Free Agency - 2014...

Not counting Sundays, there are 17 days left to sign our own FAs.

Do the Bombers have a say in all the FAs we have to sign or do circumstances exist where we have no chance?

For me, at least to get to TC:

Desirable signings - Some for obvious reasons, some for NI content, some for experience:

Henoc Muamba, Chris Matthews, Jade Etienne, Brandon Stewart, Will FordJovon JohnsonAkeem Foster, Kenny Mainor, Justin Sorensen, Marc Parenteau.

Signings if it makes sense - Again, ratio-wise and depth, new signings:

JT Gilmore, Ryan Lucas, Chris CvetkovicChris KowalczukDan West.

Not a Priority - Injuries….

Chad Simpson, Andre Douglas.

For comparison: (not including retired, suspended or released)

BC - …………..0 - 5 signings

Edmonton…….4 - 11

Calgary……….10 - 17

Sask…………..3 - 17

WBB…………..6 - 18

Hamilton………1 -6

Toronto……….1 - 10

Montreal………8 -17

The Bombers have 79 60 players listed on their roster page including all eligible FAs.
There are 34 imports and 32 26 NIs.
However, I can't imagine injured players like Sims-Walker will be back nor Bo Smith, nor Boltus (but that's just my wish)

  • I've come to the conclusion that Kels is plugged into a different league than the rest of us. Some sort of parallel universe where all the names are the same but everything else is completely backwar

  • So all those people who screamed bloody murder about the bombers leaving Dough Alert unprotected want to step forward now and admit that they over reacted?

  • If Charles Roberts is the standard for RBs then you are always going to be disappointed. Guy was one of the all time greats.  Reid was good, Simpson was good, Garrett was good. You simply don't need t

Fine, I should have said will be one of the best. And clarified that I look at him as a fb-sb so that mr perfect didn't freakout.

As for lewis, I see lavoie as the same lumbering type rec with deceptive speed and great hands

Lumbering is an interesting way to describe a guy that has become famous for jumping over defenders to avoid tackles.

Glad to entertain...

So Nik Lewis does NOT look 'lumbering' you?   He's 5'10 and 240 lbs...

Lumbering as in runs over guys, deceptive speed as in jumps over Ike... but you know exactly what I meant and not unlike criticizing my TE/Coach post and then writing pretty much the same thing the next day... its cool, its your thing.  I overstate, you undermine.

Simple...don't overstate  ;)

Lumbering, to me, means slow, ponderous, without grace or agility..

Not normally something id equate to an athlete... Unless it was a centre in basketball or an o-lineman covering a missed fg..

You guys are right.  Nik Lewis has never ever just ran over people.  He always jumps over them, every time, he is the most agile receiver in the league.  That guy is twisty, Mervyn Fernandez ****.

I like how people are way over analyzing what Kels is saying...

My advice to Kels.... if you are talking about a player that a Bomber fan would hate and/or is a definite "crappy" player then you use Lumbering.

If it's about a guy you are trying to pump up and/or a former Bomber player who people adored then you use the word Steamroll....  I.E.  Sellers.

Lavoie is still unproven but he may be a very versatile guy *if* healthy.   I wouldn't compare him to any big names at all at this point though.   He's definitely the type of player that Ottawa should take a risk with because he may be very productive at a very cheap price and could help them out ratio wise.

At this point I definitely wouldn't be going gaga over him... that would be very Rod Black'esque going crazy over a Montreal player who had one or two big games and then go off about them for the next 2 years...  I.E  Bo Bowling....

As has been said Lavoie is a huge question mark because of his injury last year. In his first year, Montreal used him a lot for blocking iirc - not sure how anyone can predict what type of future he has based on 39 career receptions.

That's what dictionaries say too.  ;)

So, does Bryant Turner run or does he levitate himself when making a tackle?

Sweet. Got a mind like a dictionary I do. Completely different then that lavoie and nik lewis are being described as doing..

And to think, if the right wording was used originally, this thread loses 3 pages.. Off-season is way too long lol

Wow.

Wow Taman is just taking one hot steamer in his pants this offseason.

Everyone knew Sask was up against the cap last season. Now they are stuck with no cap space and a group of players that think being Grey Cup champs is an instant automatic raise. The price of success.

Isn't this what Taman did with us most of his years here?  Sign a bunch of vets to big contracts in hopes to nab a cup and then have to dump them all the next season?  The big difference is it finally worked for him this year!  Let's see how long he can maintain this team.

Considering they've lost Shologan and Dressler (Sheets wasn't there long enough to warrant a big contract) I'm curious what their cap figures were.

I guess in Winnipeg it isn't about winning

about a foot long

Schmitt signs with the leos???No there's a swift kick in the endzone. Clearly the riders are taking a hit. Good thing they won their 4th. Cup last year. The next one could be awhile off. lol lol

Way too soon.  I might still be alive in 24 years.

And at that rate they'll have as many Cup wins as us by, say, 2050 or so....

I'm pretty sure the riders aren't really concerned about losing a punter...

The loss of Dressler on the other hand is huge and probably forced Taman to od on footlongs...

Eskimos release S Donovan Alexander.

Any interest? Maybe cut Cauchy and bring in Alexander at a lower price...
