Stupid comment by Bezan, but in the grand scheme probably barely newsworthy when there is a president who brags about grabbing ******* and the leader of the provincial NDP writes songs about it and physically abuses women.

Trump has been accused of far worse.  Look at Moore.  Everyone is climbing back on board.  Its disgusting.  Weather the storm?  These people are steering right into it and laughing all the way.

It won't stick because as you even say, it's been blown way out of proportion (just like comparing it to leering at kids).   Anyone with half a brain can see that is was  a bad joke at a bad time... but they can't pretend it didn't happen.

He is not the 1st MP to say something stupid and won't be the last.  There was a Lib MP (Nicola Di Iorio) who made a similar stupid joke in March to a PC MP (Dianne Watts) and he had to publicly apologize too.  That was the end of it for him & this should be the end of it for Bezan as well.

it was a comparison that relates what the court of public opinion does to a person, not the acts themselves.. dont be obtuse.     I hope it does end here for him too but its now on the internet forever.  Any searches done in the future will have a link to "accused of sexual harrass.." for who knows how long going forward.. is that fair?  Sure, he shouldn't have made the joke so he wears the goat horns.. but everything following up to and including stopping the house of commons to re-air the dirty laundry that had already been dealt with and apologized for... thats ridiculous.

exactly.  and yet they had to actually stop the house of commons, give this lady her moment of silence to rehash an already dealt with issue.   that bugs me.   why revisit it?  what point did it serve?

I havent seen too many examples of a one off situation sticking to someone in a major way.  All these instances now are multiple accusers, well vetted etc.  Look at Spacey,  it wasnt the first one that did him in.  Look at Takei, who seems to be weathering it okay.  How long did it take for Cosby to have issues?

I think most people understand the difference between a joke, a stupid comment and a legitimate example of harassment.  Not everyone, but most.  But if a guy is making sexual jokes right now, he might not be a predator, but he's pretty stupid so theres that.

sure, I agree with that but an accusation of sexual harassment doesn't really just go away..  you will always have that stigma around your name... sure, 10 15 years later maybe not but..  for now?  ya it will linger.

Who are we talking about that has been accused of sexual harassment, was completely innocent, and now has a stigma?  One could make the argument for Michael Jackson but there was a legitimate criminal investigation and he didnt do himself any favours, and yet he still was making a comeback and was widely mourned for the genius he was when he died.

That's a great question.

You would think they  and/or people close to them would have popped up in the media (maybe they have and I haven't seen it) to voice their opinion on what is transpiring these days when it comes to this issue.

You don't see this as a reach in regards to having been accused of sexual harassment?   Anyone who's name has been brought up in national media as a person who has sexually harassed someone will carry that stigma.. where is the confusion exactly?

as for the comparison of Bezan saying "not my kind of 3 way.." by having a photo op of 2 different political parties together isn't anything even remotely close to Micheal Jackson and his numerous incidents with children being in his care..

By all means, use this list to insult an entire religion with your "bible thumpers" comment.

The confusion is, you're arguing a point that isnt really apparent.  Its a new twist on the "believe the accused" perspective.  I believe in innocent until proven guilty certainly.  And you know what, when someone slanders you, you can sue them.  But none of these guys do.  You know why?  You can guess...

As I noted previously, these are all incidents with an air of truth to them.  If the first test is common sense, they all surpass it.  We're talking about media that in most cases has vetted the stories.  In fact, when someone tried to set up the Washington Post, they weeded it out.

When someone makes a random accusation, it's not that everyone runs with it and a person has a stigma.  Rapp made an allegation against Spacey.  Spacey wasn't doomed.  In fact, Spacey didnt really deny it.  And he still wasnt sunk...until more allegations came forward.

Ill gladly defend the man who has a random, unreasonable, suspicious allegation made.  It hasnt happened yet.  So why worry about it?  All these accusations and truth that is coming out is a GOOD thing.  Its an IMPORTANT thing.  So why are we talking about something that hasnt happened in a way that would deflect the reality of victims coming forward?  Should victims not come forward?

you've clearly missed my point.  The guy admitted it was a dumb joke.  apologized. went thru "sensitivity" training and then apologized... again.   thats not the issue.. the issue is what was a joke between 3 people has spiraled into this.   I imagine Bezan doesn't want to go through the even longer hassle of trying to clear his name at this point either.. because, again, it doesn't clear your name.  Once you've been linked to something heinous, you don't just walk away from it.. especially in the age of the internet.

I want people coming forward. I want perverts, pedophiles, predators and rapists to all get dragged thru the mud. arrested and charged.  I want all accusers to not fear being ridiculed and made to felt badly about coming forward...  I also want people to lighten the F up, NOT insinuate sexual abuse or harassment because someone tells a joke they don't like.  as I said, he never once made leering motions, gropey hand gestures or anything untoward.. he made a joke, about conflicting political foes being put together for a photo op.. if a grown-ass woman can't handle a joke, why the hell is she in politics?

Yeah and I'm sure the list of democrats contains pervs and sickos as well.  And a Christian list (I am a Christian as well, gotta call out all pervs, even those within my faith), a muslim list, a teacher list, a garbage man list, a policeman list, a convenience store clerk list, a lawyer list, an accountant list...................see where I'm going with this?

The really sad/disgusting part of this all is that now that the floodgates are open there will be many men who are destroyed who are innocent.   Don't get me wrong, it's great that the cesspool that is Hollywood and Politics are finally being exposed for the rape culture they hide, but on the flip side, we still need due process and evidence.

The REALLY sad/disgusting part of all this, is the number of women who have been raped and or assaulted......that's the sad/disgusting part. Don't get me wrong, it's sad that maybe there's some guys not as guilty as others, but on the flip side, there's still guys not getting noticed for the egregious things they're doing.

Society makes me sad.

as loathe as I am to say it, we are still trying to break generations of a mentality that women are meat and men are god.  old habits die hard.  its not a defense, its not an excuse.. its the why (imo) and even though people know better and people realize what a foolish notion it was many years ago, old men don't change their stripes.  women are meat, underlings are meat.   equality has come a long way but it has so much further to go.    I am happy to see it happening, I'm sad to see how common place it has been for so long.  I'm happy to see justice being served even if its just a dismissal or a firing.  I'm sad to see how many cases of this will never see the light of day because they are not as "important" as these political and hollywood/media hyped ones.   we've come a long way but there is still a long long ways to go.

The difference is that republicans and conservatives are the politicians who tend to use their supposed faith in God to get votes.   Perhaps you missed the blatant hypocrisy that the list illustrates.
