  1. That may be the case, but the head coach is ultimately responsible for who he hires and the product on the field, good, bad or indifferent. Ask the former head of Vokswagen.
  2. The biggest issue may be that Miller might be undermining Walters and O'Shea if this is being done without their initiative. I do not think that O'Shea is a good head coach, but he deserves to be treated with respect so long as he is still here.
  3. Our season is no longer in our hands, and we are reduced to hoping that BC and Montreal implode worse than we have, but that ain't likely.
  4. if this report is accurate, it undermines both Walters and O'Shea and goes a long way towards making Walters think very hard about the U of Guelph job. If O'Shea chooses his own people, he is due either praise or criticism for how things turn out. If he is being told who he should have, it emasculates him and absolves him of any responsibility. If he still has any pride left, he ought to resign, and this seems to explain why this team has been so screwed up for so long, just like when Bauer was here.
  5. Ottawa may be the beneficiary of Burris having a great year which he may never reach again, but despite a lot of slagging in this forum, DesJardins has made some smart acquisitions. The coaching staff appears to be decent if not exceptional, so that is on DesJardins as well. It has to be really difficult to assess our offensive players until we have good coaching for the offense and O-line and another training camp to get everyone on the same page in a new system.
  6. I didn't think that Walters was into booze, but you shouldn't have been so harsh on him.
  7. Its only his rookie year, but I thought Waggoner would be more noticeable on special teams. A couple of games when the Bombers were getting run over in the first halves and were punting (a lot), I focused on watching Waggoner. He didn't embarrass himself by being roadkill but he didn't stand out more than the other players as faster or having more of a nose for the ball.
  8. OK, but if they are back, and you don't take the year off, will you change your handle to backtracker?Touche'- but stay tuned to see.And if they are back and we suck again are you gonna step up and say crap these guys did suck? Maybe change your name to no indeed?Or instead of Mr Dee Mr Duped? OK, but if they are back, and you don't take the year off, will you change your handle to backtracker?Touche'- but stay tuned to see.And if they are back and we suck again are you gonna step up and say crap these guys did suck? Maybe change your name to no indeed?Or instead of Mr Dee Mr Duped? Stay tuned. If the same people are still at the helm next season with the almost guaranteed result, there will be enough misery here that I would not need to add by doing an "I told you so". That would be unkind.
  9. At first overall or 9th overall, odds are solid we get a legit oline prospect as long as we draft the right guy. Also, Wagoneer has been a monster on the teams from what ive seen, always down field fast and making hits. hes also looked adequate in minimal reps on defense. To say we shoulda done this or that is pointless because we hypothetically could have a ratio breaking player in an uncommon position. Worth a first rounder in my books everytime. Only drawback is there is guarantees. We coulda kept the pick and watching him excel elsewhere while our first overall oliner is off to the NFL or a bust as well.. Cant really make a claim to wasted pick until a few seasons go by. Yup those old 3-ton 4WD Jeeps would really barrel downfield.
  10. How dare the batard treat you so dismissively without even a tryout. I'm sure you would do well lined up at drawback.
  11. MOS will have to see film on Davis first. There is a completely sane reason. If Toronto beats BC and Edmonton beats Montreal next weekend, it will come down to week 20, the final week. They will play to win at that point...although I cannot see them winning. You have spoken heresy and will be pilloried here. Fantasy is so much more fun than reality.
  12. At the beginning of the season, I thought that overall, the team had improved, but as the season draws to a sad close, the inescapable conclusion is that the team is a little better here, a little worse there but in total about the same. That has very little to do with money but mostly to do with the people in charge not doing their jobs well enough.
  13. OK, but if they are back, and you don't take the year off, will you change your handle to backtracker? Touche'- but stay tuned to see.
  14. I know a guy who was so despondent over the Bomber seasons that he determined to end it all by drinking brake fluid. But then he decided to stop.
  15. I agree, that a loss is a loss in the standings. But if the team is playing hard, in the game for 4 quarters, and has a chance to win at the end, I enjoy the game. Falling down 20 points and then bringing the score close in garbage time is not a game I like to watch. Yup. I watched enough reruns in summer. It gets boring and irritating after awhile.
  16. There is no sane reason for Davis to not see the field now that mathematics is the only indicator that the Bombers might be in the post-season. But I won't be surprised if he doesn't.
  17. O'Shea has proven that he can neither manage a game well enough to win consistently, and his record of choices in assistant coaches is as bad as his win/loss record. He cannot point to one part of his job description as having met or exceeded expectations.
  18. I'm not sure if money lies at the heart of this mess. We are bound by the same salary cap as other teams, but even though that does not cover administrative and coaching staff, it seems that it comes down to choosing the right people for the right positions. All of our coaching and scouting staff need to be looked at long and hard and even our GM needs to be challenged as to why he ought to still be here.
  19. Would this get anyone extensions? if you mean hair extensions, then yes. otherwise......
  20. You don't consider Darvin Adams as a premier receiver? I think he has done pretty well, considering the quarterbacking we've had this year. The other lacks, I agree with.
  21. I'm not sure if Hall can be solely blamed for the losses and inconsistent play of the defence. The defence has been the only bright spot this year and we would have had a record like the Riders if he wasn't there. We are missing about three good defensive linemen and a dominant middle linebacker, so Hall has had to try to make do with what he has on hand, which is sort of OK, but far from great.
  22. Well, there is Antabuse. If you do drink, the effect is produces is exactly the same as paying $60.00 for a ticket to watch the Bombers lose.
  23. Joe Zaleski did. Actually he had a worse record than O'Shea's first two years. Bomber organization stuck with him for a third year and were rewarded with 3-12-1 season. I stand corrected, but still: QED
  24. This mess has to be placed at O'Shea's feet. He chose his own set of assistants and so far the offensive, defensive, special teams and O-line coaches has been exposed as bad choices. O'Shea is probably a good guy and loves his dog and may be beloved by his players, but the results are just not there. You can call for continuity, as a good thing, but continuity means more of the same, and this is not close to being satisfactory. No rookie head coach has ever survived this sort of horrible first two years, and for good reason.
  25. Any team can have a bad game or series of losses, but this is a pattern that has extended for two years under this coaching regime (with a couple of tweaks).
