Every one those coaches....you earned the spot, but also had to maintain it.....Ritchie in his later yrs had a fondness for some his vets, but at the least some them still could play....

Richie absolutely kept too many vets long term. But the talent that those teams had on offense...we can only dream about that now.

Ray Jauch was cut throat. He never hesitated to cut a veteran if he felt he could bring in somebody better. I remember when he traded popular  Winnipeggers Gord Patterson & Leo Ezerins to Hamilton in 1980. The fans were not happy.

Everyone in here talking about old-time football. WTF was going on in 1975.

From the game notes for tomrorow

Winning With 3 Completions: The Blue Bombers won last week despite having just 3 completed passes on 8 attempts for 54 yards and a 9.4 Rating. The last club to win a game with 3 or fewer completed passes came on September 24, 1975. That day Winnipeg was again involved when they were just 2-of-11 for 62 yards and yet defeated Hamilton 34-32. With Chuck Ealey at QB, Winnipeg rushed 54 times for 349 yards that day. Of Note: Hamilton went 3-for-12 in a 1974 game and won 11-10 over Ottawa.

8 Pass Attempts: Last week Winnipeg attempted just 8 passes for 54 yards and a 9.4 Rating. The last time that ANY CFL club tried as few as 8 pass attempts was by Winnipeg themselves on August 26, 1975 vs Calgary. That day behind QB Chuck Ealey they tried 8 passes completing 4 for 99 yards in a 25-22 win. That day they ran the ball 39 times for 237 yards.

Lesson here is, when the Bombers throw less than 10 times they have a perfect record.

Don’t usually expect much from these type of petitions but it won’t hurt

....yeah the older fans getting a little upset...Change is constant BUT the league forgot the CFL is steeped in a traditional past and present.... that's going to be hard to skate around

I remember that game. That was Ealey's last game as Bomber QB. He was traded to the Argos & the Dieter Brock era began.

Likely wanted to be freed from here and said no more..he won't be teamless long

so sad, such a complete waste free agency was. I believe we brought in some talent, but just wasted it. wtf do you even bring in Jjones when you have tjones/kyrie and won’t play him if either stays healthy? We have ayers and the canadians too. Even Woodbey, who could play wil mac or all the db spots.

More teams are going towards canadian lbers and tweeners at lbers and it’s becoming a less and less critical position. That said, I think Woodbey is exactly what teams should be looking for at one of the two lber spots especially at mac. Just like how biggie gave our Ds soo much versatility being able to pick guys up and carry deep. He’d be great at sam, or as a full time Wil.
If, we don’t waste him.

Meh he was good in Toronto, lost his job there, couldn’t crack a spot here, it’s not like there wasn’t an opportunity here to some degree because Younger likes using several linebackers in his schemes.  Woodbrey who started lower on the pecking order surpassed Jones over time and just had an outstanding game.
