It's been damned near a decade with the same tackles so..... kind of an unfair thing to worry about. If there's an open spot on the roster and a rookie earns they spot they aren't afraid to play them

ZC been getting hammered a lot last yr and a bit...maybe after review we determined Yosh was a factor...who knows...but if u review games last yr u will see he had guys get free...some clean quite often...he def isn't mobile and quick off the snap like he was

And he is nowhere the technician or good with hand battles and work like Bryant

If you wanna learn and see what makes him so good watch a few games and just him...the most subtle and totally almost simple things he does will take guys right off their attack...and that's not even using his physical skills...Yosh didn't have that...hence his skill will erode fast...once his mobility and quickness is compromised...he becomes a liability

I don't care what would've happened if the ball hadn't hit the crossbar.... idiots like to say the Bombers got lucky... I say the Riders luck finally ran out... on that final drive there was the Sayles almost pick that would've ended the game... BA almost had a pick that would've ended the game... if Fajardo holds on to that "incomplete" a split second longer, it's a fumble and the game is over... Rider finally stopped fluking that final drive.

most definately...the horseshoe finally fell out

  3. that pass was gonna be either picked off, or swatted away....and from height of crossbar....,,trajectory of ball when it hit it and the depth of the receiver I think it was gonna be another classic Faf overthrow anyway.

And likely is Sask fashion even if they made the catch the kicker prob would have missed the convert...which would have been just as fitting and end....losers....just lose...110 yrs of history has defined it

Hey, if they feel that a year after they let him go as he was behind too many guys here and he's a good option now that those guys are gone I guess I'll live with that. I just have to feel that he costs more than others we have coming to camp and that the most recent history of poor roster mgmt could lead to him starting over someone that might be more raw now but has a higher ceiling overall.

You have to think that Lofton signing this early in FA would indicate that we made him a pretty good offer to come, sure he can get cut at anytime but... Can we afford to pay depth more than league minimum? I can't see Lofton signing today for minimum.

For me it's a combination of the player and what he hasn't shown so far in his career and how much more he costs than a pure rookie. If we are relying to have Neufeld helping this guy be good enough, wouldn't the same hold true for a raw rookie?

or he wanted a chance to win and be part of a succesful organization...guys will jump at that too

My apologies to the forum, apparently I am feeling a little punchy today, should have realized it earlier when I chose to argue about how many Subway locations in EK/Transcona in the restaurant/food thread...

theres a thread for that?? lol

  5. I am confident who we find for that spot will work out, and if a reclaim project that once here....will be well above average.

History with this regime/coaching staff has shown we make O-line guys productive...Hardrick had a foot out the door of the league until we brought him in...Chungh was good here....has been a bust in B.C...Kolo was discarded and unwanted, and tho not a world beater was part of Best oline in CFL.....Bond was a machine here....did squat elsewhere....even Speller....undrafted...unwanted....picked up off scrap heap....Anchored our line at center for a Cup win...we loose Goosen unexpectedly to retirement...we have Couture step in and be stellar

We will make it work I am sure...plus our recent draft success with olineman has shown we see the guys who project to be legit....Would be funny if Loften came in here for 85k...Anchored the right side of the best line again while Hardrick shows more decline and that line flounders with his 235k price tag...I can actually see that occurring to be honest

Yes, Lofton started for us in place of Big Stan in the last game in 2022 and we didn't see enough to have him here in 2023 over Richmond. If Sask didn't want him for LT in 2024 why would we want him here to try out for RT. I sure hope we signed him for league minimum.

They think that hawkins is gonna be a star....mind you I dont see it, and has durability issues....plus Oday is an idiot at assessing oline talent obviously

  7. have to agree...he couldnt unseat Hardrick and Bryant here...who in the league could have...then he went to MTL and wasnt half bad....then 2 crap olines in Ott and Sask

I tend to trust our judgement on oline guys based on what we have seen the last 6..7 yrs...He will be on a line with all quality guys, quality coaching and winning environment....maybe this is his finally getting it moment...and I sure he comes in cheap to boot

As far as I can see, Lofton's being brought into battle with everyone else for the RT spot.  Nothing more than that.  I'm hoping they bring in someone better, but that's what training camp is for, right?

yup...a competitor with experience in the CFL and our system for the spot, and a PR spot for injury reserve....not anointed the starter by any means

If we can have one guy doing all 3 kicking jobs, dress 6 ol, not wasting a di on the marine, and proper use of the fake ni we could gain a TON of active roster depth.
No more hallet as the only back up db, or no back up WRs other than grant etc.  we could carry an imp sts guy who is actually good on kick cover even

yup...100 percent...and really Castillo can do all 3...and is a above average punter....Use that Global spot as a ST guy...like Karamoko.....we don't need that Aussie punter ...unless he is exceptional and a real diff maker...no point

  10. Dolegala can throwit deep...but not with any authority...long arching soft tosses....so easy to adjust and would be a interception machine...Unless he has 3 Lawlers/Gino Lewis's and push off Rhymes to win the floater battle...same deep ball as the Faj...just that he can get it downfield a lot further

was a reason he couldn't stick in the NFL with his height

He also has been poorly coached and holds the ball in the pocket, and when moving around trying to move his launch point in a really poor position and will be a fumble machine as well and be strip sacked a ton

  11. signing some of our own are huge signings....as other teams were prepared to pay a ransom for them....thats not to be understated..those were technically 2 the top free agaents on the market this yr....can't fault us that they were our own guys

As @Mike said...Strev is a huuuge pick up...and dirt cheap...trust me when you see him this spring you will be amazed at his transformation....and he is huge for locker room continuity and keeping the culture chugging.

As much as many liked Brown....he wasn't our future....and Strev this yr is gonna offer a ton...way more than Brown would have

and yup...another huge thing is Ford back...and expect him extended at some point....he offers a ton of value and ability for us to do some different things

if any other team had signed BO...Schoen and Strev for 580k...TOTAL...We would have all said they killed it in free agency....so obviouslywe must have....no?

I mean maybe there is some confusion but that’s just not right. Habba had 4 sacks while jeffcoat was out last year playing in his place and wj was playing better before jj came back.
2023 jj missed weeks 1-3 and 5. In weeks 1 and 5 wj had 4 sacks. In weeks 1-3 haba had 1 sack in each game. His 4th came in week 15, which jj missed.
That’s 7 sacks with out jj in 4 games for our ends.

Yeah..I kinda wondered what he was babbling about as Haba started in place of JJ and then couldn't get back on roster when JJ was back cause of a Seal

I am actually looking forward to them only dressing 6 OL on the active roster this season (hopefully). Dressing 7 guys last season was another waste of a roster spot that hindered them elsewhere.

as mentioned...total inefficient roster....and games dressing Schmeckle...That one Oline guy..That Sask scrap heaped from us....when we could have dressed Murphy and Kelly all yr for work on teams, and just develop....games where guys didnt even need to have their damn cleats on as they didnt even get a token snap just for the sake of getting a rep.....shameful really for this coach who is supposed to be the elite of the elite...hope fully this narrative is finally put to bed an we never have to complain about it again...fingers crossed

same...if they wanna bring in extra beef they have that Thomas guy who we double numbered all yr long as the 8th olineman...maybe thats why he was brought back hahaah

I think Jackson was originally used at FB as a temporary solution until Mike Miller returned to play.  According to Miller the team tried all season to get approval for his return from a chronic neck injury that would not heal.  Approval never came so Jackson stayed.

we had a full back tho...who was with us yr previous...and had played it all his life....and who actually was a good st guys too...

  15. if we can get consistent active push in the middle, and a complimentary end.....and yes another one to rotate which we most likely will have now as the Seal has been removed from the situation, then I think we will be just fine up front...With Lawson at one tackle...and a rotation of likely 2 of Fox/Randall and Woods we should be very capable...and it also hinges on how we deploy and how we scheme.

I have zero faith in Schmeckle....Kornelson as quality contributors, and if Bennet shows no progression...u can add him to the mix  as well as capable Canadian rotation depth.....So the draft is key, and hopefully the re-signing of Kongbo to remove one of them right out of the equation...I have had to accept the fact Thomas will be rostered unless he gets hurt as thats just what Osh does....even if not the best option, so for hopefully 10 or less snaps a game he can have guys funneled into his big gut by others much like the last 2 yrs , and his vet knowledge will make him place hold while someone takes a breather..

Db's I think this yr will actually be better than last to be honest...and possibly with a bit of switch in philosophy make it even stronger yet....I curious who slots at SAM as technically we don't need to be Canadian there, so for most part at LB hard to say what we look like until camp and see whats left in Biggies tank...I am confident in Wilson.....Kramdi was adequate at best, but that doesnt do it for me....We need a playmaker/difference maker there....he is not that...and he isn't at this stage in his career morph into that unless he goes on a serious PED experiment

Draft is huge this yr...especially with the picks we have...we can't pooch it....and good chance we may make a trade and acquire a piece if we are able to secure our 2 targets we want

I actually think you're wrong here... the problem with Jackson wasn't his contributions as a fullback... it's that he was taking up a DI spot on a position that easily could've been filled by a Canadian rookie... if his passport was different (even Global), I don't think anyone would've had a problem with him

he was average at best in that role, and if u watch film/tape/tv...he biffed a lot of assignments...and was a total non factor on ST's...Osh loved the guy for what he was...key word was, and not for his football ability....and it influenced his roster decision...plain and simple...

Don't know if this has already been mentioned or not, but on "The Huddle" podcast DT said that over the last 3 seasons in the 10 games that Jeffcoat missed that Willie played in, he registered 0 sacks.  He also added Haba had 0 sacks in games Jeffcoat did not play.

If they can't replace Jeffcoats pass-rush straight up, they're going to have to rely on blitzing combos a whole lot more than anyone wants to see.

thats just also ore than solidifies the fact that Haba should have been in all yr instead of the Seal, ...all 3 together got it done...much like yrs previous when we had 3 solid DE's rotating with a 4th guy who was more than adequate

Nothing like dancing on a guy’s  grave on his way out with some cheap pot shots and character assassination of a serviceman. Sometimes I agree that Lyin’ Guy wasn’t far off with his “bunch of assholes” comment. Not upset about the cut from a roster point, but the man came in and did whatever was asked of him and did it competently enough, whatever the assessment of the skill of the position or the utility of the roster spot. And he served his country in the military in an elite service branch that makes him deserving at least of thanks and respect instead of mimicry, and makes him as tough if not tougher IMO than any poster on this site, whether they be ex-football player, gym rat, or keyboard comedian wanting to see circus acts or having a laugh at his expense.

u going way off the rails here bud...nobody is dissin' his service....as to which is totally unrelated or relevant to his football foray......so you can get off the soap box there

He was tho above and beyond that a totally waste of a roster spot, and served no purpose any other payer could have in his role save for a punter or kicker and a lighter receiver/db...or someone built like Holm Boy....
