  1. Hopefully its just slow in coming... Otherwise I agree they Media Guy needs a tune-up.
  2. Blue Bombers Declare Mini-Camp a Resounding Success Winnipeg, MB, Canada / 680 CJOB - Winnipeg's News & Information Leader Bob Irving April 21, 2015 12:13 pm The Winnpeg Blue Bombers concluded their 3-day mini-camp in Bradenton, Florida on Tuesday and both General Manager Kyle Walters and Head Coach Mike O?Shea declared it a complete success. Walters said they identified at least 20, maybe 25 players, from the group of 51 that are worthy of being invited to the teams main training camp in late May. Practice had good tempo, the players worked hard and competed every day, the last period of the last practice was still hi-tempo. Now, the next step is to do a complete evaluation, watch all the film again and decide who should be added to our training camp roster said Walters. He added there will be tough decisions. The salary cap end of things combined with the personnel we have seen here, the job now is to piece together the best 75-man training camp. Walters and OShea both said there were receivers, linebackers, defensive backs and defensive lineman who caught their attention. Defensive back Johnny Adams from Michigan State, linebackers TraShaun Nixon from New Mexico State and C.J. Wilson from Western Michigan, receivers Ja-Mes Logan from Ole Miss, Lavon Downs from Delta State and Jhomo Gordan from Bethune Cookman all had strong performances. So did 3 big offensive tackles in 6-foot-8, 331 pound David Mims of Virginia Union, Zebrie Sanders from Florida State and Corey Lewis of Illinois. Offensive tackle is not an area of great need for the Bombers but at least one of those 3 is expected to get a camp invitation. Perhaps the most impressive player in the mini-camp was defensive end Derrell Johnson from East Carolina. The 6-1, 255 pounder showed a great burst along with strength and agility. The Bombers see him as the classic rush end they didn?t have last year. Regarding the contract situation with quarterback Drew Willy, Walters refused to discuss any details of the negotiations with Willy?s agent, but he did says if Willy doesnt sign an extension by the start of the season, they will wait until the end of 2015 to resume discussions. Willy is heading in the final year of his two year deal. I have high Hopes for Derrell Johnson we need a much stronger pass rush this year, Vega was not very impressive last season.
  3. Any word on how young Mr. Reaves acquitted himself once he got up to speed? I found this in the SUN http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/04/20/protecting-willy-improving-run-key-to-bombers-offence The Bombers held their first of two practices this morning at IMG Academy, and the receivers did a much better job of holding on to the ball than they did on Sunday. Winnipeg native Jordan Reaves was noticeably better in that department after a rough opening day of mini-camp.
  4. I don't see Dan West making the Bombers roster this season. I see Dan West making it he was one our our best Special Teams players last year.
  5. We haven't had a QB play in as many games as Willy since 2008
  6. If anyone thinks that by having Marve start this week, it means anything for next year, they're sorely mistaken. Marve could throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns and all it means is that the media will have some ammunition for when they conjure up their articles this offseason about a QB controversy. Willy is still QB1 going into next year, he's earned the reps, he deserves the reps and even if he's dinged up, beaten down and it ends up in a big loss for us, it's still all part of the process we need to be prepared to go through as fans. Because the end result will be a properly developed star QB. Period. You have to be Kidding ?
  7. Agreed it isn't easy however Chevy likes to develop within and I don't see anyone inside the organization that is ready to step up even the high pick ( can't remember his name ) looks to be years away based on his size and stats.... If you look hard enough you will find someone, all we heard in the off season was Chevy saying he had confidence in Pavs and the fact that he had lost lots of weight and was in top shape well losing 2 pounds and playing to his career save percentage isn't getting it done. Yes he plays well enough to win 2/3 games but we need goalie that can steal a game 1/3 and play well enough to win in all games... If you look at the Goalie stats your goalie needs to have at least a .910 save percentage to get you into the playoffs and Pavs is a career .906 Those few extra saves here and there make that much of a difference. And Pavs has played more games than any other Goalie ?
  8. Yup banging my head against the wall is starting to hurt maybe I should stop soon ?
  9. Yep. Maybe they should sit A. Kelly again as well so our new superstar WR can dominate again ( and lets not forget the amazing Romby Bryant ) ? Not saying he won't be a Superstar one day but A. Kelly gives us a better chance to WIN today so why the double standard ?

  11. Way too early to start projecting who will/won't be available. There's a whole list of issues to be addressed. Its only speculation no harm...
  12. If MOS doesn't fire at least one of DC or OC then I will have lost any remaining respect and hope for MOS as our HC... ( And our chances to improve next yr )
  13. Hard to say would have but I would say no way we give up 10 sacks with Marve under center, he would be running 10+ times in those situations.
  14. Career average .906 save percentage Pavs is a well below average NHL Starting goalie he would be a solid backup with those numbers as I believe he only plays well when fresh. I think if the Jets had added another goalie that was even just a bit better it would push Pavs and keep him fresh and his stats would go up. This year he 1st in games played 38th in save percentage .906 even with the Jets stressing Defence this year not nearly good enough. And so I agree its not all of his fault, maybe Hutchison turn into a goalie that can push Pavs for playing time.l I would have thought the Jets would have addressed the problem more aggressively well before now... And getting off to a slow start almost assures that we won't make the playoffs, an article was written last year that showed the odds of making the playoffs if you are not in or very close to a playoff position after 10 games is very low. So the Jets should have traded for a Goalie in the off season to make sure they got off to a Quick start.
  15. If the question is our GM doing a good job drafting YES Is he doing a good job setting the roster with trades and addressing our needs NO !!! We are basically Atlanta plus our drafts 4 years later... Until the Jets get a TOP Goalie they Will not Win consistently And Evander Kane could have and should have been moved for an asset especially if it was a Goalie.... Kane will always be a goal scorer but he will never be a complete player or a team player IMO...
  16. Yup.. Threats of violence always make your point more valid.. Smh. No - thats more frustration I get what he's saying. It can be infuriating when a 'fan' only see's what they want to see. Willy had all kinds of time to throw, he had receivers open. It was hilarious, on the telecast, Suitor tried to make a point that all the receivers were covered. The 'short' receiver was about 6 yards underneath the coverage, but of course Suits was on a roll so he said he was 'covered'. About 10 minutes of game time after that, Beck got the snap, turned, and fired a dart to Gore I believe it was, who was 'wide open' just like the bomber receiver was above, only the bomber defender was about 3 yards off him. It's amazing all the apologists there are for Drew 'freakin' Willy. At least more fans are finally starting to see what I've been seeing since mid-August. He hasn't nearly been good enough, and tonight was his worst start yet (but low an behold he finally threw another TD pass). But yeah, I get his frustration. Unless you know what the read progression is on the play that is called, it is impossible to say "he had receivers open." Probably the biggest fallacy in football from a fans point of view, when everyone goes "hey, that guy is open!" Ya, but it's the QB's 6th read, and the by the time the ball gets to him the DB or LB is going to completely fill in the "opening" most of the time. About as dumb as the people who yell "shoot" all the time on the powerplay at a hockey game. Are you a pro Qb? Juran, I'll ask you then you seem to 'know your stuff'. Explain to me how our second stringer, Brian Brohm, and our third stringers, Robert Marve, can, with the same receivers, same oline, and same OC, and same play calling, make plays, and Willy can't? This is a legit question 'cause I definitely don't have a clue. Thanks in advance Willy had a bad game. Doesn't change the point of my other^ post, we can't know if he had receivers "open" or not because we don't know what he was looking at before or during the play. Unless you have access to the coaches film it's a complete assumption to make watching on TV or from the stands. BC has a great secondary, that's part of it. Our scheme with Willy doesn't move him around a lot. Hard for us to say if that is Bellefeuille's fault, Willy's fault (in terms of him preferring to take a straight drop) or a combination. Our scheme for Brohm vs Calgary moved him around a lot, even though he isn't a "mobile" QB. Did he "make plays?" I wouldn't say he did anything special. He was steady, but it was pretty obvious that the game was simplified for him with the rollouts which essentially shorten the field, make throws and reads a little quicker. Marve was just blind luck IMO, and even at that he completed 50% of his passes while continually putting the ball in harms way. It doesn't matter what he's freaking told to look at, the best QBS in the league will find an open receiver if they are open. Especially if they are wide open! You CAN"T find an open receiver though, if you don't even look. The majority of the time Willy wasn't looking, he was panicking!#!#1 Even when he didn't have to panick!!!!! I noticed this as well, Willy does not swivel his head, he's focused on one side of the field and pays no attention to the other half. DING DING DING, you got it but keep in mind that is Marcel B's offensive scheme ! At first I was thinking he might be onto something until I have seen it in action. Its a stupid system when you use it all of the time...once in a while it works but defenses are smart and will trick you into looking to the wrong side. And an top level QB will look one way and then turn to the side they want to throw to ( at least some of the time to keep the defense honest ) Drew is LOCKED into one side and NEVER looks to the other side, given plenty of time he is very accurate but D's have figured out how to beat him many games ago and Marcel B. is either to stubborn or stupid to adjust... And why didn't we run the ball in the 3Q ? Even with the sacks and poor QB play we had a chance if we kept runing the ball.
  17. Its mostly on MOS, he started 5-1 so we had some talent... it comes down to his stubborness IMO, if you don't agree with him you are out the door way to harsh.. If you kiss his ass ( Romby , EJ, Willy ) you can play no matter what...
  18. He has drafted well but its basically Atlanta in Winnipeg still same core players... To me its simple the Jets won't win until they get a top level Goaltender. Pavs was awful... He is ranked 41st in save percentage this year and thats the BEST he has ever done. I just watched the highlights yes lots of 2 on 1s but 44 played them wrong and Pavs looked stupid on 3 of the 4 IMO Get a new GOALIE...
  19. MOS has been telling us the same thing he isn't worried about the number of yards the other teams gets...seems contrary to everything we have be told over the years by the broadcasters...
  20. K.. Fine fine.. He was an Exceptional Above Average QB... That's all I'm saying. Truthfully, I think that is what most of us are saying.. It's other folk who seem to think that anything other then "omgz bestest mobility QB evar!!" Is an insult to his accomplishments... When, really... Saying he belongs in the hall, that he had a great career despite not being the most accurate or "football talent" QB are not insults either.. This place simply spawns bitchfest after bitchfest.... Can we all agree on that at least? Lol. do you even read what you type? You obviously can't read what others type so I doubt itm I thought this post was about the Bombers QBs ?
  21. No one will outplay Willy in practice for one good reason I have been to at least 10 practices this year and no one is putting any pressure on the QBs I have never seen a practice where a player was brought to the ground. In other words everyone looks good until the real bullets fly... And on the subject of practice I have never seen where our 1 one offense goes against our 1 one defense its always first team vs scout team ? To me there are times when you go best against best and so far I have not seen that with the bombers practices...
  22. Make no sense to me, Willy hasn't played well for Weeks now he hasn't earned the start based on his play other players have to sit and wait their turn but Willy gets to start based on what ? I won't be watching if Willy is playing I am done with stupid coaches starting their guy let the best players play ! Tired of Romby Bryant as well and EJ would be playing if he wasn't injured MOS neesd to learn to start his best players regardless of salary or who his favorites are... Willy IS the best QB, don't be ridiculous. Suggesting he's not is bordering on idiocy. Willy IS the best QB, don't be ridiculous. Suggesting he's not is bordering on idiocy. And you base that on what the fact that Willy has been so successful this year ? Have you checked his stats his QB rating he is very much on par with Max Hall so that puts him clearly in the lead of the current group ? I am not saying he won't be good down the road I can see that Willy does have some very good qualities as a QB however that doesn't mean he is the best QB on the roster we haven't see Marve in a full game and Portis has been on the PR...so until we see them we won't know. I have been to many practices and Willy is accurate when he sees someone open however he doesn't see the entire field and recognize where to go with the ball all of the time and he takes way too many sacks because he needs to throw the ball away sometimes... I have also not been impressed with his practices many times as he has been outworked but the other QBs and to me your Starter should lead the way... Also Willy isn't very mobile. So some good things some bad... but until you see the other QBs play a full game or more you can't say who the best is... Willy needs to improve for me to be convinced he is our future he has the potential to be a very good QB down the road but at this point I am not sure he will be time will tell.... If Willy proves me wrong this week good for him and the Bombers but I am tire of waiting for Willy to turn it around...to me this season is over in terms of the playoff so lets get the other QB's some experience and see what they can do...
