Maybe I'm missing the tone of this post but to the first bolded point... how do you know that?... I'm not saying Wilson is the next CFL superstar... but at this point, we have no idea what he is... could, at the very least, be an upgrade from Streveler...

Second bolded... we all hope for that every game... it just seems to happen less and less these days...

Consider that Brown's first yr...even 2 more times than not looked lost...panicked and not really a viable option...yr 3 is when he actually looked like he had something....

  2. Defense is Youngers (DC's) design, that being said...The HC has play sheet for both offence and defense and will more times than not also call plays "he" wants based on situation...down/distance...field position...etc....also what player packages he wants....Obviously the last yr all the above have not been on the same page/mindset

OC guy actually doesn't even have a page...dude is useless and in over his head and Osh will do nothing about it because it will just confirm he screwed up....and he never accepts responsibility for messing up....always has an excuse

so we stuck with it thru the yr sadly...

Sentence structure is helpful to be able to function in society at a basic level. So is learning math. For that matter, so is learning punctuation. As well, if its lacking people may make assumptions about one's intellect, although sometimes one's comments reveal a lot about that.

Actually....I do have to use math in Engineering....and I hate math...go figure

I used to believe that but I haven't seen anything recently that gives me that confidence.

Unlike MOS thinking he still has 2019 Strevy, I don't believe we have the 2019 Trinity.

They got fat and sassy and lost their edge

Sorry Goalie, I disagree with this. The DL has been ineffective this year. The DBs had some weak links and are being corrected. There is no pressure - even nominal from the DL. You cannot win when the QB regularly gets 5 steamboats, every down, every game.

But the D has not been as much of an issue as the O. Look at our second half points - and look at our number of turnovers.

We need something to change - demote Hogan and give Jackson a chance. Make some changes on both sides of the ball, when able - Jake Thomas, a loyal, hard working guy does not have the stones now - he just doesn't. Vaughters and Willie are no longer every down players - good for 50%. Many of the players we brought in as free agents have not worked out, and we have had a rash of injuries - and our QB play has diminished behind an OL that is no longer effective.

You cant fix this in a day...but make a few changes and try it out - why are we still running with Ayers at DL? Why are we still forcing Canadian depth into starting positions - when we have not even given our other Canadian depth an opportunity to see how they do (even at 20% reps a game).

We love what the mafia has done here - we want them to succeed - but they can't be stubborn and hold fast to what is NOT working - we just want them to show some sort of flexibility.

    Agreed

with lack of pressure.....no rushed passes...no disruption of the QB....all time to throw...DB's will look bad....just way it is

And a couple simple changes...who know's the results but you need to try....because why do you have guys hanging around then?....but continuing to do the same thing...thats been failing...who keeps doing that?

And really....can it be any worse???

I'd rather make it in the west and got into calgary and Regina and beat those assholes when it matters.

would love that as well...but man we gotta be realistic...as we are now...and obviously no intent to bring anyone in....that's not happening

and definitely not too late....what we have...4...5 games left when Maston and Taylor stepped in and turned our season on defence?

DT's and ends....bull dozing rb....easiest guys to integrate with minimal practice/time in the CFL....X receiver too

With how crappy the O is, those random deep shots are needed.

time for ground and pound offence....slide protection....moving line...pulling giiards and Tackles...we were doing that a bit in the beginning...when we actually had a winning record....but went away from it........Bring in another big import bruising back to run with BO who can catch....and pound the ball and take short to intermediate shots when defense creeps.....the deep shot here and there will be there when we set the tone

Like running the veer or triple option..thats how you utilize an inferior oline in protection to be succesful...you need an athletic center tho who can move, so Hello Eli...see ya Kolo....he wouldnt be worth snot in that scheme...Eli would tho...be right up Wallace's alley right now, as well as Randolph

Arbuckle has a calf strain, so Doege will start for the Argos this week against Als.

Dinwiddie's ability to roll with a backup QB  gets another test this week.

thats a good thing...we need T.O to lose and desperately need to beat Ottawa to keep a few games between us and them as we are likely gonna have to cross over.....and that prob our best route for any success in post season as we aont winning 2 on the road in the west unless both teams ahead of us lose their starting Q.B and maybe some other key piece...and even then, I cant see success attainable

Maybe we become the first crosover team to make it in history...into our own barn too....that be a good story after all this crappola

Fair enough. I just think that bringing back your marquee receiver when medically cleared is kind of a really odd thing to criticize.

Walters and our AGMs/scouts did a terrible job of evaluating FA talent for sure.

You always say this....but you dont know that..You just assume Osh is this god at talent evaluation...and he isnt.....and has shown that yr over yr....You say nobody is better, but thats just your opinion too....where's the proof?...cause Dear Leader who has failed us 3 straight yrs hasnt gave them a shot?...You quick to throw all the blame on Walter's yet continue to give Osh a pass....

And again...other than CIS scouting Walter's does zippo with boots on the ground...none....

And in your other post...saying the likes of Woods..Adams and even Pointer who we cut...wouldnt offer us more than Schmeck..Thomas...Korn....then I guess you are "out to lunch"...your words not mine

And T.Jones is better than J.Jones?...where's that proof?

Before J.Jones got hurt...and T.O flipped ratio he was damn good...actually run stopper...guy who could get home on blitz and get sacks...3 yrs younger....better ST player...faster....better pro day numbers

And if a coach realizes he's using sub par talent...yet refuses to ask for an influx....or try a PR guy or guy they hiding on the 1 game...how is that the fault of the G.M?

We have a world of problems in several areas...dissconnect....a failing/failed process....stagnation....not the preferred destination anymore...likely from the latter....and the guy basically running the team and the day to day process, makes his roster...and is in charge of coaching....ain't gettin er done....and you have a hard time accepting it

I used to praise Osh...when it was warranted....it's not so much now...so praise he won't get now unless he does something to re-earn it

Toronto, Hamilton, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, and Saskatchewan all signing players in the last couple of days trying to get better, BC brought in a few new bodies last week as well. Winnipeg is all status quo! 3-7 in our last 10 games and hosting the grey cup and zero sense of urgency to try something different when things aren’t working. At this point we’re a threat to not even make the playoffs in any capacity.

so obviously the "coach" see's no need...nobody else can shoulder that....christ he wont even use the guys that been here all yr...some for 2....like he's gonna insert a totally new body

Osh as GM is a scary thought. What a disaster that would be. We'll be back in the dark 2013-15 era fast... dark times. But now that you said it, it is a considration I never thought would happen. Now, I can be prepared (shiver) if that happens.

Osh as a G.M would be a colossal failure on soooo many levels

    1 hour ago, ShyGuy said:

I'd be worried if you get rid of Walters and not O'Shea, the only people who would be interested in the GM position would mean that O'Shea should be the defacto GM (if he doesn't get named that anyways). It seems like a lot of times, a GM gets brought in and he will want to do his hiring, and if you don't also get a new Coach you end up with a weird lame-duck period waiting for the incumbent coach to get fired and replaced.

    history shows...in all sports....a Coach will go before a G.M 9 times outta 10

Unless the G.M shows total incompetence on several levels....Walter's hasnt shown that at all

Osh writes his depth chart in pen before camp even opens. The lack of competition is at a point where it's hurting the team badly now that the superstars are aging fast.

with the off-season signings....and the lack there of too

Nobody can admit that Thomas...Kolo...Wilson...T.Jones...were not cemented in as the day 1 starter....regardless what occurred in camp

anyone saying otherwise and that if pushed by a newcomer...or rookie that Osh would have made the swap is just full of crap....we all knew...many of us said it....christ a couple were day 1 starters with barely any work in camp

It's pretty noticeable how inactive we are compared to other teams in this aspect, if you look at the CFL transaction page or the social media account that tracks neg list changes.  The Bombers show up there way less than other teams so it gives the impression we are satisfied with who they have (or who they want to have, in the case of the neg list players).

we good....thats why...well in the minds that are in control of this

No no no, ticats D was a tire fire. Slight difference

actually....we recognized they were caught in player changing and ran a quick play before they were really set ...let alone realized where Wheatfall was.....was that a Miller call....or did Strev and Wheatfall adlib?....If I recall Wheatfall was out wide calling for pass as he saw the ticat guys racing to get set up

@DTonOB maybe you can find that out for us

Is not having viable options on Osh or Walters? I would say more on Walters and the scouting staff.

HC relays to scouting team what he wants....and what he likes...they go and "try" to find that

Then it's up to HC to assess and build the best lineup with what he was given...and key word....asked for.

HC also keeps and cuts the players....not the G.M and he seems to like to keep less then the best guys based on his metrics in what he thinks is the best.

He in my opinion values some things way more than he should in some cases and it's not a natter of talent that wins the decision in his mind...it's been quite apparent really

He also doesnt really give the backups any real work during the season to get acclimated to the pro game...develop...and or show they just may not have it...and move on and bring new blood in during the season....and then when season gets to the dawg days...he just walks out injured guy after injured guy because our back-ups...or guys we carried on the PR (guys who are there just for that...injury replacement/underperforming guys/development) have zero experience...they have zero belief in them....even tho he says they all #1's and are in building because if they have to step in give us a chance to win......and well...here we are...3 cup losses in a row due to poor roster and poor coaching....under .500....and have arguably the worst depth in the league

Fact of matter the G.M hasnt been G.M'ing like he should have been....why...who knows...is Osh given too much say?...who knows...may appear as so...Buddy buddy relationship too isn't ideal....Maybe he doesn't have it in him to get on his H.C.....Or maybe he knows that he not coming back next yr and really doesn't give a hoot....so no urgency?....who knows....But changes need to be made regardless

Curious that this offseason the same thought process went though two teams at the opposite ends of the western conference

The elks with Gino Lewis  (Ed Hervey with his there are no superstars in cfl, no reciever is worth that), and us with the decision to go cheaper and utilize that cap space to strengthen elsewhere. In our case it blew up in a lot of ways, turns out Lawler is proving hes worth it and the free agent moves we did of a bunch of midlevel players had 0 impact.

Had we utilized that cap space for an impact player on d, or even to retain  Dobson or Ford - but hindsight is 50/50 as is the fact that OShea/Walters failed badly and its showing in results

where did we utilize any cap space to strengthen an area?...we spent nothing really on anything new, and where we did grab a possible differene maker...he cant get on the roster as he behind a couple of Osh's Boi's

I don't disagree that playing him was risky. However, he had a pretty decent stat line in that game and made some real clutch plays. Until the OT throw he was playing very well. Unfortunate he got hurt because it was one of his best games of the season and certainly miles better than anything Dillon Mitchell has done all year. He certainly didn't hamper, and only enhanced our ability to compete that game.  As a general rule I don't like rolling out guys that are injured, but we certainly don't know how he looked in practice, and that would have been a huge factor in the decision. Hindsight is 20/20. If he wasn't good enough to go I have every faith that Couture would have shut him down. If he didn't look ready to go I don't think MOS would have played him and he certainly looked good that entire game. It is unfortunate he reinjured himself but that was the direction the player chose to take, and he looked ready to perform. He wasn't gimpy by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah I think we all agree to some extent...with varying points of view

Fact of matter regardless of partial...full...or he grew a third one that was dangling in the way...he was gonna go down for good...or make it worse...and just delayed his comeback date a season essentially ..and well he went down for good the first game they tried it...applaud him for wanting to but the powers that be should have thanked him but said no beueno

And he was kinda gimpy...no explosion...couldn't separate...and had alligator arms...also on the pick that went back to the house...he couldn't cut and come back effectively...and yhe db jumped it...he was playing in a limited capacity

OSH also has a history of playing guys Cleary not good to go...so id give him zero leeway there

Seems fairly obvious that the last 2 seasons they are using Willie far less in the pass rush and taking advantage of his knock down ability and ability to almost become a 4th LB. Garbutt was a scrub and is doing nothing in Hamilton too. The guy has 4 sacks in his career. He was exactly the kind of guy we needed to let walk and upgrade. The problem most certainly isn't letting scrubs like Garbutt and Fox go. The problem is when we let scrubs go we aren't able to even upgrade over that.

Garbutt is hurt...has been for most yr

And I agree...we I think are telling WJ that's his role at times

You can see games..like grey cup..and some this yr if they turn him loose he causes chaos

He needs 2 ...3 running mates to really make him effective...he is far from regression or lost it

A true nose or DT would help all our ends too

Partially torn is a torn ACL and is how it is commonly reported as simply a torn ACL. Did any of them say completely torn? Same thing. What was reported was that he had a torn ACL. Severity of the tear was not reported. What I do know is that you cannot rehab a torn ACL. It's impossible and Schoen was trying to rehab his after consulting with Couture about his options. Torn ACL has no options, it's surgery. So while I have nothing saying it was partially torn, you guys cannot point me to one single shred of evidence saying completely torn. Therefore, I will assume partially torn which you can rehab, and that our 23 year lead athletic therapist and one of the most respected athletic therapists in Canada knew his ****. You guys are literally accusing him of malpractice.

would they not have said partially torn then? If it was partial...

And he would have consulted with the physician first....not the AT....

You can sure....rehab a partially torn one minimally....and with success as a non-athlete....but without surgery the risk to fully tearing  a given playing sports....joe schmoe on the street can live with it....rest...therapy and drugs can help....but dont fix

also.....thing to consider...the recovery time for a partial tear is similar to that of a complete tear for both surgical and non surgical options....so there is that too, and no way shape or form did he accumulate 10 to 12 months of rehab on the 6 game (generally the timeframe to get back on field....not necessarily back to where you were) ....and why I say either way....there was no way any "rehab" was beneficial enough to allow him to play and was just postponing the inevitable....surgery and 12 months of rehab...and was stupid....not well thought out and pointless...as we saw

where is the literature regarding our therapist as most respected in Canada....curious....not saying he's not good...as he is and I have worked with him so know all about him...but I have never heard that said anywhere but here
