Around the League: 2019 Off Season

Okay, so the off season officially begins now that the Grey Cup is over. Lots of topics for discussion in the months to come with the Bombers & the League. A new CBA needs to be negotiated sooner rather than later.  Will there be an eventual agreement or a lockout? How much will the salary cap go up? Randy Ambrosie is on record that wants the cap to significantly go up so that is a positive.  Will Bo Levi Mitchell sign with an NFL or perhaps another CFL team? What about Mike Reilly & Trevor Harris who are also free agents? There's a new start up league called the  AAFL & there are legit concerns that it'll draw star CFL players away or hamper free agent signings with CFL teams. Coaching changes in BC & Toronto. The continuing evolving story of the expansion Halifax Schooners & possible exhibition games in Mexico.

My mom went into the bomber store years ago to buy me a jersey and Moreno was in there.  She met him and said he was a good looking fella so she bought me his jersey.  So pretty much I got his jersey

  • I hate that ******* ginger with a fiery passion for all he did to us over the years..............but............I respect the hell out of him as a CFL QB.

Yeah, I totally forgot about Dickenson....Garcia, too......Dickenson is heads and tails above AC/Burris, and right up there with Frito...

AC and Burris are not in the same category. AC and then Ray. Not by much in my opinion but Burris isn't even in the conversation.

And the Ti-Cats continue their aggressive signings...

Bryant Mitchell

RECEIVING

Won't be a bad 3rd Int'l receiver option.

Oh damn Bryant Mitchell is even better than Matthews in my book. But we likely don't have money for that anymore :(

guy is a physical receiver and speedy. we definitely could use that.

Matthews - Adams - Mitchell - Wolitarsky - Demski .... how I wish.

Mitchell is the slot receiver we’ve needed for years. He’s tremendous.

Do we have money for Mitchell too? I'm greedy.

He's good but not worth breaking the bank to get.   The Blue should have enough money for him if they want to go after him.

Would be nice but I don’t think we will sign him.  We kind of box ourselves in to starting 3 American receivers if we do. They did a lot of scouting and have signed a lot of receivers.  I think they want to leave something up to training camp to decide in that area.

No telling if Mitchell is looking to return to the CFL this year or continue his pursuit of an NFL position, he's only 26 so I don't think he's ready to give up on the dream yet.  Good thing about Matthews,  he says he's done with the NFL.

Yep,we didn't have him last year and we were the highest scoring team in the league....just sayin

When you get cut by the Cardinals without even making it to training camp and I that would be a good indicator that it’s time to make a long term commitment to the CFL.   Personally for our offense I lean towards Matthews being the best fit due to his size and physicality.  I have no regrets.

it's the classic big market media entitlement. "WE DESERVE TO KNOW!!"  No, you don't...

Also assumes readers want or care about his woke social commentary which he shoe-horns into his stories every chance he gets. Nothing worse than a sports reporter with frustrated dreams of being a "serious" journalist.

Don't think Ray is tough enough to survive any other era of football. He didn't ever take any beatings the way QB's did back then.

I could not disagree with this more.  I think you are basing your perception too much on his last few years in Toronto.  Ray got beat up mercilessly most of his years in Edmonton and he would just get back up and throw dimes.  Never complain, never point fingers.

Ask a guy like Doug Brown and I can pretty much guarantee he would tell you that Ricky Ray was the toughest (physically and mentally) QB, and one of the toughest players that he played against.

Sol signs for 160.

Great sign, Brendan, I mean Jeremy.
