Definitely enjoyed LaPo in the booth. Nice to hear some insights on what teams are doing vs. whatever random crap comes from Suitor.
Man FAJ and Maier looked bad.

He does it clean too. No PIs called against him that I can remember.
I think that's the big difference. A lot of DBs get caught just trying to disrupt the receiver, Holm just goes up and knocks it down.

What makes u say that....has just as fast in the 40...and is more explosive and has better fast twitch that u can easily see when he closes, or moves in to make a play
Just saying that because it seems most DBs struggle out in space to make plays on the ball. Holm has been noticeably make plays. Not a a knock on Parker, don't remember too well how he did on deep balls last year.

The same argument could be made for going for the pick... Look what almost happened to CAL last week in SSK.
Mitchell was coming back over the top of Houston. If he tries to push the ball away, Mitchell very well could have ripped it out.
Were they even going for the pick last week? Hard to tell because it was such a poor attempt at catching the ball.

I’ll definitely take it, it’s going to happen with the cover corners who don’t see a lot of targets. It was the same thing with Alford. Often gets forgotten that the other team gets paid to play too. Just as much as Houston can jump a route successfully, the other team can bait him successfully.
Overall, I’d take Houston as easily one of the top 2-3 corners in the CFL. Seems like guys like BVD prefer a player like Abu who gets targeted 10 times a game for 6 first downs, because he limits gains to just past the first down marker as a sure tackler. That’s not to rag on ADS either, but there’s an obvious reason why teams are picking on him - it’s better than throwing it to the other side of the field.
My only complaint about Houston as he seems to get beat over the top for huge gain at least once a game. But it happens to aggressive corners who are out on their own. If they bite on a double move its over. Hope the coaches are coaching him up on when its clear teams are trying to set him up for a deep shot.
14 minutes ago, Booch said:the same can be said about Holm...But he lacks the tackling talent of ADS....Thats why Parker is our best option at the other HB spot...he's twitchy fast like Nichols to actually break up that pass...or to close before the first down stick and kill drives....plus he is a fierce tackler and physical....if by week 10 or Db's arent Rose/Nichols/BA/Parker /houston then something is wrong...thats our best starting 5
Agree Parker would be better up near the line and against the run. I'll bet Parker isn't breaking up all those passes 40 yards down field though.
Holm has great ball skills on deep shots. Times his jump and make plays to knock it down. Maybe he'd be a good cover safety.

It was late enough they will always throw that flag
Hopefully Cole learned that if you’re going to hit him late you might as well actually hit him. Thought he was going to blow Corny up with
how fast he was coming in

So they would have knelt at the q5 instead of closer to midfield? That's a nothing burger. He made the play all that matters.
Ya my initial thought was knock it down! But with so little time left the safer play is to catch the ball. Who knows what happens if you try to knock it down

Thank god this game ended as it should. Uglier than it needed to be but no doubt in the end.
Now let’s get Kolo out for Eli.
Hope Schoen isn’t hurt bad.Lawler back has been dope.

Noticed Cole just spying Corny the last drive. Maybe they learned a lesson finally on qbs that can run.

Houston listening to commentary. Talking about jumping routes and gets beat on a pump and go.

The entire inside of the ol. Neuf has been toasted. Gray too. Gray should be the 6th ol in the heavy set. He’s great on that edge. Dobson, Eli etc aren’t good at that.
Eli in at C is the big win we need.Agree Gray is great out on the edge or in space. Super athletic.
Dobson more beef in the middle.

So we really think Kyle Walters is going to let things fester all year? Guy has always been proactive about his roster.
Walter is always looking to improve. Has made moves later in the season the last few years.

Maybe Wilson and Rose aren't ready to be rostered yet. Fine.
But jesus why are we starting and extra Canadian and a global? How can Cole not beat out Maruo? Can he really be 4th on the depth chart?
Haba goes out and they don't add another Dline?

Nothing is getting changed on a short week with one practice.
I expect Lawler in and not much else except for injury-related moves.
A few guys are coming off the 6-game that practiced in full last week. Rose, Wilson, maybe Parker
They could be ready to go.

Wilson should be back next week by the sounds of it.
Briggs doesn’t need to be on the field other than ST at this point in his career.
Can Cole not play D? He’s great on teams but why is he on the roster if he can’t step in on D instead of an ancient slow Canadian

bout time we did something to adress the roster inefficiency...Exume will be huge on teams....
He was killer a few years ago. Don't remember seeing him much the last couple years but I didn't watch a lot of Als games.

BA got burned watching Fajardo instead of staying on top of the deepest route on the big play. Then the next play he picked him off.
Nice to see the D make some plays finally.
Definitely looked like he was out of position on the deep play. More than made up for it on the next one.
