Job well done to the admins of this site. So happy to have found it after the fiasco of the "other" Bomber site.

Why discount the guy before he's had a chance to prove his worth?  I agree with letting him start as an offensive assistant in some capacity to see how he picks up the duties.  Could surprise us!

If he has a level of interest with it, I'd be more than happy to see him start the process of climbing the ladder in the coaching ranks. That doesn't mean we hand him over the title of QB coach, that means he starts as an offensive assistant and works his way up as he proves his value.

Pffft Tim Burke was just given a steaming pile of crap as a roster to work with. I don't think anyone could coach these guys into winners.

I am just so happy that next years team is not going to be as lifeless and gutless as the Tim Burke teams. O'Shea just seems like the kind of person who won't put up with that kind of ****. Players will either do the job and put in the effort or they'll be out on their ass.

I decided at 48 that getting into shape is probably a now or never kind of thing. Dropped 45 lbs since the beginning of the year and I can honestly say I haven't gone hungry. I exercise about an hour a day and weight now what I weighted in high school. A svelt 190 on a 6 foot 1 inch broad shouldered frame. Sure there are love handles, but I can live with that. The 45 missing pounds I can certainly live without!

BaconNBigBlue reacted to Mr Dee in Golf: Ethical Question
What if you were playing in the club championship tournament finals and the match was halved at the end of 17 holes?

You had the honour and hit your ball a modest two hundred fifty yards to the middle of the fairway, leaving a simple six iron to the pin.

Your opponent then hits his ball, lofting it deep into the woods to the right of the fairway.

Being the golfing gentleman that you are, you help your opponent look for his ball.

Just before the permitted five minute search period ends, your opponent
says: "Go ahead and hit your second shot and if I don't find it in time, I'll concede the match."

You hit your ball, landing it on the green, stopping about ten feet from the pin.

About the time your ball comes to rest, you hear your opponent exclaim from deep in the woods: "I found it!".

The second sound you hear is a click, the sound of a club striking a ball and the ball comes sailing out of the woods and lands on the green, stopping no more than six inches from the hole.

Now here is the ethical dilemma:

Do you pull the cheating bastard's ball out of your pocket and confront him with it or do you keep your mouth shut?

I've got the broad shoulders too but there's nothing that bugs me more than having something that fits across the shoulders and chest but is way way too big around the stomach... and I'm not even that thin either. I just feel like I'd need to weigh 300 pounds for this stuff to fit properly.

When does a team ever confirm to the public which individual was responsible for the hiring of another individual?

As far as Wade being the one to call Marcel goes, it's such a non-issue. Who cares? Maybe Burke said to him, "hey Wade, I'm too busy to audition offensive assistants, can you find out if there are any available?" and Miller obliged. Who knows? Who cares? They're all working as one unit and if Burke wanted an offensive assistant (which he did) and Miller got him one, then it's not meddling so who really cares.

Goltz will be evaluated by two different standards.  For the CFL, his performances have been middling so far, with a share of positive and negative signs.  By Bomber standards, this is the best quarterbacking we've had in two years.  We've had to watch Pierce play the last four years - and brutally suck the last two seasons - so maybe we should give Goltz a little time before we turn the pitchforks on him.

People always say "The Bombers should develop a QB" and then turn on young prospects after a few games.  If we're going to be awful this year (and most likely this season isn't going to be pretty) then why not at least stick with a young QB and let him work out some kinks?

and I'm pointing out the foolishness of that mentality. I mean really how many times has firing anyone midseason actually worked out long term for this team in the last 2 decades? That should be a lesson for people to cool their jets on this. The whole idea of "I'm angry I demand a sacrifice to appease me!" has led to more setbacks in the long term future of this team than anything else.

Now that the decision has been made, the coaches better be working on a game plan to utilize Goltz's skill set. Surely to god they O line has enough beef to work together to open a small hole for Simpson. Once he gets through, he should be able to make yards. Rolls outs, toss out and what not, should keep the defense off the field and rested. Here's a novel idea. Don't throw for 5 yards when you need 8 and how about a series of 10 yard throws. A string of first downs and the next thing you know, you're in the end zone. No need to throw 40 yard bombs all game. Mix it to hell up!

In Pierce's last 18 games (so a full season of appearances) here are his numbers:
And let's not discount the fact that we have to go all the way back to September of 2011 to total up 18 appearances.

    240/395 (60.7%) for 3125 yards, 9 TD and 21 INT

In the same time frame (for fair comparison) here are the combined numbers of every other Bomber QB

    394/662 (59.5%) for 4638 yards, 19 TD and 23 INT

For the record, here are some more numbers to chew on over that time frame.
Pierce is throwing an INT every 18.8 passes, while the other QBs averaged an INT every 28.7 passes
Pierce averaged 7.95 passing yards per attempt, while the other QBs averaged 7 passing yards per attempt.
Pierce averaged a TD pass every 43.8 (!!!) passes, while the other QBs averaged a TD pass every 34.8 (still horrible)

In that time frame, Pierce had one 300 yard passing game and three games where he threw more touchdowns than interceptions. That is absolutely horrible. In comparison, the other QBs we've trotted out have pieced together five 300 yard games (including a 400 yard game) and eleven games with more passing touchdowns than interceptions.

The last time Buck Pierce had a game with 2+ TD and 0 INT? August 26, 2011. He's only done it three times in four years with the Bombers. Joey Elliott and Alex Brink matched that number in 2012 combined.
