I’m at camp today. First observation is DeShaan Dixon has the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen on a football player.

  • It’s starting to feel like, a week in, it’s business as usual and we haven’t learned much. Still looks like we’re getting ready to trot out 8-9 Canadians for no reason and value experience above every

Honestly have never seen Wilson enter a game (regular or pre-season) and look like anything but a raw rookie. He did well on short yardage, couple big runs.

His preseason games have all been a series of being indecisive in the pocket, check downs and sacks.

Low floor with not much ceiling. Was pretty surprised he was brought back for a third camp but still on rookie deal.

lol so Terry quit when he saw the depth chart? Good riddance then. Terry couldn’t hit a 15 yard pass. TE was hitting dudes 30 yards away. Now TE might struggle early but I have no doubt after watching him something is there and he’s a better QB than Wilson. Strongest arm in camp by far. Effortless. Speed flex made me dislike TE a bit but when you see the guy in person you go, yeah he’s got something there. 6 foot 5 and an arm and a half, I could see why he waited a bit to come up. Great interviews also.

Professional teams like to sign players who have family members running their mouths on SM right? This likely wont hurt TWs chances on landing on another team....

omg, I had just read her reply to one of my comments, but she is going ham on everyone. Fans, media, the organization.

She called Paul Friesen "vile and souless" lol.

Sounds like he was never weaned.

I'm perfectly good on moving on from Wilson, he didn't show much with his very limited chances. I believe Shea Patterson is still floating around if the club needs a veteran arm who is familiar with the game.

On FB, what appears to be Wilson's wife is commenting that TE was handed the 2QB role without competition.

If Wilson wants to keep playing then his family isn't helping him. They should stay off social media.

There’s a person on twitter who appears to be Terry Wilson’s mom responding to every tweet about his situation. She makes it pretty clear he knew he wasn’t getting the backup job.

Is no one bringing up that his mom is also his wife??!! 🤭

Someone said it’s his mom. The comments are all very pro bombers tho and telling her terry basically sucked. I respect the mom but she gotta know she not doing any favours. Im not sure id want a guy like Terry back unless he did leave for other reasons and his mom just going off from a distance cuz she believes her son got screwed when he had 2 3 years here and did very little with it.

When I was at practice

I’d have honestly ranked it

  1. Elgersma

  2. Zach

  3. Perkins

  4. Wilson.

And Wilson way behind Perkins cuz Perkins could hit 10 yard throws. Not so much the outs but the others? Yup. But he’s dual threat.

I am going to assume the Blue already know what they had in Wilson and were wanting to give the new guys the reps to see what they can offer. If that is the case then Wilson could have at least waited until after pre season before giving up. Injuries happen and maybe Perkins really shits the bed and they cut him instead. Maybe a different club in the league has injuries + bad depth and want a veteran arm and would have gave him a call if he were cut.

Unless other circumstances because he was put on the suspended list and not released , I wouldn’t want a leader who quit after seeing a pre season depth chart. Suspended tells me there’s more to it, cuz that means bombers keep his rights.

When a player walks you suspend him. Nothing more to it than that. You dont just let guys walk out of contracts or you would see guys just walking all over the league whenever the wind changes.

If you want out you do it the right way and request your release while working your ass off. You take your ball and go home, you dont get to be a free agents.

Elgersma is better at pitch and catch than Collaros. Good to know.

Elgersma throws a great ball, but as I expected, the game is too fast for him, and he made some ill-advised throws.

Tim White was great. Did everything they asked for and more.

The O-line protected well but didn't open up any running lanes.

Two pick-sixes off of backup QBs should have been the story of the game, but the 3rd stringers let it get away.

Looked like a lovely day at the ball park, way better than that eastern rain bowl.

Football is back!

I wonder if we are planning to roll out a double-tight alignment this year.

With Wallace sliding out to T, a significant glut of OL despite the starters being set, moving Clercius to slot, bringing in another NI WR on starter money, plus drafting Daniels while also having MCI, it would make sense. Not to mention the American C, who played much of the first preseason game (they love Eli in the Te Pack)

Our new heavy set would be double tight instead of just 1 te. That would give us 7 blockers on 4 DL and 2 lbers, guaranteeing at least 1, if not 2, double team blocks and forcing DBs to be 1-on-1 with the RB, but also with a big blocker, which would have the D wanting to sub to go heavy with 1-2 players as well, which would leave us needing to have Heavies who are also passing threats. As teams are carrying extra DL currently, but not full-size linebackers, especially not ones capable of man covering.

Daniels isn't the best runner, but he's faster than Eli. (Who they like pass catching, crazy as that is.) The plan might be Wallace/Eli/Daniels as 1 TE more as primary blockers, but guys who have varying ability to release, and a guy like MCI/Clercius/Nield on the other spot doing more blocking and release on pass plays and more routes than blocking.

And while the D is focusing on run fits and figuring out who covers the big guys, the likes of White/Wilson/Demski are left as afterthoughts to run mostly 1-on-1s with minimal help.

Even the imp RB, rocker, is a big do-it-all tweener back. The depth of Canadian WRs we have are almost all big, slow, block and good hands types.

It also kind of aligns with the volume of huge OL we have this year. We have 7 guys easily passing 330lbs. Vs just 2 under 305, and 3 under 310. Out of 14 ol in camp. We look like we are in an arms race, prepping for trench warfare in the run game.

There is some precedent for this down south, 3 teams have been running 13 formation, most notably the Rams. Who are a team with a similar run pack, and who we have had more than a little overlap with in passing concepts going back through the last 3 OCs.

When we are talking our receiving corps. we have to mention Singer...This guy plays like he wants to stay and made a very good argument for just that.....White is all of his stats. and more...Petersen had a poor showing yesterday but that could be because the hogs up front were not being able to punch some holes for him...One more preseasoner and some guys better step up their game

Chris-Ike looked better and MOS made a comment this year about how we had been playing him out of position but he looked better in his natural role. It's at least possible we'll see a switch there.

Perkin's arm strength is improvable, but he is going to have to work at it. Dieter Brock had a so-so arm and in the off season he went home, practiced throwing shot put weights and had a monster year.

Is it, at 29?

I think he is what he is and you just find a way to work with that.

Brady wasn't getting a lot either. Sask is pretty good at mucking up the middle.

Certainly isn't going to improve much over the course of this season. He did make some nice throws down field into tight spots. Probably speaks to his accuracy and quick decisions more than anything.

Id love to hear an honest appraisal of expectations and excitement for camp. FA and the draft were big wins for the front office and staff. I wouldn't expect him to single guys out, but talking positionally about how guys are gonna get a shot at DE or C would be good. Talking about how we moved to a younger, more athletic roster, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out vs the vets.

Personally, I'm numb to the fact that the last thing mos wants to do in any interview or coaches show is talk Xs/Os, positional play, players, etc. It is what it is. You can do that, though, without having to walk a line like a politician as a coach.

Anyone who walks up to Mos or Walters can have a great conversation on all things football. But put a semi-formal setting around mos, and you get drivel. To be fair, I bet the coaches' show would be a lot better if it were with brown or both PBP and color. Doug would push far more interesting questions, and if he got chippy, mos would brush it off but take it well. But that content, and his interviews in general are not aimed at fans like myself or most of the people here. It's aimed at the senior citizens who listen to OB and sit in coffee shops.

The way you guys like to pick everything apart, not saying much is probably the smartest thing MOS can do. We could always try the maple leafs approach of letting the fans and media chase guys out of town they don't can do their jobs. Very successful in getting rid of guys without the right stuff for the playoffs like Mitch Marner. Take a breath and enjoy the team for what it is. Plenty of time for bitching once the games actually start 😂

I agree. I'd love to hear the Xs and Os too, but I completely agree that a bunch of fans with a limited knowledge of them would start spewing hate if he shared.

yep. In theory he could, in practice probably not, in reality not any time soon.

his velocity is fine. he needs touch and accuracy improvements, and decision making improvements. which you expect from a first game qb. he had some good throws and while he has limitations, his strengths still make him very useful.

mos doesn’t care about what fans or media has to say about the club.

Maybe read the last paragraph, instead of jumping to strawman arguments, and bitching for the sake of bitching to avoid actually talking about football.

I agree, wbbfan. This is a discussion forum. Basically being told to shut up & just appreciate what we have doesn't cut it here.
