2025 CFL (Non-Bombers) Season

From 3DN about TSN broadcasts this year....

"The CFL on TSN is taking a renewed approach to its broadcasts for 2025.

The network’s panel will travel to all nine stadiums over the course of the upcoming season, sources told 3DownNation, including visits to Regina and Montreal in Week 1. Kate Beirness is returning to host the panel with Henoc Muamba and Davis Sanchez filling the main roles alongside her.

Paul LaPolice will also frequently appear on the panel, though he will also perform colour commentary for one game per week. As previously reported, longtime panelist and Hall of Fame quarterback Matt Dunigan is no longer with the network.

As for Milt Stegall, who has been with the network since 2009, there is no timeline for his return after the death of his eldest son, Chase. The 20-year-old died unexpectedly at DePaul University on Monday where he was a member of the school’s soccer team.

“Our CFL on TSN family is absolutely devastated over Chase’s passing. If you know Milt, you know that his family is everything to him, and we cannot imagine the pain he is going through right now,” said producer Chris Edwards in a statement to 3DownNation. “Milt is our brother and we are going to give him our love and support him in any way we can, and in whatever way he needs.”

During a broadcast teeing up the 2025 season on Tuesday, TSN dedicated its coverage this year to Chase’s memory.

TSN plans to flesh out the panel by rotating in active players, though it doesn’t appear as though this will happen every week. Players will generally make panel appearances during bye weeks, though there may also be opportunities for in-studio appearances when players are in town to play the Argonauts or Tiger-Cats.

Friday Night Football, a longtime network staple, will have a brand new presentation featuring fresh animations, graphics, and music. One source called the scope of the production “bigger.”

The play-by-play personnel at the network has remained unchanged for 2025, featuring Rod Smith, Dustin Nielson, Marshall Ferguson, and occasionally Farhan Lalji. Colour commentary will be performed by Glen Suitor, Duane Forde, and LaPolice."

Honestly the main selling point of the CFL are the timing rules of the final 3 minutes.  And arguably the most boring part of any NFL game when a team with a one score lead can just bleed the clock un

May be an image of 1 person, playing football and text that says '680 COB Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB CHATEB I'm holding a wake for the death of the 55-yard line, the the2 20 yard end zones zones and the missed FG/punt thru the end zone rouge (hello NFL), but otherwise I see the argument for the other changes. Crucial that the 3- downs, the waggle, the wide field, Cdn ratio all stay. Onward.'

He called them garbage, says a lot of the uniqueness of the Cdn game is gone, special teams play is minimized and he questions the analytics that were used. Also upset that coaches players weren't consulted.'

But a day later and like in the end it’s very minor change. Wonder how Many ppl in Toronto purchased seasons with these exciting innovative changes said nobody ever tho. Vince McMahons xfl was innovative tho. The cameras and the angles and the scramble at the start. That was fun changes looking to bring ppl In. The stuff they implemented the avg fan probably doesn’t give the poop about. How does this enhance my football viewing pleasure. These changes are probably a compromise of sorts to not go full American style. It almost seems like a win for traditional cfl fans. Cuz this is basically minor compared to what they could have announced. I would have liked to have been In the room tho when someone suggested that the elimination of missed fg returns will actually make the game more exciting. As TSN play by play dude orgasms loud on Vavals return. Honestly.

Well, Bob. Patrick Neufeld isn't upset with the changes & is willing to give them a chance. What say you, Bob? He's not upset he wasn't consulted. about it.

Neuf is also turning 37 this year, and the biggest part of the rules won't start until 26—there's very little chance he'll play long enough to see them. One guy caring than others isn't much of a point either.

It just shows why players weren’t consulted. Because you’re getting the opposite opinions from everyone they talk to. If they have interviewed 20 ppl, 10 are ok with it and 10 aren’t.

Starting the play clock immediately after the play will burn more game clock. The end of the games won't be as exciting. Only one time out after the three minute warning. Not sure how this will increase scoring?

As insignificant as a throwaway skit in a cartoon might seem, the closer we get to the American game, the less reason anyone has to pay any attention to us at all.

I think that’s why you do go to the pa though. It’s divisive changes that you need to consult over. a change like, each team has their own side line, doesn’t need discussion it goes with out saying.

The game has 3 stake holders. the players, the fans, and the league. one side making sweeping large scale changes with out consulting the two is how you kill your market.

Even if it’s what I suspect in the worst case, that we are a couple years away from being a 4/5 team league with no tv deal, being open with the risks would garner understanding and positivity. As it is, half the player base is pissed, and a huge portion of the fan base country wide is pissed.

I think they could’ve gotten people on board for more of the changes with a more transparent, inclusive approach.

My point is one guy hates it & another doesn't. Consult the players & nothing will ever get done. The Governors want change & they're going to get it.

Yup that’s one legitimate side, how about it may entice higher quality players here as that’s the game they are use to playing? So many varying perspectives on this.
