back. The issue I've had parking there in the past is that you're behind all the traffic and it takes while to get out. That was based on a my experience a couple of years ago, so it may be smoother now.

PARK & RIDE

More information: https://www.bluebombers.com/park-and-ride/

Route 1 – McPhillips Station – 484 McPhillips Street

Route 2 – Club Regent – 1425 Regent Ave West.

Route 3 – Hudson’s Bay at St. Vital Centre – 86-1225 St. Mary’s Road

Route 4 – St. Norbert Hotel – 3540 Pembina Highway

Route 5 – at Assiniboia Downs – The Assiniboia Downs Park & Ride

Cost: Remains $5 per person 12 and over. Cash or digital payment methods

THERE IS NO LONGER PARK AND RIDE FROM TAYLOR or GRANT PARK.

NEW for 2021 – Winnipeg Transit Park & Ride (replaces 2019 Grant Park Mall Park and Ride)

Choose one of the following two locations to access the BLUE rapid transit line:

Seel Station Park and Ride – 1550 Seel Ave.

Clarence Station Park and Ride – 1240 Clarence Ave.

Cost: Winnipeg Transit Fare $3.05 (pay when you get on bus and when you leave after the game) for anyone 12 and over. Transit does NOT charge for children 11 and under, as long as they're with a paying adult.

BIKING

Same as before, no changes. 800 spots and no charge for the valet.

3. STADIUM PROTOCOLS https://www.bluebombers.com/2021-stadium-protocols/

  1. Manitoba Immunization QR Code - you need to prove that you're double vaxxed.
  2. Mobile Tickets - mentioned earlier
  3. Cashless Venue - everything it electronic payments now. No cash.
  4. Fan Health Promise - you better be healthy if you're going!
  5. Know Your Gate - you MUST enter through your designated gate.
  6. Face Coverings - masks must be worn in the indoor common areas but not outdoors (ie seats).
  7. Parking and Transportation - mentioned earlier

Thanks for mentioning.  Gate assignments not that clear on ticket or in info sent by mail.

FYI for those that didn't look closely,  it's on ticket details

I'm gate 2 as well.

I see that there's a park and ride from Hat Trick's for those in the west end.... $25 and you get a $25 voucher to use for food/drink at HT's before or after the game. Good deal, for sure. I think we'll definitely be using one of the bar park and rides on the 29th......absolutely can't wait.

This is my "local" and was this close to using for today's transportation..... Until I saw they plan to leave 1 hour before the game starts.  Those people will be lucky to inside by the end of the 1st quarter.

Okay, jusy arrived. Long lines to get in but gates just opened.

Bus was quick and smooth along rapid transit corridor.

I'm at gate 4 and they're encouraging people to go to other gates.

Anyone coming in still and seeing this- avoid gate 1 and 4 at all costs.

Came in my gate 2 and absolutely zero hassle

Gate 3 smooth sailing

On the pre-game show, Wade confirmed concourses and stands were optional.

That was disappointing.  I would have liked to see more masks being worn, especially on the concourses.

Traffic was hell getting in and back out. Concessions were a disaster. The only worse game day experience I can remember was the very first IGF game.

They’ve got 2 weeks to figure it out before we are going back so hopefully they have things sorted by then.

Being at a game and seeing them win, priceless.

Completely. Those upper concourses are closed in and you should have a mask on.

Anyone else still in line for a beer and a Shwarma?

Honestly, the lines at the concessions need to move faster.  More runners, more beer taps, more cans, or less selection.  It took 19 minutes to get food for us at the short line west side upper concourse, and we were only behind 20 people.  Some lines were likely 100 people long.

Luckily, there weren’t lines at the washrooms.

This was absolutely awful yesterday .. between the wait and the congestion it had me saying to myself, "I won't even bother next game."   That's a shame.

On a side note, did anyone happen to figure out where they were offering TransCanada Brewing / Brazen Hall beers?  I was looking forward to something local but was disappointed when a couple of different vendors indicated they had no clue what those were.

I think that they're set up at either end of the stadium, on the main floor.

For the upper west side, I got two beers upon arrival but they only had one credit card machine and that machine had troubles getting a good signal. I was lucky that I got those beers early because I wasn't going to stand in those long lines.

Getting in was great, much better than I thought. Yeah, avoided food saw the lines for that and it was insane.

Being polite to strangers is optional but I do it anyway. I see this much the same.

Exactly. Show some respect and keep the peace.

I thought entry to stadium was fine and a breeze all things considered, and lines for concessions...is what it is suck it up...try going to a 60 to 90k stadium capacity and get back to me...suck it up buttercups.

On a real good note the one liqour/beer vendor where we came in at Gate 1 had debit down...so drinks were free as free could be!!...not sure how long that lasted but was a bonus...luckily I had some actual cash on me so the servers got a fat tip from us

Didn't attend but am curious about how the vaccine checks went. Heard anecdotally that they weren't checking some people at all.

I can only speak to what I saw....

The young man who scanned my card wasn't checking ID. Just scan and go. Also, security reminded him TWICE to stay in one place and not try to work up and down the line, potentially missing people.

My wife and I just laughed at the fact that besides 600+ days between the last game there and the one last night, somehow, some way, University Crescent was still under construction.

Lines for concessions is one thing.

having 100 people in line because there’s one guy running the register, pouring beers and grabbing the food while his 5 coworkers stand around doing nothing is kind of poop.

Thanks JCon!  Disappointed to hear they weren't doing a great job checking.
