I loved dressler. As a rider I liked him as much as I could any rider player especially one who used to kill us. He was like buck pierce at wr but with a stronger surrounding cast. From a league stand point he should go in as a rider. If he chose us, I’d be thrilled he was a great player and great person.

Me too. I’ve always hated the Riders but always respected who Weston was as a player and as a person. A real heart and soul guy. I know he wasn’t completely in his prime here in Winnipeg but he still had some productive years here and helped change our culture around to the winning culture it is today.

  2. Jake Thomas was a solid rotational player for us for many years, the issue is there’s a difference between a 28 year old Jake Thomas playing on a  heavy rotational DL line up in 2019 and a 32 year old Jake Thomas starting almost every game for us. With Cam Lawsons injury I’m hoping that doesn’t mean status quo this year I would still go with an all American DL and If that means Jake Thomas rotates in, that’s something I could live with, but I would be extremely disappointed if he plays as often as he did in 2023..

Yeah, you’re right. If I wanted to do it bad enough, I would. I don’t want to do it bad enough. I want the media to do their job.

Are we even having this discussion? Like what stupid point are you even trying to make here?

It’s not a stupid point LOL anyone who posts here is obviously a big fan, but a big fan who can’t even support their team during training camp like what? You said you were interested in camp battles? Okay then go check them out tor yourself? Why is it a foreign concept to actually go support your team in person if you cared enough too instead of bitching and complaining about the media.

Ok cool can you pay me my lost wages for the day so I can go do the media’s job for them?

The media coverage is pathetic I didn’t deny that but you said you were curious about training camp battles? Get your butt out there on a day when you’re not working and see for yourself. It’s not a difficult concept, you’re a fan, you don’t work seven days a week, go see for yourself.

  5. I know it’s frustrating but to those who are complaining, no one is stoping you from going down to training camp yourself, especially if it’s on a Saturday or Sunday, you can see all the position battles you want, and god forbid even bring that info back to MBB. I get it we live in a era where we want our information spoon fed to us and I get frustrated with the fact that it’s hard to get info but then I remember if I wanted to know bad enough I’d be there myself..

What the hell does that say about their organization.....no credibility  ...So watching him play and if he's on the Als game day roster, you have to wonder if the fix is in...Just a bullShit call by the cflpa.....

How you could have someone around that bet on their OWN games, you just can’t trust someone like that. Tells you exactly what their organization is all about.

Our top 4-5 maybe. Our top 10 falls off QUICK and it’s not even close to the best in the league.

Yeah the thing is good Nat players are worth a premium, unfortunately we have to continue to draft good Canadian players because there’s no way in a salary cap era we’re going to be able to hold on all those guys looking for raises. The double edged sword is having guys who are some of the best players in the CFL regardless of nationality,  like Brady and Demski, they need to be paid, in a perfect world we would still have guys like Desjarlais and Kongbo still on our roster but we can’t pay everyone.

Hill looks like a really smooth. elusive type of receiver.... good hands and quick ..Hi lites are great , but will it translate into anything up here ...??

Good college career. Doesn’t always translate but could be a good one! There’s opportunity for a spot out there this season and hoping we get a competitive mix of good young players try and make a name for them selves.

signing some of our own are huge signings....as other teams were prepared to pay a ransom for them....thats not to be understated..those were technically 2 the top free agaents on the market this yr....can't fault us that they were our own guys

As @Mike said...Strev is a huuuge pick up...and dirt cheap...trust me when you see him this spring you will be amazed at his transformation....and he is huge for locker room continuity and keeping the culture chugging.

As much as many liked Brown....he wasn't our future....and Strev this yr is gonna offer a ton...way more than Brown would have

and yup...another huge thing is Ford back...and expect him extended at some point....he offers a ton of value and ability for us to do some different things

if any other team had signed BO...Schoen and Strev for 580k...TOTAL...We would have all said they killed it in free agency....so obviouslywe must have....no?

Agreed one hundred percent. Any time you sign the two players in free agency ( arguably two of the best players in the league period) and an established NFL vet, people would be saying you won free agency, but because all three are former Bombers the perception is a little different.

It’s what I was begging for and it didn’t come at the cost of Schoen, Brady or some of the other names I feared it might so I am happy.

Yeah you can’t really replace a Schoen or Brady they’re amongst the best at their positions, but you can replace a Winston Rose or a Rasheed Bailey, good players but on the wrong side of 30.

I look forward to the morphed line up this yr....needed new hungry blood....and some youth...clipped a lot of 30 somethings from the roster...

Agreed. We needed some people actually fighting for jobs and not just players pencilled into starting roles, healthy competition is good for a team. I’m wondering as well if Winnipeg was getting a reputation of a place where there wouldn’t be opportunity to earn a spot, if you’re a young prospect you want to go and play not sit on a practise roster for an entire season..

This is quite literally one of the most ridiculous posts I have read in years.   Everyone you say signs with the Riders, they will not get their bang for their buck.   This coming from a fan of a team that is spending $1.34 million dollars on 4 players on offence lol.

And getting Ouellette for $70K less than Oliveira is a pretty good deal for the Riders.

The difference is our guys are worth the price and then some. We got the best quarter back, best running back, best receiver, and arguably best Canadian receiver with those four players.

He might argue differently. Not a bad dollar amount for a guy who isn’t a bellcow. This is one of those “sounds about right” deals to me.

It would have made him the highest paid RB in the league last year with Stanback. He’s a good runningback but undoubtedly Toronto had the best O-Line in football. That’s a lot of coin for a 29 year old American with one, one thousand yard season (1009 yards)
