Rourke has already made over $300,000 USD even being mostly on practice roster.
Converted to Canadian $, that's $400 000. Two thirds of Collaros' annual contract.

Could have easily been 8-2. Especially that laser from Ehlers that hit the post. He has one of the best shots in the game, IMO.

Michael Bishop had a rocket for an arm, absolutely elite. His problem was that he had a 2 cent brain. The guy had all the physical attributes to make an elite QB.
I recall that as well. He was actually quite effective throwing downfield, if you let him roll out and ad lib. But he could not execute the called / scripted plays.

I mean you can go back and forth on maier cs. Faj if you want, but really those are the 5 qbs who took the bulk of the snaps for their teams... if he was healthy Trevor Harris easily outperforms fajardo. So already he's dropping to 5/6. Being a better qb than the likes of Taylor Cornelius doesn't impress overly much.
Which just proves that it's a team game
Even with a healthy Trevor Harris, the Riders probably don't make the playoffs, much less win the GC.

The primary point here is:
You can win with a lesser talent at the QB position. From that POV, the Als didn't make a mistake signing Fajardo
Sure, they could do better at that position - but mission accomplished for 2023

I think MBT is a significantly better passer. He almost threw for 5000 yards his last year in the CFL with the argos.
Fajardo threw for almost 4000 yards this past season. Fair to say that both had a solid receiving crew to throw to. It's not the passing yards with them, it's more the decision making in critical situations.

I feel the team is being emotional but dedicating to him when they could probably attract a better option like MBT. But he did win a Grey Cup as their starting quarterback so its more of a reward for that than it is a wise decision for the team.
MBT? I don't think there's much to choose from - between the two.

Merv Walker was also a CFL official at one time, not sure why he gave that up.
I can easily see why someone would give it up. There is very little consistency in what they are asked to call. And command centre can be downright inexplicable.

Defensive schemes did us in not age.
Is it just me - or does he not seem to have an answer when an opposing O can handle the pressure?

I will always view the last Cup game as a 'we beat ourselves' with poor decisions, and roster wise and 'not up to par' play calling loss...IF we had played up to our potential we would have notched our 13th Cup win....and Faj would still be the same qb. we all know he is
And if the Bombers had ended up winning, he would have still played a decent game. The guy passed for almost 300 yards.

If the NHL ever goes back to the Olympics...
Just imagine a line with Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard.
There's some guy named Crosby too.
Morissey and Nurse puck moving on the back end.

When Jauch came here in 1978, he turned Brock into a pocket passer from a sprint out qb who just saw half the field into a qb who saw everything. It sure helped that we had the best OL in the CFL at the time. Brock had a cannon for an arm with deadly accuracy. It was an amazing transformation.
I never watched Brock play, but my uncle always insists he was prone to overthrowing receivers. Would you say that's accurate?

History suggests that the Als would be wise if they held on to Fajardo - unless they 100% have a suitable replacement

CFRY is more of a news station for the Portage area. They do play country music, but it's not their bread & butter

never forget that the last go 'round they had to bump up their STC because literally nobody wanted the job, and then last year when they needed a new OC, literally nobody wanted the job.... EVERYONE turned them down..... except the local guy who just really wanted a job in pro ball. Can't be stated enough.... NOBODY wants to be in The Gap...
Jeffrey had previously coached in Edmonton and Toronto.

The Big Blue were in an almost identical situation - back in 2013 when they hired O'Shea.

I have it on pretty good authority that Buck wanted the job, he didn’t decline. I know fans of Big Blue would like to think that’s the case to push the agenda, but sadly, not so.
Regardless, Mace is a great hire. There was no losing for the Riders with Pierce or Mace.
Ok. But there was also 'pretty good authority' saying Pierce was the front runner.

and to correct that immediately will take big dollars....raping other areas of the team...and thats only if any quality top notch o-line guys make it to FA...and that in itself is rare....and Oday has shown he has no clue in drafting any, or finding any imports...Adding a new HC and a QB with potential...but not proven by any stretch isn't turning that turd around
Yep. I"d say the Riders need to go with 3 imports on the OL, like the Bombers did not that long ago. But who's going to find good ones? Sure as cuss not O'Day.

Game 29: vs Avs Ridiculous Start time alert

It should be a fight in the playoffs, which hopefully won't work too much in favour of the Eastern Conference.
