I don't mind it actually. I think it's a good "FU" to the fans in the city they are playing, and if they don't like it, they can put down some dough and come to the game to boo the Riders. I'm just glad that it's the Riders doing this, and not the Bombers, as it's pretty arrogant. The only thing is that this billboard strategy would probably back-fire in Toronto as the people of Toronto would say "Green is the new Double Blue? The Blue Jays are playing the Oakland A's this week?" I just have a hard time seeing where the payoff is for them.. yeah it's marketing for the other team, but are the Riders really so loaded they're going to do the marketing for other teams now? The cheapskate in me doesn't see the profit in that expense

Rids, how can you say a 3 year veteran is "projected"? The guy has done virtually nothing as a player to this point that he was released. scouting guys always focus on what a player could become, it's part and parcel with the job. That's what makes drafting a crap shoot. Sometimes guys just don't live up to the potential.
-
I don't understand the thought process behind these billboards. Do they think the Rider fans living in those cities need a reminder that the team is coming to town? As a Bomber fan living in Calgary I can assure you the first thing I look at on the schedule is when the Bombers are in Alberta. Do they think they'll convert people? I doubt it. Seems like they're simply pissing away money in an attempt to what? pat themselves on the back? Antagonize another fanbase? How does this investment pay off for them?

and by hipster beer what you really mean is good beer right? Cause all the mass produced pilsners are fizzy yellow water. Can't blame people for demanding more from a beer.

I told you all, Burris plays the great team mate when things are going good but as soon as there is adversity it's everyone elses fault, not his. Guy is a real piece of ****.

but in 2008 with only 8 teams, the best 6 still made the playoffs. with 9 teams and the strongest teams all in the west there is that chance that the best 6 records don't make the playoffs (assuming Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatchewn, BC and Toronto have the best 6 records when it's all said and done).

Chiefs release Weston Dressler(Updated: Now signed by Riders)
17to85 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
if by glorified you mean better than I agree. Matthews is better than Carr is better than Kelly. Dressler though is a guy who can be your #1 receiver and perform game in and game out. One guy is a nice addition to your receiving corps, the other guy you can build around. -
Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers

I think it got legs when people were trying to justify trading him last year. Now they've told themselves the lie so often they believe it. So per Jaquie he went offside 10 times in 12 games as a Bomber last season. You don't consider that a lot? No not really, he also picked up 15 sacks, the yardage is a net win for the Bombers in that scenario. That's in addition to the tackles for losses. And I am sure there's lots of plays where his pressure helped get a defensive stop. A few offside penalties don't bother me when the guy does so many other things well. -

I think Peach has been better than Vega so far this season. Better than a guy who's been either missing games to injury or playing hurt? Not much of a bar you're setting. Bottom line Hall would upgrade the DEs on this team -
Wait until it happens before we start freaking out about it. What happens if the west all collectively beats up on BC and they don't win more than 7 games? Is it THAT much of a stretch to think that 2nd in the east can't get to 7 wins or even 8? The most likely scenario as I see it is that the west is going to be very balanced with everyone winding up within a few games of .500 whereas the Argos should have a winning record against the East as well and get above .500 and probably get 2nd place in the east seperating themselves from the bottom 2 as well.

It's absolutely ridiculous. Quite frankly as a CFL fan who knows enough about the entire league it's insulting to me that they feel the need to treat the viewers like drooling morons.

Dressler is the better player AINEC, -

The Riders are as much of a running team as there has been in the CFL in years. If they can't run I don't expect that they'll do a hell of a lot on offense. Now that being said they're pretty good at getting a running game going so it's easier said than done stopping it, but that's really all I'd worry about facing them. -

Will Ottawa win another game this year?
17to85 replied to BomberFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Cause Chevon Walker isn't all that good of a running back. The reason Hamilton moved on from him is that he is yet another all or nothing running back. He'll either make a huge play or be stopped for short gains. -

What did Durant do last time we played the riders that makes anyone worried about facing him? He was terrible. Bombers offense scored more points for the Riders than their own offense did. -
Do Rider fans still think Durant is a better qb than Ricky Ray?
-
I've noticed that too. Maybe it's due to the incompetence of their commentators. I think it's americanization of all their broadcasts. American sports are all about hype hype and more hype and I think TSN is jumping on that bandwagon. I hate it. The sport is good enough to stand on it's own without the artificial hype.
-
But it's also not going to last. Hamilton will get to play Montreal and Ottawa in the last part of the season, you think all those teams are going to stick at 1 win after that? Why would I think that? It's pretty obvious that can't happen (unless there are a statistically improbable amount of ties). Regardless of the amount of wins that are given out based on interdivisional play in the East, we are still likely looking at a double crossover scenario from the West. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest the East (outside of Toronto) can win against the West, and the other teams in the East likely won't be beating Toronto either. I may have mis-counted but there are only 7 guaranteed wins left between Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa. I don't want to start making charts about what the odds are for teams ending with a certain record, but it is definitely possible that the last place team in the West has a better record than the 2nd place team in the East. oh sure it's possible, but come on, the west teams are going to start beating up on each other pretty soon as well. Calgary and Edmonton have a back to back coming, that's either 2 losses for one of them or one loss a piece, Bombers and Sask same deal. Either one team is picking up 2 more losses or it's one a piece and some team is that much closer to a .500 record. It's a screwy schedule with basically everything to be decided still.

TSN in general has this real bad habit of deciding the script for the game in advance and sticking to it come hell or high water. I have no idea why they feel they need to do that rather than letting the game unfold as it will and letting the on air "talent" talk about the game rather than their prepared game story.

So I think we know who the better RB is now
17to85 replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Ford is too similar to Grigsby for my liking. He's an all or nothing type back. Dunno that the run game would be any better with him around. -
I am curious why there was no flag on the play Glenn got hurt on. He was clearly sliding and two guys went and landed on him, Do they only protect the "star" qbs or what? Ultimately I think BC screwed themselves in the game when they took a roughing penalty on 2nd down and followed it up with a shanked punt out of bounds. Would have been punting from mid field and probably pinning the riders deep, instead the penalties pushed the Riders up to near midfield and totally flipped the field around.

All Suitor knows how to do when broadcasting is suck off one player all game long. It's annoying.
