dmillerywg got a reaction from Jaxon in No End Call - CFL confirms it was an incorrect call
He was perfectly lined up you as long and you are not than 1 yard back you are fine, and it was 9 3/4 if you look at the yard marker he clearly was withing 1/2 yard so well within the rules. That REF needs to have a big fine or just let him so because he clearly effected the outcome of a game for NO REASON...

Agreed I think MOS will get one more year and Marcel B. will be offered up for a sacrifice ( as deserved ) the new OC that MOS hires will determine his furture
with the Bombers. As much as I think MOS has been part of the problem I still think he can be a very good HC in the CFL...

dmillerywg got a reaction from Adrenaline_x in Mike O'Shea runs poor practices.
I would suggest that just because MOS played in the CFL it doesn't mean he can run a high level practice, I am not saying all of the practice is bad my main complaints are listed above, however   MOS isn't insisting on a high intensity of practice similar to how he doesn't seem to demand effort in the games and there is no ( at least public ) consiquences for poor play / effort.
MOS is clearly searching for answers if you listened to the coaches show he said "did I work the players too hard in practice" so he seems to think their performance in Montreal might be because he worked them too hard ? I am not suggesting anyone take my opinion, I simply presented it and was hoping others might have seen practice and would weight in with their thoughts.

Funny but I see it the much differently , I see that Walters has gone above and beyond to get talent the the Coaches have messed it up after all a good coach tells the GM what he wants then the GM goes out and gets the players. I have no problem with Walters other than the fact that he picked a rookie head coach that is clearly learning on the job. I put most of the problems on the fact that Marcel B. is not able to coach his way out of a wet paper bag he is garbage and MOS picked 3 horrible co-ordinators ( Etch and Tracey Gone Marcel to follow ) showing he was not ready to be a head coach and MOS pratices are garbage as well he has no clue how to run a top level practice...

Agreed not much glory but his play has dropped off from the past 2 years, and Turner's play is even worse 3 tackles and 1 sack isn't very impressive....

dmillerywg got a reaction from Floyd in Brohm to start LDC?
I saw the one hop but that was as much the REC fault as Brohm's it was a much longer throw the WR was wide open and should have come back to the ball but the REC was S L E E P I N G , yes Brohm could have made a better throw but the REC has more than enough time to adjust to the ball IMO, and the more I watch practice the more I think we have a REC problem as much as a QB problem...
Brohm actually made some nice throws and looked like the best QB on the field today.. and Brohm did look decent with in his only CFL start before he got hurt so I am hopeful he will be much better than he has been....

As for Davis he made at least one nice throw but was picked 3 times by my count, there is no doubt to me that Brohm starts, Davis is #2 and Nichols #3.
Davis looks to be very mobile as well, I think he just had a tough day today hopefully he looks better tomorrow.

Nichols as getting 3rd string reps today as he is just learning the system...

    A. Kelly helped us win the First game vs Toronto with 2 TDs I don;t think another Bomber REC had 2 TDs in a game all last year, he also helped us win vs HAM with a critical catch on the winning drive and a very strong game so in our first 3 games he was important in 2 wins, he also has another very good game in another win ( don't remember the details ) A. Kelly also had more TDs than Denmark (4) Moore (0) and Byrant (0) combined with 6 I know that isn't many but it was tops on the team last year. And I am not saying he was great just saying he was better than you are giving him credit for...And I have no problem that he is gone because I realize his problem was a lack of speed and he was too light and got pushed around... Adams is a much better Receiver yes I agree with that but Kelly helped us last year and we miss having a big REC this year. J. Gordon is garbage ( at least so far ) and Veltung is a good returner and fillin but he is not a top REC...
So again until you have someone better you shouldn't just cut someone because they dared to speak back to the coaches....
So Walters has failed to find a big target the Bombers said they wanted to find, however I am not sure I trust that Marcel B. would know a good rec vs bad based on his opinion of Brohm being a CFL QB...

dmillerywg got a reaction from wbbfan in Markus Howell as the new OC - Free Press
Markus Howell should be made offensive coordinator. Free Press Article by Gary Lawless

Mike O?Shea should have done this Saturday night. Or Sunday morning if he really felt the need to see the film. But he won?t, which casts a light on both a strength and a weakness of this young head coach.

Bombers offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille and quarterbacks coach Gene Dahlquist need to be demoted. Markus Howell should be made offensive coordinator and Buck Pierce named quarterbacks coach.

O?Shea has stuck his nose into the areas of defence and specials teams of late and they?ve improved. Offence isn?t his forte, however, so it?s difficult to imagine him having a meaningful impact in terms of new ideas.

No, the easiest fix here is to give Howell and Pierce more power and influence.

Winnipeg?s offence is missing a lot of things ? mostly a quarterback which likely won?t be fixed until Drew Willy gets healthy. But the offence is also outmatched in scheme and play-calling.

Last in total yardage, last in points (145), last in points per game average (16.1), last in passing yardage and seventh in rush yardage. Undoubtedly the worst offence in the CFL.

Howell and Pierce would represent an upgrade over Bellefeuille and Dahlquist. Howell is smart and now experienced. Pierce not long ago was a quarterback in this league. He knows what other teams have been doing. They have ideas and deserve a chance to try and implement them. It can?t get worse, right?

O?Shea, like the rest of us, has a few blind spots. A second-year head coach, he likes to hire people to do their jobs and give them the opportunity to succeed. He?s loyal. But loyalty has to come in the form of what?s best for the team and organization and not just the individual.

O?Shea hasn?t earned the gravitas to lean on his way of thinking and to not re-consider some of his positions. That comes with years of experience and a proven formula.

We saw this play out last season when he stuck with defensive coordinator Gary Etcheverry when his scheme was proven porous. O?Shea waited until almost Christmas before firing the veteran coach.

As a young coach, O?Shea has wanted to surround himself with seasoned assistants. In theory, it?s a good idea. But it didn?t work with Etcheverry and it?s not working with Bellefeuille.

This offence isn?t effective. The Bombers haven?t proven capable of running or passing the ball. Some of it is personnel, but it?s also the game plan.

The coach has to see what the rest of us are watching and that?s an offence trying to operate with a playbook well past its prime.

All across the CFL, young and creative minds are doing wonders with their team?s offence. Winnipeg is not one of those places. With a little shuffling of the chess pieces that could change.

Never was it more evident than Saturday night with Calgary Stampeders offensive coordinator Dave Dickenson using multiple looks and formations to get the ball into the hands of his play-makers.

The Bombers? Who knows what they drew up because quarterback Robert Marve certainly didn?t execute it. That?s on the quarterback one might argue, but the coordinator has to recognize what his players can or cannot handle. Marve wasn?t put into a position to succeed.

Calgary is ahead of the curve and forward thinking. Not Winnipeg. Not right now.

Coaching can only go so far. The right personnel has to be in place for success to be achieved. But Winnipeg?s offensive roster is better than what we?ve seen this season.

Willy is a smart and effective quarterback but even under his hands this offence was predictable in scheme and inconsistent in results.

Changing the coach is far too often just a quick reflex suggestion. More often, a team?s failure is a result of poor execution and a lack of talent.

Nine games into this season and the Bombers remain in the playoff picture. The defence is coming into form and special teams were a strength in Saturday?s loss to the Stamps.

The offence, however, couldn?t stay on the field and eventually the defence gave out.

There?s still some life in this season. But it?ll be quickly extinguished if the offence can?t begin to chip in. Right now it?s the weak link, sapping energy from the rest of the team.

Talking to players around the league and in Winnipeg, O?Shea is gaining a reputation as a coach players want to work for. He?s a players coach but he also runs a tight operation. That will go a long way for a coach with the right personnel and coaching staff.

Just like the roster still needs tweaking, so does the staff.

Bellefeuille has had his opportunity to straighten this out. It hasn?t happened. Time to give someone else a chance.

    Howell has earned an opportunity.

So be loyal, Coach O?Shea. Put the needs of the many ahead of the few.

    Give change a chance.

I have read about 6 sites regarding the Tibial Plateau Fracture recovery time and all of them talk about recovery in Months not Weeks so forget the 6 weeks it will be 2 months before Willy can put any weight on it without the cast then you have to rebuild the leg so that will take a number of weeks. So after 2 months or so Willy will have the cast off but playing will be a different time line...

I listened to O'Shea said it and I was very disappointed Marve has been in the system 1 year plus 5 games soon to be 6 so he should know the system well enough to run the offence.

O'Shea and Marcel B. are S T U B O R N L Y refusing to play Marve because Brohm is "their guy" ... At the same time a team that has a record of 4-14 in their last 18 games doesn't have many more losses to go

before this will become a circus like year Burke coached, the one common thing is Marcel B. as the OC liking QBs that have no talent for the CFL ... Brohm and Boltis come to mind...

To me the bigger issue is our OC since we have not been able to handle the Blitz since he has been our OC that is the single biggest problem with the Bomber offense at this time IMO... our Oline can only do so much you need to know where to go with the ball when you see a blitz and that is where the Bombers have struggled...IMO...You need to make a team pay for Blitzing and the Bombers have consistently failed to do that...If it was me I would be passing over the top on single coverage to try and go for a home run at least once in a while...

What I expect is more coverage of what is really going on... It seems there is less coverage than normal, maybe that isn't a bad thing since Training Camp Hype is just that it doesn't really matter until the real bullets fly. It would be nice to get a report on how all of the rookies are doing in main camp and how some of the battles are shaping up... I am planning on going at least once this week so I can see for myself since that is the best way to see how things are going...

I was able to go for about 20 minutes you are not missing much, when I was there the Oline and Dline where doing drills and the others did a punt coverage drill with 3 players going down vs the returner and the coaches stressed the 5 yards it was a bit boring since it was just trying to teach the new players about the 5 yard rule, the only 2 players that caught my eye for no reason in particular other than I thought who is that where #50 Warden and #22 Randle , I did watch some of the OL vs DL and at first the Oline was doing well then the Dline players started to dominate. My first look at Chungh wasn't good he got flattened by one of the Dline ( Chungh did look much better in the scrimmage ) . I stayed for the Scrimmage and it was uneventful for the most part all QB got reps and they rotated players in and out every 2 plays or so it was hard to tell much from the scrimmage...

Mimms is a monster the only issue might be he is too tall to throw over ? and our RECs looked good I didn't have a player list with me but I picked out Reaves and Richards both big targets that can run, neither had any balls thrown their way when I was watching...
Anderson ( RB ) looks very small... short and light not sure he will be able to make it as a RB in the CFL...
