I’m at camp today. First observation is DeShaan Dixon has the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen on a football player.

  • It’s starting to feel like, a week in, it’s business as usual and we haven’t learned much. Still looks like we’re getting ready to trot out 8-9 Canadians for no reason and value experience above every

We are talking about the 4th and 5th QB on the depth chart who are (or were I guess) current making less than you could be making on EI right?

It's nice to have a romantic view of a team and comradery but at the end of the day it's a business. No one really knows what's being said inside the locker room. You hope that guys are being accurately appraised of their situation. I don't think you can begrudge these guys from seeing the writing on the wall and deciding to go home.

If it's such a bad thing to be the 4th or 5th qb then why even come to training camp? You say it's a waste of time so no big deal if they leave. Well, I don't buy what your selling. There are guys who would play on a broken leg if they could. Or never would consider quitting even if they were behind the 8 ball. Yes, it's a business you get paid to win. However, giving up on yourself is also a business decision. They made it. Good luck to them.

SFU didn't deserve players like Tyler & the others who stuck it out & gave thir blood & sweat for a program that didn't care about them. He should have transferred out but he didn't. I give him credit for sticking it out but but the cost was very high emotionally & physically for the guy.

Anyway, I can see where this conversation is going. I'm being pidgeon holed by some here & every time I give an answer the hole is getting smaller. So, for any of you who think my opinion is invalid or romantic, good on you. I have my beliefs & you have yours. Never the twain shall meet. My conversation on this topic s over.

You don't find the timing even a little bit odd... The day before a game?

The one time I agree with you. Both knew they had playing time coming. So, go out & show how good they are. To quit a day or 2 before that game makes no sense. From a business sense.

One guy leaving that's not weird... two guys leaving early. I can't remember ever having 2 qbs quit before even getting a chance in a pre season game. Are we recruiting bad character players? Are the guys being treated like ****? Do we just have bad luck? Condell pissing people off? It would be nice to have a reporter speak with the guys and get their side on why they left.

I'm not sure if Thorne had playing time coming... I'm not sure how you give 5 QBs playing time in a game.

For Wilson... maybe I'm a bit cynical but is it that hard to think Wilson who has attempted 39 passes through 4 season of pro football and coming into this 3rd season on a team being told that he'll be battling for the 3rd QB spot finally deciding before live bullets start going that maybe this is the end of the line?

Can I vote for the option of poor roster management? Why bring a guy back for his third year to compete to hold a clipboard all year? I'm guessing for a little bit of continuity but you know what you have in him after 2 full seasons.

Watched Thorne interview shortly after he signed here and he sounded pretty ready to move into coaching. Like wasn't counting on having a pro career.

Wilson maybe not seeing progress for himself in working up the depth chart but also the game is the chance to win a job. Could be something personal too.

I think it’s two very different situations. Every year there are guys who don’t even show up to camp, or come and leave in the first couple of days. Thorne was a PR candidate and seems to have made a career decision.

Wilson was told the depth chart - which in any other year he’d be listed as #2 based simply on tenure - but was pushed down the depth chart and is seemingly blaming the organization for not giving him a chance.
