  1. If the Bombers are down at the half again, we're one for. The D-line changes mean less pressure on Burris, so he ought to have a field day.
  2. Or a lot more body hair.
  3. I'm tired of being teased with false hope. Time for the 2015 Bombers to cook or get off the stove (cleaned up for public consumption).
  4. Berry may not have been on his players' Christmas card lists, but he was the last winning coach we had, and he didn't have an All-star quarterback, either. This has come up here before, but there are a lot of winning coaches in many sports who were not beloved by their players- Tom Landry, and Scotty Bowman to name a couple. And we've had a couple of coaches who were well-liked by their players but disasters on the scoreboard.
  5. I suggest you look back at the decisions made by this regime over the past two years and it may give you the answer to your question.
  6. At this point in the season, no team looks unbeatable, although Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Calgary are the cream. Ottawa continues to surprise, winning with smoke and mirrors, and then.....there's the dregs: BC, Montreal, the Riders and us, alas. Its going to be a week or two with a lot of upsets.
  7. The unfortunate car. That was a nice old Thunderbird. It was a T-bird, wasn't it?
  8. Supporting your beloved team does not automatically mean you applaud bonehead performances by the players, inept coaching or bad decisions by the GM or scouting staff. To me it means calling a spade a spade and continuing to follow and look for the best for the team. If fans do not demand better, we will continue to get what we've been getting since we were spoiled by Cal Murphy and Mike Reilly. Maybe Doug Berry would have fallen into that category as well, but Bauer thought better of it.
  9. I'm not a coach, but Jake seems to have been underutilized.
  10. Weird. He wouldn't even have gotten the interview chair warm. Maybe he didn't like the dressing room decor.
  11. This is a hoot, and well worth the read.
  12. Well, something has to be.
  13. Just finished watching the highlight reel. He obviously has the physical tools- good arm and mobility when he has to run, but his setup mechanics to throw are not good. We've had a number of promising pivots come here who were too lazy and/or arrogant to learn their craft. Aaah- maybe this one will be different.
  14. Imagine the hue and cry around here when the season is over and there is a lot less to kvetch about.
  15. You're expecting logic in this forum?
  16. But but but....we were promised he would be back in plenty of time for this season. Could it be that we have been hornswoggled? All you had to do was to look up that type of injury to know they were BS'ing us. I think most of us knew. Yup. I don't like being treated as if fans are dumb. We've had too much of that lately.
  17. Welcome aboard, and don't take umbrage at the nitpicking and occasional spewing of bile here.
  18. I saw that hit as well, but it didn't seem to slow BJ very much. Does make me wonder how many such blatant and potentially serious hits go missed and uncalled with the effects showing up a year or three later.
  19. I thought that Catalon ran a lot like a certain Argo running back who went on to be a head coach with some success. Catalon looks to be quick, didn't break too many tackles but great balance/body control and despite his NFL assessment that he had questionable hands, looked to be at least decent as a receiver. Durability may be an issue.
  20. i rarely wish ill for anyone, but......
  21. Nothing wrong with that. Except that it shows how utterly pathetic our scouting and GM are. Actually quite the opposite.....because they're constantly working to upgrade, and not just sitting on "Ehhh, good enough....." Really? How many of these revolving door guys is on the roster right now? It is one thing to continue to bring in people but if it not producing anything of note then, well ... I would totally agree with you if there was evidence that it was producing results but like the rest of what this regime is doing there just isn't any evidence to back up all this faith people have in them. This is a 5-11 team that is only in the hunt for a play-off spot because there are equally crappy teams losing around them. There has to be an assumption an assumption that we are not bringing in people at random, but rather those that have had some vetting as to talent, smarts and heart. I have not been overly impressed with McManus and Co.'s bush beating to date, particularly in finding good QB prospects, but next training camp has to produce or else. We need help at defensive tackle, running back, receiver, quarterback and an offensive tackle, and D-back or two. Of all of those, the quarterback position is one our scouting has really sucked at finding. I'm tired of us having to pick through other teams' leftovers.
  22. Davis looks to be a real long-shot to make the team. Not particularly big (5'7") and quick but not a burner. Seems to be a leader and smart but will probably be an also-ran.
  23. FWIW: over at Riderfans, they seem to think that there is real conflict in Calgary building, and a possibility Hufnagel will not want to give up coaching, even if it means moving on. And, needless to say, they are all breathless and sweaty about him maybe coming to the Riders.
  24. If the Stamps force Huffer out, it would probably be a mistake of epic proportions. Dave D. may turn out to be a good head coach, but it is a roll of the dice. Even Popp and Buono, who are pretty bright guys with tonnes of experience, have had difficulty finding good coaches.
  25. But but but....we were promised he would be back in plenty of time for this season. Could it be that we have been hornswoggled?
