I'm 100% fine with discussing losses. What pisses me off, is the constant fire everyone threads or the insulting titles that pop up. Those just make the poster look immature and I instantly put a * next to everything they say.

Trashing a team (even your team) can be done without looking like an A-hole.

I've been on the dump MB wagon for the last 2 years. But when he game plans well, I mention it. When he doesn't I secretly hope that he gets tossed, but I understand thats just not the way it works at this time of year. So I point out what I thought was wrong and move on.

Definitely no intent to injure, but what's your point? AFAIK - the rule is straight forward, any 'head shot' will be deemed an unnecessary roughness penatly, regardless of the circumstances.

The #1 job for the CFL is to protect their #1 assets. Listen, I appreciate Stanley Bryant's ability to block as much as anybody, but no way, no how, am I going pay $80 to see him play. I pay to see the stars play, and the biggest stars are Qb's.

Any hit to the head, under any circumstance, just like any hit at the knees, under any circumstance, on a QB MUST be called a roughing the passer penalty. It's going to piss off a lot of fans when a marginal call goes against them, but IDC. You're either all in protecting the QB, or you're not. And I realize that the other QB injuries suffered were flukes for sure, with no intent (though Laing was flagged for a low hit even though he pushed into Reilly) to injure, but calling them should reduce the defense's aggressiveness against defenseless Qb's who are extremely vulnerable especially when in the act of or just finish throwing a ball

Funny - now people are on Collaros's bandwagon? hmmmmm who was the guy here who wanted Collaros I wonder hmmmm.......................?????

Meh, doesn't matter. I think Willy has the tools just not the consistency. He's by far the best we got. Brohm - he's a bum. I don't understand how people here can like him. He's a weak armed QB - his mechanics are wrong. Marve- Like KBF says, he's made for the CFL. He just lacks game experience. That being said, I don't think in any shape or form he's on the same level as Collaros but at the same time Marve hasn't played nearly as much as Collaros so it's a bit unfair to call it either way.

But for now - my concern is Willy. I hope the bombers are smart enough to keep him out of the next game he's given a clean bill of health to play in. The way our blocking schemes are set up, I can't see him lasting more than 1 quarter before being drilled in the head again.

So everyone seems to agree that Marve needs experience if he's going to get better.  To get that, he needs reps.  We had a bunch of those available in the 4th quarter last night, but some folks around here don't want to give them to Marve in case we push him too fast and break him?  Huh?

We should develop Marve slowly?  Why?  So he can become a 29 year old backup without much experience.  Hint:  We've already got one of those on the roster.

Marve's one pass attempt was horrible last night.  No argument from me or anyone else for that matter.  As a reason not to play however, it's weak.

Willy was 3 for 6 with an INT before he got hurt.  Those kind of numbers won't win many games.  I seriously doubt we win with Willy.  It was obvious we weren't going to win with Brohm's 2 INT's, 3 yard dump passes and dirt throws.  Why not give Marve the 4th if for nothing else than some experience.

Well, I think the problem is well, sorry to be frank guys but he's 29 years old and he's a BACKUP in the CFL. That says it all right there. And like I say, no offense, I'm a CFL fan just like in hockey there are ECHL fans, but because you're a fan of the league, doesn't make the league anything more than a bush league.

Tonight wouldn't have mattered if we had Warren Moon in his prime back there - Willy, after the first drive, was ineffective and I was thinking 'here's the Willy that closed the season' coming back just right before he took that hellacious hit. Cannot anyone on our offense be smart enough to figure out how to block? I don't blame Willy as he was starting to feel the pressure of the defense and it got worse when  Brohm went it. Oh well, another year of typical CFL football - can't wait for September and the start of Hockey season lol

Worse part - I know we all dump on Rogers for their Hockey coverage but what if TSN got it and put the buffoons they have like Rod Black on hockey duty (they'd have too to many games). Yikes

I still hate the '3' key guys they show at the beginning of the game. I want to see the starting lineups for each side, offense and defense. They can have three guys hilighted but c'mon man, really. Total bush league

Actually, just watch how he 'walked' off the field. That left leg of his was not working. The replay is bad enough, the fact his knee was jello and bending sideways as he was trying to walk confirms there was no support there. Also, he had injured it earlier in the game and they put a 'mocked up' knee brace on it already

    49th season opener....
Last time we won a game in Regina...
    .....I could still remember everything...
Tonight, offense jelled...but defense was mostly Jello....
Easy to play O, when people actually block for the QB/RB's
Drew Willy took full advantage of the situation....
....with poise, good reads and a precise short passing game.....
...to the tune of 22 of 25 325 yds and 3 tds.
Outstanding game, from Paris Cotton....100+ rush yds....
...breaking tackles, and getting YAC in the passing game....
RB Marshall has some pretty good wiggle and speed....
    ....for a big power back.....with 2 TDs
That 2 back system looked real good today....
....and really provides more options....in the redzone...
KR Velting showed potential....had 65 yd return called back
Rough first half for Bryant.... but was very strong down the stretch...
Good game from J. Daniels on that right side....
Chung did not look out of place....in his debut...
Overall, huge passing grade, against vaunted Rider D-line
Moore had his first TD and a productive game....
Denmark still best receiver on the team....
Durant goes down with torn Achilles tendon...ending 1st half.....
Rider's questionable depth....tested early, with multiple injuries
For most part, Bombers controlled ball and clock, with their O...
But, DC Hall's tenure...off to shaky start......
    Gap cancellation almost non-existent....on D
....as Bombers victimized by 3 long TD plays
...and a number of other big gains...
Soft coverages and lack of pressure up front.....
    ....completed the dismal picture...
    Hurl was underwhelming at MLB.....
Big jump ball INT by Adams on goal-line.....
Parts of that game....turned into flag fest...
Riders had some problems understanding new illegal contact rules.....
Back and forth game......the Bomber O took...
....and the D gave back....until the last 2 minutes.....
    Bombers then managed some stops....
....and gave Riders taste of own medicine....
...as they ran the clock out to seal the win.....
And that gin..... turned out nice again......

Terrible news for the first week of the CFL - FOUR Qb's done for a little while. Though Crompton shouldn't be out too long - Lebevre is out for prob 4 to 6 weeks. Durant is done for the season - I don't know about you guys but if I'm a starting QB and my team signs Kevin Glenn I demand a trade immediately - it's like a black cloud follows that man around.

Reilly is tough to say - he may forgo surgery, and if he does and just rehabs and wears a brace he could be back by end of August. However, if I'm him, I have the surgery which I'm sure is a 4 to 6  month recovery.

At this rate - we could have Michael Bishop and Justin Goltz as starting QB's by labour day. Who's next - Lulay?

Great game - unlike last year's home opener against a brand new team who had no idea what they were doing, this win was much more impressive. Not going to start getting to excited until Labour Day though - not falling into that 5 - 1 trap like last year. Not being a pessimist here - just cautious. By far the best game this week - though I missed the Hamilton / Calgary game, Mtrl / Ott and Edm / Tor were total bush league. Embarrassing football games

The way I look at it - it's a veteran presence in the secondary / linebacking group. Not to mention even at 33, this guy brings it on special teams. I don't like a lot of these old age signings (such as Bryant last year) but I like Shell.

I'm sure a lot of these 'cuts' will be travelling throughout Canada for looksies'. I'm hoping Goltz comes back .... j/k

I'm actually surprised Goltz was even invited to the Eskies camp. This is what really pisses me off about the CFL. We bring in total losers like Goltz, give them chances time after time after time, but a Canadian QB? Nope - not a chance, not a sniff. Canadian Qb's are treated in the CFL exactly like African American QB's were treated in the NFL in the early 70's. It's disgusting. I think it should be mandatory for every team to carry one Canadian QB. Even if it's a 'fourth' one (injuries happen). Or, as I've said previously, get rid of the 'National' Rule altogether. Or a hybrid - you have a Canadian QB  on your roster, you get two extra International spots for your team, one starter and one DI.

I like Willy and I think it's a great signing. Only issue I ever had with him, and well the Bomber in general for continuing to leave him in there when he was obviously struggling with reads and his confidence. They (coaching staff) basically pissed away any chance we had at the playoffs by being so stubborn.

I think the Willy of the first 1/3 of last year is closer to the real Willy than the last two thirds. IF he can build on that first part of the year, and learn from the disaster that was the last two thirds, and take us to the Grey Cup, than last year was worth it. If he struggles again.........

Depends on what he does. He shortarmed a perfectly thrown ball to avoid getting hit. That tells me a bit about his character. Would have been a big first down too. If he thinks university kids hit hard, wait till he gets hit by an international safety.

I dunno, I think if our offense could have stayed on the field more, maybe our D woudln't have been a problem. Outside of Ottawa,I'm sure we had the most 2 and outs this year. Considering where we were at the end of July, that is a huge drop off. And no, this isn't another attack on Drew Willy - he's not playing now and I said many times I agree he is our future.
Also, despite how it ended, as mentioned by Mr.P and others, we had, I think a GREAT season. If people said in May "would 7 - 11 be considered a good season" I don't think anyone would complain.

Yes, our defense could have been better. But in reality, should we not give our DC an offseason to work with Walters, McManus, et al for getting other players? Players that can make a difference?

For the offense, MB proved that though it worked early, he clearly couldn't adapt (or was it Willy?) to what defenses started doing to us. It looked better, to me, once Cotton was able to establish a rhythm back there. I just would have liked to have seen a confident Willy back there with him, which really hurts in judging what MB could have done with the double threat of running/passing.

Changes will happen, it does every year for every team. All  know is last year we were 3 -15, (IMO we only were deserving of 1 win though), this year 7 - 11 (and guess who was 7 - 11 last year - Edmonton).

No matter who we bring in, coaching wise, or player wise, next year, I fully expect us to improve. 9 - 9 is the minimum I'm already setting for this team. I wouldn't consider 9 - 9 a successful year, I'm just thinking that's as low as they can go. Last year, at this time, I was thinking at best, we'd be 6 - 12 this year. So believe it or not, for the entire year, I'm happy with where we finished overall. It just could have been so much better. If we go 5 - 1 to start next season, I'd bet anyone here that we'll be better than 7 - 11 at the end of the season.

BC would be far better off preparing for that very tough Montreal defence than trying smoke and mirrors.

Lulay, the very last time that he played, did not look like a QB who would provide a team with the necessary wherewithal to actually win a game, never mind a playoff game.
I understand the desperation, but a determined game plan will go much farther than an ill-healed QB who hasn't played in a while.
