WildPath reacted to SpeedFlex27 in Around the League: 2019 Off SeasonZontar, you handled the criticism of your hometown from Bluto pretty well & your response was diplomatic. I'm impressed. If that was most Rider fans, there'd be a big meltdown.

WildPath reacted to SpeedFlex27 in QB situation WinnipegMy son played for Chaps at SFU. He used a version of his offense adapted for 4 down football. It was an extensive, difficult offense for him & the other qbs to learn. It wasn't that the offense is bad as it's not. It's totally based on creating mismatches on offense with the defense. The problem is the terminology isn't qb friendly as Chaps never was a qb so it is difficult from a qb perspective to learn. It's more receiver friendly than quarterback. The reads are different if you're a qb. I can only tell you it's quite complicated for a new qb to learn. Again, my son thought the offensive playbook was actually pretty decent but it comes at the qbs from a different perspective. It takes awhile to learn compared to other CFL offenses. Ricky Ray could probably pick it up easier than Franklin.

WildPath reacted to MOBomberFan in QB situation WinnipegHard to picture Matt getting more $$$ than we already agreed to give him, and hard to picture the Bombers extending him at any significant cost when the club previously built an out-clause for 2020 into his contract... very intriguing. Want some deets.

WildPath reacted to GCn20 in Around the League: 2019 Off SeasonThis obviously one the Regina reporters asking him this, (who else would care) and Mike Reilly gave a P.C. response instead of laughing in his face. Everybody knew Reilly to BC was a done deal since mid season of last year. I guess the best way to end any speculation of tampering by Hervey is for Reilly to say he was open to offers though.

WildPath got a reaction from MOBomberFan in Alliance of American FootballIt's unfortunately that most of what I've heard about increases coming to our CBA will be basically given to the top players. I'd rather bump up the minimum salary a bit. I wonder how often we convince a star player not to try the NFL with a big contract compared to how many players we could attract to the league with a higher minimum contract.

WildPath reacted to SpeedFlex27 in Alliance of American FootballThe CFLPA are run by Canadian offensive linemen who as a group are higher paid than most other positions as rookies. Only the lower draft picks play for minimum. They could care less about the entry level as most Canadian OL will be paid above that. They have basically taken over running the Association. That is why the money goes to the vets & not the rooks. And it's hurting the CFL.

WildPath reacted to Mr Dee in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonPoints after:
👁🗨 Debate last year at training camp on who won the safety spot. Taylor Loffler was in tough to secure the starting position. Fate stepped in, Jones got injured, and Loffler grabbed the cash after being voted an all-star. Funny how that works.
👁🗨”Something gotta give.” Kyle Walters.
He’s referring to all the money spent on top end Free Agents and squeezing all bodies under the SMS. Some good players will be released.
👁🗨 As early as last fall, the Bombers defensive Coaches were pointing at Winston Rose as a target at Free Agency.
👁🗨 Nice to hear Chungh contacted the Bombers to thank the Coaches and the Org. for drafting and tutoring him.
Willie Jefferson -
“It’s the team, the organization and a couple of guys I know got in contact with me and told me they wanted me... Come out here and let’s try to do something we’ve been trying to do for the last couple of years."

👁🗨 Lalate depth signing for Wpger and LB DJ Lalama..

WildPath reacted to WinnipegGordo in Free Agent FrenzyJeff Hamilton reports Jefferson got north of $200 grand.
Demski made $148 last season and was asking upwards of $180. Hamilton believes he receive somewhere between the two numbers.
-
WildPath reacted to Ripper in Around the League: 2019 Off SeasonI'll pass on Jeffcoat and Leonard and go with Jefferson. Hughes is getting old, likely why he faded down the stretch, likely see that again this year, kind of the same as your RB

WildPath reacted to Blueandgold in Free Agent FrenzyAs badly as I want us to get a big play reciever, at this point I’d be happy if we saved our cash for when Matthews is done waiting for the NFL or better yet if a Zylstra becomes available.
I don’t want us to blow our load on a player like Manny, honestly I’d just sign Dressler cheap and go with three Canadian receivers to start the year if we can’t recruit an effective one. A guy like Simonise could end up being exactly what we need and he’s already on the team.

WildPath reacted to do or die in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonGot the Walters interview here:
We shall go on to the Cup, we shall fight in the West
we shall look on the seas and oceans,
we shall recruit, with growing confidence and growing strength in the passing game,
we shall hunt on the beaches,
we shall peruse the landing grounds,
we shall turn over the fields and the streets,
we shall burrow into the hills;
we shall never surrender,

WildPath reacted to Wanna-B-Fanboy in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonAfter his Swaggerville days and such, I gave this dude a hard time- but in the end... Guy's got class.

WildPath reacted to MOBomberFan in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonIn only 3 games with Nichols as his QB back in 2015, Walker tallied 31 receptions for 470 yards and a TD. That works for me.
-
WildPath reacted to Arnold_Palmer in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonWe didn’t whif. We gave competitive offers but there was teams out there desperate enough to back the brink trucks. We’re a good team. We don’t need to over pay players, while I would have loved to get one of them, there’s still some decent receivers on the market.

WildPath reacted to Jimmy Pop in Bomber News: 2019 Off SeasonI don't think it's ludicrous to suggest RECs may be following QBs they like.. .as another poster theorized the other day.
With D.Walker... I think there's lots of alluring things about TO and MLSE. Football specifc, fanbase etc... hell no. But as we see in other sports... lots of guys hate the spotlight. The flipside to the great fanbase argument is in a place like Toronto, Walker can conceivably have a year with no real pressure to succeed other than internal drive. Still makes the same coin...if not more... and I'd agree too that MLSE prob has some sort of housing options for these guys.
When guys spurn Wpg for the big cities, I often think we're lucky. I want the guys who see the team we have, Osh's leadership, the string of playoff appearances... if this city ain't good enough for you, than you're not good enough for us. Simple.

WildPath reacted to Mr Dee in Free Agent FrenzyI’ve been excited in past years when we signed our share (and more) of free agents. - It didn’t work out.
I’m more patient now.
I’m dazzled by the Red Carpet treatment by a number of teams and even tempted to be a bit envious.
BUT
When I look at our roster, and see all the key re-signings that we’ve inked, and the couple of additions that we have made, I realize we didn’t need those more expensive options. We’re close.
Question marks remain, but you really didn’t want all the fun in one day, did you?

WildPath reacted to ALuCsRED in Free Agent Frenzyif all these teams blow their cash in February, we should be sitting pretty when the 5 receivers trying out for the NFL return to Canada. (Duke, Mitchell, Spencer, Williams Lambert, Michel)

WildPath reacted to kelownabomberfan in Free Agent Frenzyok so we've got Logan Couture at center....fair enough. Hope that Geoff Gray is good enough to start. It really sucks that Goosen retired, I was looking forward to him pushing guys down the field again like in the WSF.
