Before we give up entirely on Eli, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, my total experience in football consists of playing a couple of falls in high school, so I am in no position to assess players unless they really soil the linens. Secondly, it has been my belief that a center's play is not just about ability, it is also about coaching and hard-won game experience. I am not sure Eli has been given proper coaching, and he sure as spit has not been allowed to grow into the job, O'Shea being who he is and favouring "his" players. Thirdly, so far as I can tell, Elsbury has not gotten any better with repetition and as we saw with Kolankowski, if the center ain't good, ain't nobody on the line good. Fourthly and lastly, the best one among us to give a global assessment of Eli would be Booch, and I, for one, would appreciate his input.

I know you're not new here since you're signature says "AKA Tracker"... but you're clearly not paying attention if you don't already know @Booch 's feeling on Eli, lol

Enough with Collaros already. Ive been more than done with him for years now, but this season has to be the end. The guy would get injured in a pillow fight with my 8 year old daughter. His brain is cooked, his arm his cooked, cant take the slightest hit, eats sacks like its his day job, and at 38 years old he still makes brain-dead throws every game that a 21 year old rookie would make. That 2nd INT was an f'ing joke. Whos makes that throw?!? Ive lost count at how many times he's turned the ball over on brain-dead plays in the red zone this season. You just cant do that. Move on with Brown for better or for worse and let Elgersma learn behind him. Enough already.

I'm not as fed up with Zach as you are... but I do have the same feelings about moving on... if Zach hurt, this would be a perfect opportunity to really tie the reigns to Brown and see what he can do... and hopefully not look back

I don't disagree overall but that 2nd INT looked much worse live than on replay. The LB made a hell of a play to fake man coverage and leave his guy for the INT.

By now there is enough data to make an absolute comparison between Elsbury and Eli, and I. for one, would appreciate an assessment of the two.

Gotta start calling the O-line "the Brady Bunch".

I don't know that there is because Eli has hardly ever played centre.

He might miss on some pass blocking plays now and then (reality is we already get they), but Eli can move bodies out of the way better than elsbury can and given out reliance on Brady isn't that a valuable thing?

Hard to tell what the injury to Zack is....he sort of trotted off the sidelines so it's not likely a leg injury...looked to me more like the recurring 'concussion' issues he has....In any event bring on Dru and Elgersma along with Perkins as the backup ...If anyone needed any proof that Zacks time in the league have passed, watch that last effort of his in the banjo....

If it's not shoulder or collar bone or something for collaros I'll be shocked.

Bench the highest paid player on the team for 2 - 3 other guys. The club would never have the nuts to do something like that. Maybe fake 6 game IR him as a nice way to bench him would be the only way to go.

can he? I’m betting Elsbury could bury some guys out at te too. Trying to move the nt/dt is a bigger ask than what Eli’s doing.

I'd bet on brachial plexus...which they call "neck"

Elsbury is a strange athlete. He's fast and a good jumper for his size but he isn't powerful or physically explosive like that. Teams dont really have bigger DTs, you see the dt tweener but not guys that big. At 333 lbs, he handily has 20-30 lbs on every DT he faces. yet he is not able to road grade at all. Eli does for sure.

At this point of the season and career for zach, I don't think there is a lesser of any evils when it comes to injurys.

I don't have any idea what Eli has to offer... but I know he has history at C... and I find it hard to believe a line of Big Stan*-Vanty-Eli-Wallace-Brox + Neufeld woiuldn't be an improvement...

*though I'd prefer Broxton at LT

on short yardage Eli plays inside the tackle...and most the dives go his side. Elsbury hasnt been dominant, or consistent in moving nobody really...gets roller skated alot...and cant keep on a block very well

Plus Eli is not a small dude...he's 6'-4" and listed at 315 I think?..But he heavier than that so he's not undersized by any stretch, and he's athletic on top of it...But like mentioned by

@17to85 when has he been given a real shot...never....but games he filled in was no worse than anyone of late, and likely a bit better once settled in...and with more reps prob really settle in, And a real shot is several games to watch film on him in real games....we too hung up on his role we put him in and how well he does it...plain and simple

Correct...If anything Elsbury would make a great 6th and used on the edge to get out in front of run plays...But for a bigger bodied guy he is very disappointing in his brute strength ability and his ability to manhandle any defender..Has a hard time keeping engaged too...Eli...Polar opposite...But he also excels outside too...gets upfield really fast...and can play multiple spots on line...so we feel some need to keep him there evn if it means inferior center play...like 4 yrs running now

If he was given the Kolo rope back when that charade started he'd be a hell if a Center now,,,,Prob poached away from us for refusing to ante up...Tho he not wired like that so I sure a fair deal woulda kept him.

Honestly, watching it live if it is any of those ill be shocked. It was a pretty light "hit", if you can even call it that, that he took.

Yeah the only but he took was from the ground, which given the way he rolled over makes me think shoulder something. Could be neck too I guess. But definitely some thing. Probably related to his neck problems he's had for a few years now.

As far as our O Line goes, it starts with a failure to retain Dobson..I don't know why we decided to part ways but the 'road grader' that Dobson was is certainly missed....In my view a mistake by Walters for not resigning him as we have definitely 'down graded' the hogs

The OL has been hit or miss since we started trotting out a subpar centre to be honest. The guy who was truly a huge loss was Deslauriers

This... We were never getting him back, which sucks, but he's the only guy we really miss. I guess you could say Yoshi, if just for vibes, but RT has been more than adequately replaced. The C hasn't been right since Couture.

Couture... But he went for the money like they all do. Made a bad career decision. Hope he likes playing for his third head coach since he came back from the NFL as well as a 0-12 team. But in reality he's 0-18.

Have been watching Dobson play C in hamilton. Can't judge his run or pass blocking, but his shotgun snaps are all over the place -- they rarely hit the QB in the hands crisply, so the QB usually needs to spend extra attention on securing the ball at the start of the play. Very Dominic Picard like.

It's shocking that someone can play center in the CFL without being able to do the very first part of their job very well.

You mean Desjarlais, right?

It goes back farther than that but Dejarlais, Couture .. then Dobson .. we've bled talent on the line and they are all better than what we have there currently. I'd trade any one of those guys over who we have starting right now in a heart beat.

My wife & I drove from Calgary to Winnipeg. We went to the game. We won. It was fun. We drove back to Calgary, That is all.

Considering the current price of gasoline, that is a major investment.
