Michael Sam has signed a two-year deal with the deal with the Alouettes. #CFL

 

 

Yeah this probably didn't need it's own thread but considering all the attention this got in the NFL it's going to be interesting how it is going o be played out in the CFL.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's cut in camp.

So if he makes the team what is the over under for how many times during the season his situation will be mentioned - like maybe a thousand? Don't know about you guys but this news is getting pretty old.

Forgot about him.  Guess he's reached the point where it seems like the shortest route to the NFL is thru the CFL.

Glad to hear it.  The story deserves attention.  I remember Westwood talking about how he'd get an easier time in the CFL but that there would still be locker room issues.  If thats true, it's sad to hear.  Its 2015.

I think he's got a good chance to make an impact. He was an extremely productive rusher at Missouri. The NFL hates 'tweeners, but I think its a good fit up here for him - assuming they don't ask him to cover a lot. Don't think he's got enough speed to cover consistently.

It's an important topic for many people, I doubt they find their struggle "getting old". 

apparently he might not be even close to football shape. At one point ran a 4.61 40, but last clock was a 4.99. So Mike might be right on this one.

I cheer for Michael Sam but if he shows up in bad shape and makes the teams it's just to sell tickets. Was awful at the veterans combine 8 weeks ago. He ran the 40 in 5.07 and 5.10 one agent said it was flat out horrible. Hope he has put in some work since then

Hopefully its a story for a couple days/games then he is just another guy on the roster.

Yeah at the "Veteran's Combine" his numbers didn't impress, at all. I don't have high hopes for him.

Montreal is known to sign guys for the PR (not practice roster). Have a hard time believing he will stick, but all the best to him.

Chad Johnson worked out so well as a 36 year old, they're bringing him back for another kick at the can! Sam has a good 13 years left.

Oh yes. I remember back when Jackie Robinson made his debut. Mike was up in arms on the Dodgers message boards.

To CFL fans, yes... but most NFL fans still think the CFL is bush league and any NFLer can dominate here... 

I would love to see Sam stick in the CFL for a long time. The homophobes on both sides of the border will be outraged, but screw 'em. If Sam becomes a valuable member of his community and taxpayer, that's all we need from him.

I think people are vastly overestimating the amount of homophobes in both Canada and the US. Sure, they exist but if Sam comes in, plays well and has a long career in Canada far more people will be happy for him than outraged. By an incredible margin.

 

Unless he plays like Chip Cox in which case I will hate him and rue the day he was signed.

If Sam becomes a valuable member of his community and taxpayer, that's all we need from him.
