Just a note, lofton hasn’t figured in this last year. Randolph was the rt starter. Between rando and vanterpool I’m pretty happy with our imp ol talent. Gotta dig up new guys every year, and I think we need to be starting 3 imps minimum
Randolph is a perennial All-star in the making...prob already there
21 hours ago, johnzo said:Not sure why people are eager to move on from Neuf. Wouldn't be easy to replace at the same skill level, passport, experience, and durability -- he started all 18 games last year. Of course, he's at the age where he might decide for us, or where he might suddenly break down. It astonishes me that guards can play into their late thirties. Is guard the most physically punishing position on the field?
Jefferson is too expensive for the one or two games he wrecks every season. Or maybe he could still be consistently dominant if got spelled off once in awhile? I dunno.
Saw Cadwallader make good plays on teams all year, so would like to see him stay.
We seem to be able to dig up great DBs every year so I don't know how critical it is to retain / give raises to any of our DBs.
Nothing wrong with Neuf's play, and he is a solid vet as he can play multiple roles
Jefferson I think needs to realize that he not top dollar money now....or has to show he is and needs to come back on a more team friendly deal....I not opposed to him back and in no way think he u=is in physical decline whatsoever...used right...and in the right role with the right support cast...this is the key part would be very valuable
59 minutes ago, wbbfan said:I think mos in torontos targets would include kramdi, gauthier, hallett, cody, strev and maybe a vet or two we’d cut. I don’t think he’d go full hamilton on our cuts.
I’d send him a very nice thank you note at the very least
net positive...cause if Osh goes he may take lot of our garbage off our hands
22 minutes ago, Pete said:Maybe Bryant and or Jefferson, Lawson and Olivera.
I dont see any of those guys wanting to follow Osh...From what I know...much to the foot stomping of @GCn20 who thinks this info comes from someone at Snap Fitness....those 3 are a big part of some the core who were not happy with things and how they evolved...Expunging Osh likely a factor in all 3 staying...not leaving

Nope, my name's not Booch. It was discussed on Winnipeg Sports Talk by Andrew Paterson a couple weeks ago or so. He qualified it as something that he never heard directly from anyone in the organization but was making it's rounds amongst the media. Apparently he showed up to camp out of shape, and then wasn't happy about his playing time and let everyone know about it. Don't have a date or a time, but it's on one of their podcasts if you care to dig deeper.
sorry that you cant grasp I have player relations outside the norm and you just act like a petulant child about it...and going off some "media" sound bite or speculation...is prob the lamest way to interpret "inside" the room or player thoughts...but just be you....Yiu the man and are never wrong....
20 hours ago, Slimy Sculpin said:I think that you've got it wrong. In most pro sports organizations, the GM hires and fires the HC not the other way around. And most GMs have at least "two kicks at the can" (i.e., They get to hire two HCs before their neck is on the line.) IMO, it'll be O'Shea who will be gone, whether he's hired by the Argos or fired by Walters. Of course, Miller (with input for the BOD?) could fire both of them.
correct....No G.M worth a used jock will want to walk into a organization where he is forced a staff upon him...85 to 95% of time a G.M is etained and a HC change occurs...less upheaval organization wise and easiest to correct....if the following yr same issues occur...then he is gone...If both arent canned it is usually always the HC...and or Co-Ords first...well in well ran organizations...and we can all agree we have become the benchmark in well ran....up until recent, but is it a HC issue...or overall?...the smart money says it's HC
18 hours ago, SpeedFlex27 said:Fire means the Bombers owe him something. They'll just let his contract expire.
and this is the time to move....if we re-up and he still coaches like a stubborn brain dead guy looking at 2019...then we just handcuff ourselves further into the wandering in the drakness on the hook for his salary and killing our coaching cap

Kyle walters didn't put collaros out Ina grey cup game when he couldn't even grip a ball.... these are oshea roster issues that are independent of the gm. It's stuff like that which has garnered the target on O'Shea's back.
you have to remember...GCn20 is either Osh's mom...Wife...whoever....but he will fall on the knife of Osh is da bomb and it;s everything and everyone elses fault...even tho Osh picks the roster...chooses who dresses and gets major reps, and refuses to use beneficial rules...chooses to play injured guys....uses excessive Canadians when not needed, and when they not better than an import...
18 hours ago, JuranBoldenRules said:You can't really separate O'Shea and Walters if you're trying to play the blame game.
well kinda...Walters has no say or input on the game day roster...plan....etc...basically anything really once camp breaks....and that's what you want....A meddling G.M is a disfunctional organization...That being said tho...should he have maybe had a few "discussions"?? hell ya, because Osh has basically driven the team right into the dirt

So what's Alexander doing all this week to prepare? Is it just living in the ice bath? There's nothing they can do in terms of medications right? It's not like you can shoot a guy up with all kinds of drugs (a la Dunigan in 1991)...
Shoot up with BPC 157...TB 500...only a week but if just a minor lil twinge could make all the difference
Guys use this alot pre/post surgery and for a lot of muscle/lig strains..pulls etc
Id be all over that if I was on Als staff...but im not 😆

I would like Oshea to return and would even be ok with him receiving gm duties with Brock doing all actually GM stuff save for making the final decisions on players. This would free up operations cap space to hire LaPolice as OC. Talk of moving on from O’Shea is crazy to me. Yes his roster management is annoying but we won’t a lot of games over the past several seasons with his linebacker heavy lineups. Be carefull what some of you wish for.
Osh as a g.m woukd drag us back to the depths of reinbold...Mack...hell to the no

Stay...or go...we be fine...and there are a lot of good younger up and comers in the league...joe fan tho isnt acutely aware of tho
What was Osh when we signed him..a name as a player...as a couch.. pretty much zero experience...was given a st coordinator role but had zero positional coaching experience or any other for that matter...most will agree that turned out well...started bad..almost ended before the good occurred.. and is reverting to bad..stale..redundant...and that's what happens...especially after 12 seasons..and easily predictable...Ossh showed he was stubborn...bordered on arrogant and at times oblivious to the team...
He valued some things over talent...but unlike Ritchie who had a similar trait..albeit more vet over whatever it was Osh sees but Coach Ritchie also valued talent...and had the x and o acumen to facilitate things...Osh lacks that and history shows us without top notch coordinator around him..hes a bit of a dud with his bad traits compound it
Miller is a smart guy and knows what kind of guy to hire..Inhave no worries..If Osh wants to poach a coach have at er..some need to go..the ones that need to stay...they will stay..u can bet on it...we don't need a house clean..Just a few key spots need to be expunged...
I heard a few interesting things the other day...if i able to substantiate it I will share
1 hour ago, wbbfan said:You have a good point, but veteran and great leader don’t go hand in hand.
Big stan for instance, is known to be a pretty quiet guy. Yoshi was the primary leader of the team, offence, and ol. He was a massive culture setter. Sheed as well. Other guys like hansen, kongbo, biggie, and ba were the leaders on and off field.
The fact we’ve seen zach soo frustrated with play call, time to relay plays in, wrs, etc as soon as the leaders left says zach is a stoic on field leader type and easy going guy off. but that balance depends on guys who will hold other accountable.
Tldr, it takes multiple leaders of various types to make teams work together well. We have guys, but not the right ones in the right places imo.
Yeah in several instances we kept the wrong vets...and valued others where that should have went to some who walked

But, I am cheering for the kid tonight and hopefully next week.

Yeah I read up on him a bit and seems like an interesting guy... there's a lot of interesting candidates but my biggest concern would be if any are a significant upgrade... the one guy I would've wanted is off the table now
2 hours ago, Pete said:What did Jackson contribute this year to make him desirable as OC? There wasn't a single group on offence that didn't look disjointed. Nor has any player that I|ve seen commented that hes a good coach. an interesting combo Justin Dunk might be Kyle Carson as GM and Mark Meuller as hc
1 hour ago, Atomic said:Change is probably needed but let's not kid ourselves that things can't get worse. All it takes is one bad hire to send us back to 4-14 land for half a decade.
1 hour ago, wbbfan said:By that logic, Maas should never have gotten the job in montreal after his so so offences in ssk. Mos’ teams in toronto were maybe slightly better than average as well.
That’s also not how position coaching works. We saw him have a league best offence in edm before ford was pressured in to play. Hes more of a known and highly respected commodity than any position coach here save for Costello, and is the the most proven offensive Co on our team.
Also, Hogan was the rb coach on the best running team and heavily refereed by brady. And we know how that turned out.
Jackson is exceptionally proficient at running balanced offenses that get the ball out quick. He also took a league worst team and free spot on the bingo card and nearly made the play offs as a hc.
Interesting? I mean maybe… Good? lol no. Mueller is in his 2nd ever season as an oc. Of those two years he’s had one very good offence. Hes never been a hc or assistant hc at any level. Hes not as ready to be a hc as jy is, and jy isn’t ready for that.
The riders have built through free agency and rookie imps. I would not go off rushing to poach their canadian draft guy.I don’t think we could back slide that far and stay down that long. In the pre wade era of this team and league sure. Today? I don’t think so.
I actually think the worst case for us is setting into mediocrity. 8-10 win perennially fighting for a cross over, lucky to win a round.
The history of bad hire's was a rsult of how we were structured before...With Miller and Walter's (if retained) we not in a spot to worry thee
Osh too much of a loyallist and can't find it in himself with ego to admit failure....so I am sure Jackson prob didnt have much say...that being said good thing he was here or it likely woud have been wayyyyyyyy worse...if thats even possible
Some guys need seasoning and time....Maas as example....Younger...Buck....Some guys just dont have it...OC Guy...and he is smug and arrogant already which is a bad sign considering he has zero reason to be...Too much time under Osh rubberd off?...who knows
There are some good options out there....but also time is of the essence or we will be shut out...again...No reason we couldnt have made a move...Gave Dinwiddie a HC/Ass G.M role here

All jokes aside...if we want to give new blood a chance...like we did with Osh...he'd be a good choice
Also has a better resume than Osh did..was a HC in university in Canada...as well as varied pro coaching positions...and respected and liked by players...and is known

I wish the club was proactive and we knew who would be running the show next year.
we really should have made a statement the week following the playoff exit...id we dont make it the week following the Cup....We can expect more the same.....missing out on some quality coaching prospects....some for sure player exodus...the ones we dont wanna see exit...and a sad vet laden lineup with aged out guys...Osh fav's and loyalists and a team with minimal depth, and no desire to integrst new blood in...unless forced to with injury...hate to be a debbie downer but you can almost book it
I will gladly eat crow....pile of used sweatsocks...whatever....but until proven otherwise....Can't see it...and havnt been far off the mark on the prediction i started drumming after the 2023 joke of a Grey Cup and season end

That's pretty much what most people here are saying. If MOS is not willing/able to make those much needed decisions, then like it or not, we need to part ways. If he can do that though, he should be brought back ang given an opportunity to right the ship. But I would be having that conversation before any extension is given.
and smart organizations....dont make shifts when everything is already in the dumpster and may take yrs to get out of
This has been a 3...now 4 yr degredation and no deviating really from the root cause, or the common issues/concerns that have led to the quick decline....If the band-aid needs to be ripped off and allow the heaing to happen then some of it needs to be done now....and similar issues or decline next...then G.M is next in cross hairs
Players arent happy....some....the ones who know they safe due to recent history will chime in they want the band all back together...When your hometown star...bell cow RB nad face o team is saying show me you serious here or I am outta here...thats a huge red flag...And be clear....he's not the only one feeling this....just the one who was out front and frank about it...if you were watching and listening since last cup loss, and this yr...others have alluded to it...without pout right saying it
5 cup appearances...with the 2 wins eons ago now in the sports world but a constant slide in the wrong direction....and stubborn stupidity/blindness to it....but a lot of excuses....well the good will has long dried up
7 minutes ago, Goalie said:Oh I agree. I’d give Osh the extension based on willingness to change and move on from some players and maybe coaches.
saying...and actually doing tho...2 different things.....and history shows us he set in his ideal and ways...and why risk it with an extension only to maybe have to can him a yr into it and be on the hook for his salary...further delaying and hindering any quick turn around....just not worth the risk...I can see your point...But he has had ...2...3 yrs to turn it around....instead he has almost drove it into the dirt

Wade has to make a decision in a short period of time on what to do (if he hasn't already), hesitation is one of those decisions and maybe the worst one. I think Toronto will move fast, and I think the Cats will as well once their season is over.
We can't drag our feet...that's part of the reason we had to settle with Hogan...also why we ended up missing on some FA's
2 hours ago, Slimy Sculpin said:I'm assuming that Miller is responsible to the volunteer Board of Directors. Would he have to get their permission on major matters like this?
I think when Wade took over things shifted a bit in regards to the BOD
He essentially has say over the football ops. He may run things by to get a feel or let em know..but football related stuff is his domain...the way it was before was why we were in the state we were
59 minutes ago, wbbfan said:In terms of football ops I would expect him to have full control to the point he would likely update them on his intentions not have to ask for permission.
An act as president that was veto’d by the bog would be like failing a none confidence vote.Agree with the first bit.
I didn’t read the article i’ll have to check it out. I’ll say though that it’s on pinball to make the primary changes.
Mos would be involved, but i’m not sure he would face much more change there than we need. Hed keep his buddies on the staff like eiben, try to poach a couple of our guys and others, and re tool via free agency.
It’s soo wild to me that his idea of accountability for our offences systematic failures is that he should have stepped in and micro managed them to ensure they performed better. If i head that as Jackson, i’d quit instantly.
Yeah..he has too much say...and no real feel on the pulse...and things coming out and rumblings I hear is his way on going about things in some instances doesn't sit as well as before...and interestingly enough more so with some vets

IF.....Osh left, which I think is not likely, but hypothetically, JY as HC with Bowman as DC, Hall still advising defence asst. coaching, and Lapo as OC.....deep experience in Lapo and Hall up and comers in JY and Bowman.....possibly even AH as Rb and offensive asst. to work with Lapo again provided young new blood, and a connection to the young guys......other assistants stay.....Walters stays, and puts key focus on the lines.....
Ok flame away..if you wish.....
That would work with me in all honesty....nothing wrong at all in that scenario
6 minutes ago, Brandon said:So what if they keep Hogan + O'Shea? Do we write off next season or give them at least one more chance?
Osh has had 4 chances since 2021....and his decision in Hogan was the cherry on top of the shitsundae on how he goes about things...Players...coaches....
If we run it back as is.....we know a good majority of the less than stellar giys will be back....positions given...not earned....no deviation from anything if not working or optimal....insistence no to use all the rules afforded to us.....so yeah peob a write-off...casue in all honesty, why would we expect anything different??
Factor in other teams working to be better....Hi there 5th place

Yeah, Montreal is stacked like we were in 19/21 for front office and staff candidates. I don't see Macioca going up to president and giving up the GM role either.
And agree, I want no part of Thorpe.
Ontario is really going to dictate our off-season imo. Depending on who takes what jobs.
Mos and JY have serious ties to TO. I feel like Mos will be a top target for them. I think Thorpe and Chris Jones (shudder), will about round out who they look at.
Then Hamilton has the GM opening from Ted. I think they will go after Walters, and Danny Mac I bet, will be deep in the fray again.
Then ottawa will be settling its coaching staff under dinwiddie. I could see them targeting Jackson, Costello, and maybe even offering an AST HC title to JY.
I also think we will likely be the last once again to have our positions in the front office settled.
yup....some dominoes are gonna have to fall first...and any excessive feet dragging by us like before and we could be wandering the wilderness a bit
Do we strike first and set the table and move on from Osh...Promote up JY now and then work from there?....Be a real kick to the nads to pussyfoot this...and have almost everyone defect...and with that...prob a lot of players as they see a sinking ship for a few yrs
Will be interesting close to November for sure

Permission to talk: Is O'Shea leaving?

and I would have hoped so coming off a knee rebuild and likely not to be ready for season....and then we pushed his return when it was obvious he wasnt ready...then he got rehurt and we continued to play him...and well we all seen how that panned out...possible ended his career...best case scenario is he maybe ready for end of 2026 seaso, but even then the smart move is to sit it all out and come backk for 2027...We may have seen last of Schoen here
and yes we agree on this...We could have...we chose not to, or allocated dumb money to dumb incumbamts and priced ourselves out...That is one of Walter's blunders in this debacle of a season
