But it's the exact same problem, if you go looking for it you can find pass interference on a majority of plays in the CFL. A lot of them don't get called because they're simply not that bad. The review process still opens it up to that judgement call and it is playing out exactly like many of us predicted it would, it's a joke and just makes things even less clear. Let the refs call it on the field and drop the review process because the review process is doing nothing to make things better. It was implemented as a knee jerk reaction to one bad miss in the playoffs. One mistake begat another mistake.

Reebok can't win because Reebok can't design something that actually looks good. You see what the common thread is there? Reebok goes plain it's ugly, Reebok goes out there it's ugly... Reebok does new jerseys for the CFL they are worse looking than the previous ones, Reebok does new hockey jerseys and they're gross too. Common thread is that Reebok sucks.

And a lot of people would say that Khari's career got shortchanged due to injuries from playing behind our crap Oline. This Willy kid is the real deal. Hopefully our Oline gets a massive upgrade by the start of next year so Willy's career doesn't go the way of Khari's. There is no question about that. His shoulder got ****** from the hits he took.

I think he's better too, but Hall at least got some starts last year and went through training camp with the Bombers. Did Elliott even get to a training camp this year?

Cornish is probably the worst player for our defense to have to face. He's a good combination of fast and powerful and that is going to be trouble.

Tell me something, how old are you? How long have you been a rider fan? I think that would answer a lot of questions.

The logic behind it is pretty straightforward.... passing wins and loses in the CFL, Etch is gambling that his D will stop the run enough times overall to be effective because if you are good against the pass chances are you will win more than lose. There is some logic there, it's worked in other games this year, but the Riders are the team in the CFL that is most committed to running the football. I even said about their earlier losses they could have probably won those games if Chamblin hadn't been an idiot and benched his runningbacks and abandoned the running game that was working for them. It's the worst matchup for an Etchevary defense. Cornish will also likely prove to be a real big challenge for them as well but against everyone else they seem to do fine. Too bad the playoffs in the west likely involve both Calgary and Saskatchewan.

In the CFL I don't think it's about home vs. away teams, it's about reputation. DBs with all star accolades get away with a lot more interference than rookies because refs give name players the benefit of the doubt. Same thing with offensive lines. The ones with a good reputation get more leeway from the refs because of the reputation. It's not a new phenomenon just the way it is. With the Bombers having been such a joke the previous few years it's going to take time to get that reputation with the refs and start having them give us some leeway. -
Just seemed like Willy had pretty good time in the pocket. Only really seemed to see pressure when the riders brought extra guys or the coverage was too tight and he had to hang onto the ball. I think Willy actually got a bit jumpy at times when he saw the blitz and moved around before he needed to because they did a good job picking people up initially. Looked to me like there was some more room for the running game as well. Not huge improvements but they seemed noticeable and progress is the most important part.

Argos Release Johnson, Sinkfield and Dwight Anderson

Braley is probably losing too much money to handle with 2 teams of questionable attendance. Small wonder they keep giving him Grey Cup games to try and re-coup losses. They need to find someone to buy that team because one guy owning two teams is just stupid. I'll never question Braleys commitment to the CFL, he is another guy who has lost a lot of money to keep teams in this league going no matter what else I say about him. -
I do not like the comparison to Ray, they're different qbs. Let's let Willy be his own qb because it looks like it could be quite the legacy of his own if we get him some more support.

I couldn't watch the game, was on the road but I listened to the radio broadcast, sounds to me like the Stamps pretty much exposed the Esks for a defense and not much more. Looks good on em. The stupid ******* barrel rolls every ******* sack is going to put a giant target on that team and I hope they wind up flaming out in the second half of the year.

Gaggerville Is that what they call the Riders locker room?

because the whole point of adding the review process for PI was to get some consistency in what is and isn't called. The fact that one review on a cheap play (Bucknor in Toronto, the one we actually got over turned in Montreal when Denmark had some weak contact on him and I am sure many others) can be over turned but ones like this one or the one the Bombers got away with in Montreal as an example can not be called just makes the whole thing ********. If it's a coin flip and a judgement call in the review process why even bother? Just let the refs on the field do their jobs and end this charade of "improving" pass interference calls.

I really hope that Ray can hang on long enough to pass Calvillo. Would much rather a stand up guy like Ray becomes the all time passing leader than that prick Calvillo.

Messam is not worth all the fuss. That he's found a situation that works well for him (riders offense vs. bombers defense) doesn't mean he's still actually some great runningback. I bet people wouldn't even be talking about him at all if Etchevary even tried to take him out of the game.
-
now stop for a second, go back and read what you wrote there and maybe you'll understand the other side of the argument. In the situation that plays out the blame shifts from O'Shea to the defense! Once you stand up, remove your head from your ass maybe you'll see the big picture. No matter what you call you have to execute it.

This isn't a development move, this is about getting someone with some experience as your backup since your actual backup is on the IR for the season. Surprised he went with Elliott over Hall since Hall more recently had played but you had to think a move like this was coming.

Speed isn't the issue for either player, I don't see the problems everyone else does with Dunn, I think he's just a whipping boy because he's not Ian Wild making tackles all over the field. As for Kuale, he is the quintessential million dollar athlete 10 cent brain player. Got a great set of physical tools, not smart enough to figure out how to be as effective a player as he could be.
-
it's not that, he got their early, the review showed it. Would be a lame call to make at game speed, but when you review it how can you not say that he got there early? It's exactly why the idea behind challenging PI is utter nonsense. It's all still a judgement call on review and that makes reviews impossible to be worth while. In slow motion he got there early? Is that what we want the standard for overturning a non-call to be? I don't think so. I do agree, however, that PI challenges are utter nonsense. He got there early at regular speed too. I have no problems letting it go when the ref is watching live, that's part of the judgement call, but when you review something and you see the infraction occur why isn't it over turned? The fact that the review process is still subject to discretion means it's useless. We have seen wildly different things overturned or not over turned on PI this year. Drop the system now because it's a joke.
-
It's not about size, it's about plugging holes and being better than the guy across from you. Etchevary was still trying to out think the Riders when the Riders took thinking out of the equation and said "Turn around, hand the ball off and run to the hole" Put a guy in the hole and see if he can make the play or not.

I don't understand how you can say a receiver gave up on a ball. That would imply that the ball was catchable and the effort wasn't there. I would disagree. Those three long ball throws were ever so close to being game changers, so I don't mind the aggressive play calls. We were playing to win. Coaches get criticized all the time for doing this and not doing that, so I can understand disagreeing with the play calls, but as I said, saying the effort wasn't there, is just wrong. I agree that the receiver didn't give up on the ball...but this is the 2nd time in 2 games where we were 2nd and 3 at important times in the games, and a long pass which does not have a high probability of being completed was called. At this juncture of this game...it should have been all about ball control and first downs and it wasn't! Would you have rather than handed off to Grigsby and got stuffed after a 1 yard gain? There's nothing wrong with taking a shot downfield. Bottom line whatever play you call you have to execute it.

One team said we're going to play the game simple, we're just going to pound the ball right up the middle. In that situation you don't mess around trying to outsmart anyone, you just line up and beat the guy across from you. Etch though doesn't believe in playing D that doesn't try and confuse people. Confusion only works when the other team isn't trying to just play smash mouth football.
