Is it known which Western team tried to grab Spooner off PR??

Was it ever let out to be known who tried to grab Spooner?

  • Just to clear up any speculation in the thread, Spooner was indeed offered a spot on another team, and he declined it.  Flat out.

This post drips with irony, but at least you didn't start a thread to say it!

  • I will only post things like that from facts I know as being accurate..rarely speculate, and what Credentials are you requiring...and define credentials. I a while back stated some street cred in a di

I didn't even know that happened.  Was there a report of this?

Interesting.   Wonder whats up with this scenario.. maybe we can offer them Neufie?

but ya this is news to me as well..

that's what I hear, so was wondering if anything has been mentioned about it anywhere,

if it happened, Spooner must have declined (like Guy did to BC) because we haven't had to put him on the active roster to avoid losing him (unless I missed that).

possibly eh? I was thinking either them or possibly Edm.

Then again there is the Rider's who have no depth, are weak on the oline and that is something Jones would do as they can't recruit anything to save their lives

It's good we averted it though as I would think Bond most likely gets NFL interest next year and we may make that LG spot a National position as we have the resources to do so

And from what I hear Spooner loves it here, so makes sense he would decline

We did put him on the 1 game inactive I think, to prevent this from happening.

Hopefully either Spooner or Couture can be that guy and we can use the I spot on another skill position (cough MLB cough).

Well, it's never been even hinted at. I might have said Edmonton,  but their moves recently on the O-Line confuse me. They get some injuries from last game on the line, and yet they release (T) Washington for nothing.

Apparently, they have good 'in-house' personnel already..

By the way, good for BC to look at Saskatchewan.

Spooner was moved off the PR last week, and it was immediately speculated (on MBB) that someone tried to pluck him.....I don't remember what thread, but someone mentioned it last week.

wonder who made the claim on him..  very very interesting.

Probably BC. Since they tried claiming the rider cdn OL.. Think BC is a safe bet.

I'd bet BC, maybe the Riders. Glad we've kept him. If as Booch mentioned earlier, we lose Bond, its nice that we have Couture, Spooner and Neufeld to fill the that Guard spot.

and Foketi

Considering Wally tried to grab Guy off the riders PR and now have brought in NI Andrew Jones,  it reeks of desperation so i'm saying smart money is on BC trying for Spooner

  • Author

looking very well like it could have been them

When you look at it we could probably field a very serviceable oline with Neufeld, Foketi, Couture and Spooner all playing....quite the departure from where we used to be

Sneaks....just goes to show ya, gm's in desperation mode will come in the back door...Hard to say who for sure but it's not beyond Corky in riderville

I do not get it ..... why does it matter who went fishing in our pond?

Curious, also gives some insight into which teams may be in more injury issues with Nationals then being led to believe in the media.

Doing this is totally allowed by the rules, and yet there is a consensus its a dirty move... yet there is no opportunity cost for the team doing it. Why not? I mean it makes the other team have to shuffle their roster if they think the player is legitimate - and if not, you get a swing at a potential gem on another teams' PR.

I see no issue with it either. If you get the opportunity to potentially start and earn a game cheque on another roster so be it.

its a fair play yes.. but its also frowned upon by almost all GM's across the board.  I imagine if you discuss it with the coach/gm first and then work from there, its all good but just to put a claim for a player on the PR??

that gentleman's agreement that creates animosity between GMs when you abuse it.. thats probably the only real "cost" of it.
