I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here. 

 

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended. 

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd. 

 

Political Rallies have been cancelled. 

Travel bans. 

 

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested.

He should be thrown in jail, heavily fined whatever until he can provide concrete evidence of his drivel. The freedom of saying what you want does not hide you from consequences but in our current environment it sure does and then he can counter people are ganging up on me for my views and trying to censor me.

This is the medical doctor who served under Trump as the White house doctor. Every Friday afternoon when he was there, he would walk around the place asking if anyone needed a precription for happy pills for the weekend. He was also reported as drinking heavily when on duty.

You're thinking of Ronnie Jackson, not Ron Johnson.  Johnson is a moron unto himself.

Not surprisingly, Jackson was elected to the House of Representatives by the fine people of Texas 13.

Not a big fan of the plague.

 

Serious question (with no judgement) for everyone here. As a healthy 40-something with kids, is anyone planning on getting the booster for either them or their kids? I had the first round of 3 shots, and the kids have the first 2 themselves, and nothing since. We all had covid since our last shots which is one big reason we didn't bother with a booster.

I had 4 shots but haven't had one in more than a year. I am absolutely getting both the flu shot and the new Moderna as soon as it's available. I want to be protected this fall flu season and hopefully have enough immunity for a January trip to the DR. I'm just waiting to hear back from my pharmacy about availability of the new vaccine.

Me neither, but it's a good way to keep up on the information. The political threads were a mercy kill as they had gone so far over the line of civil discussion that the mods had no choice really.

Absolutely. I know they'll get it again, so I want to minimize their reaction, which the shot/booster do. I plan to, as well. Same demographics.

Yea I know. Just exhausted. Just need a bit of out of sight out of mind for a bit of respite.

I will get the booster for sure. One bout with covid was enough for me to know I want to mitigate the impacts as much as possible. I love concerts and live events and plan to attend many this fall and winter. Unfortunately sounds like covid will also be in attendance

Just read a good article from the CBC about protecting yourself this flu/COVID season, and it sounds like the new Moderna Omicron booster will be out in early October. Hoping I can make it to that point without catching something. 

Here is to hoping that the new variants follow the typical patterns of being less deadly / severe in symptomns.

FDA approves new monovalent shot based on "manufacturers data" and no clinical trials. They also approved it for 12+ year-olds and authorized its use from 6 month to 11 years. 

I'll sit this one out. Good luck everyone and stay well.

I believe it's been mentioned many many times on here, but Canada has some of the most stringent protocols for approving new medicines. It wouldn't get approved for use in this country unless it's been through all the tests. I'll continue to trust the doctors and scientists.
