Mr. Perfect

Just an FYI for you folks, the CFL roster freeze begins tomorrow, until the expansion draft next Monday the 16th.

Possibly going to Ottawa with his history with Campbell? Jim Toth ‏@JimTothSports43s #CFL announces Tom Higgins is leaving his position as Director of Officiating immediately to pursue a coach or management position.

A little off the board here IMO. I was thinking Lapo was going to get the job, or Marcel.

Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani1m BREAKING: Have learned Rick Campbell will be the inaugural head coach of the Ottawa #RedBlacks. Done deal. To be made official Friday. #CFL

The year that Kavis Reed was our DC our defence was pretty good. So I am curious as to why he would be a no for you? What were you watching in 2010? Cleo Lemon made Kavis Reed look like a fool every time he played us.

If they hire Cortez it pretty much cements Burris as the teams QB. Another reason I want a different HC. Why? Because he's a free agent? Based on that logic (and more logically IMO) it would mean the team goes hard after Drew Willy. He has familiarity with the system, he's a polished passer, and he isn't 39 by kickoff next June. Cause they've got such a history in Calgary and Hamilton and he's the only real veteran option that's going to be a free agent, and because they had such a good offence together in Hamilton... Come on, it's pretty obvious who the guy would pick if he was given the option of actually picking his own qb. Walters won't allow Burris to come here, he isn't stupid.

If we can pair Cortez up with a solid d-cordinator I'm down for giving him the job. He gets a bad rap because of what happened in Hamilton, but the offence was in the top two, and Creehan was the d-cordinator at the time, and we all saw what Creehan did here with the defence.

Gotta love Milt!

Just FYI Winston is already on our neg list I think the kid needs to worry about staying out of jail first before worrying about anything at the professional level.

No they didn't. Not taking anything away from Burke as a DC, but Chris Jones is much better.

And how do you know who was on the Esks' neg list and which players were at Esk's TC? He's just talking out of his ass as usual. Let him make a fool out of himself if he so chooses.

Great hire indeed. Him and Walters will make a great duo.

I have a feeling Simpson won't be back. He was great on the field but he sure has been injured a lot. Honestly, Simpson is easily replaceable. I'd let him walk.

Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani 1m Per Sportsnet's Roger Millions: #Stampeders offensive coordinator Dave Dickenson has been promoted to Associate Head Coach in Calgary. #CFL

Highly unlikely based on what? Baseless speculation? You have ZERO idea what goes on behind closed doors. There are many discussions held internally that fans will never, nor should they know about. This isn't about a right to be critical about the process. This is about the working of professional sports. Welcome to it.

So how is it that an HC and an OC are being hired at the exact same time? Doesn't O'Shea get to hire his coaches? I wasn't there, but my assumption is talk of coordinators came up in the interview process. You'd think people would be thrilled that two guys with NO connection to eachother are going to be working on staff together, but somehow even THAT is ruled as fishy. As I said in the GM thread, but it is certainly applicable here - Unless the team were to get Buono, Marv Levy or Pat Bowlan, or more accurately in this case Dave Dickenson (even though he doesn't want to leave Calgary) Tom Clements or Mike Riley, people will ***** for the sake of bitching.

Pretty much echoing the thoughts here. Best of luck to him in trying, but frankly I think he'd get eaten alive down south.

Very happy for Walters. Well deserved and he will do just fine. ZERO doubt whatsoever.

Like he would admit it. He has before, on more than one occasion.

More than Mike Reilly ever did, and has a way higher ceiling as well. Lol ya right nice try, if this is the case then do you expect a bidding war on him? A war? No, because this off season will be very different than typical ones, but with three new QB positions available Ottawa coming into the league, plus movement likely to occour in at least Montreal, and possibly Hamilton and two others, Willy's agent will undoubtedly have his phone ringing.

Commisioner Braley is probably just upset. Likely wants to try for a Braley Bowl next year in Vancouver and if the argos lose coaches they might not be able to get there. Just call the damn thing the Braley Football League already.
