  1. Threatening to bench or cut someone who is playing poorly is pointless when that player looks at the PR and does not see someone capable of playing better than him. Making an empty threat is way worse than not saying anything at all. Sorry to say, as much as I am in favour of putting Burke out of our misery, I see no hope of him leaving before the end of the season. In a perfect world, the GM would go to Burke and offer full HC pay for the rest of the season if he "resigns" and steps into his former job a defensive coordinator, either replacing Creehan or working beside him. Yeah. Like that is gonna happen.
  2. I should think that, with all the import O-linemen available a fter the NFL cuts, we ought to be able to get more than one to push January and instantly replace Douglas/Boatman. If we cannot, that tells us a great deal about our scouting staff.
  3. There comes a time when a coach and/or GM becomes so strongly associated with repeated losses and humiliations that the players simply give up and give up listening. Yes, they are supposed to be pros and play their hardest, but how do you get yourself up for a game when you know without a doubt that your team doesn't match up to any other team in the league and hasn't for years? This team doesn't seem to have any leadership from the players or the coaches, and there has to be a loss of respect for the coaches and the organization.
  4. Better to be lucky than good. Napoleon chose only generals who were "lucky".
  5. why don't we tell our current dbs that this is the goal? That way when they fail they will actually be in tight coverage. why don't we tell our current dbs that this is the goal? That way when they fail they will actually be in tight coverage. The only way this group of DB's could be in tight coverage is if they are drinking before and during the game.
  6. Of course he won't be a part of the bloodletting as there's no way he's responsible for the mess in Edmonton. GMs get two, manybe three head coaches to scapegoat before they walk the plank themselves. Maybe Greg Marshall redux? Some mules respond well to a carrot, others to a stick- some need a very big stick. Hervey has gone all-in with his comments. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
  7. He called a spade a spade, and his feelings are probably not a surprise to anyone in the locker room. Unless Hervey is completely witless, he has likely warned the players and coaches repeatedly and there will be a bloodbath at the end of the season.
  8. This game isn't about winning- today the team has to be playing for respect (not to mention their jobs) and we fans are hoping for a reason to believe that the rest of the year won't be a series of losses adding up to the worst season in team history. Anyone remember the days when we delighted in giggling at Saskatchewan, Toronto and Hamilton?
  9. If the Bombers are not chasing him as hard as they can, they're nuts. He is not going to single-handedly turn the season around but this team is sorely lacking in competition.
  10. The article was totally damning of both Mack and the process used to choose him. Small wonder the team is in the mess it is.
