Covid-19

I'm starting this thread as a side discussion of all things Corona Virus related. I understand that this is going to be discussed in almost all other topic threads but we could collect news and other items here.

At work, many conferences have been cancelled.

NBA - Suspended.

NHL - About to be suspended.

NCAA March Madness - Playing - no crowd.

Political Rallies have been cancelled.

Travel bans.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks tested positive. They're in Australia where testing is available. If they were in the US, they wouldn't have been tested.

If only it was full facial masks...

I would prefer they use dry cleaning bags.

Emergency room doctor flattens 6 shockingly stupid things Republicans say to justify reopening
Written by Sarah K. Burris / Raw Story May 11, 2020

President Donald Trump and Republican governors have said that they will reopen whether it endangers the lives of their citizens or not. While many Americans are exhausted and overwhelmed from living in lockdown, others are terrified to step outside and risk their health or the health of others.

In a Washington Post editorial, Dr. Leana Wen outlined six shockingly stupid that that many in the GOP are advocating.

I’ve defended pallister but this is ridiculous.  Claims they’ll be $5 billion down but screws 700 people to save $11 million?  That’s brutal. He just lost my vote.  That’s it.  Ofcourse Wab is a disgrace so options are limited provincially.

The Trump administration plan at this point, seems to be to just bluff and brazen it out.   Trump is simply obsessed with re-election.   How many Americans actually die, at this point is immaterial...

Sure.  But when you double down on it by lying and intimidating victims I can’t help but not be so forgiving.

Bryan Adams in hot water over xenophobic IG post: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bryan-adams-instagram-1.5565624

Another clueless celebrity sharing his ignorance on social media.

See, now no one will condone his statements, no one will say "that's just what rockstars do."

Yet, with those hockey players this week, there was willingness to say "that's just what hockey players do."

OK so he's an ignorant jackass, but what am I missing that makes it inherently racist? Is that not he prevailing theory on how this virus jumped from bats to humans?
