All the talk of kick return changes amount to nothing. Bit surprising, think they should’ve tested some option in pre season.

They'll prolly watch the NFL kickoffs this season to help determine if they want to go that route.

These are the changes for the upcoming season:

The league also announced it was ratifying other rule changes for 2024 directly relating to low blocks and decisions made by the command centre.

Low blocks have been adjusted to further define the actions of a backfield player delivering a low block. Backfield players may block a defensive player low who is lined up across, from, or outside of the offensive tackle at the snap if the block occurs in the legal low block zone. The league also removed the requirement for the backfield player to be within the legal low block zone at the snap to make the call easier to officiate, while also heightening player safety by limiting who can be legally blocked low.

No yards has now been added to the list of penalties that can automatically be picked up by the command centre if called incorrectly by on-field officials. Replay officials can only become involved when a clear mistake has been made.

Tripping the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage has also been added to the list of penalties that the command centre can assist on and is now challengeable by a coach.

Coaches are allowed to strategically use a timeout to provide the command centre with more time to automatically review a play that is not challengeable, though only one timeout can be used after the three-minute warning in the fourth quarter. Coaches still only have access to two timeouts per game.

Vince Magri, AGM and top talent bird dog for the Argos, is gone to a scouting job with the Bill's. Massive hit to the Argos front office. One of the league's top scouts. The blows just keep coming. Karma?

Stiggers, Oakman among others and the really good past 3-4 CFL drafts that were the fruits of his recruiting.

Argos have had good recruiting for years. They were among the first teams to start more Americans on their OL. Due to Canadians like O'Shea on D - IIRC

This is totally laughable.  Farhan is almost suggesting that the CFL should pay Rourke's salary since he would help drive up ticket sales across the league.

He talks about Rourke selling tickets to Stamps games in 2022. Well, the Lions' 2 games in Calgary averaged 22300 fans. The Bomber game for comparison had over 25k.

Farhan is going into the HOF. What a joke. An embarrassment to the legacy of true media.

There’s not much point. Rourke is still going to exhaust his nfl aspirations and then he will come back and play in the cfl on a contract that fits within the context of the salary cap.

did teams not have the ability to pay Flutie, Garcia, Dickinson and Burris whatever they wanted when they left for the nfl?

I’m not a fans of the changes. Special teams is a big part of the Canadian game and gives great opportunities for Canadian players to make the team based on their special teams acumen. I would not want to see the cfl alter or diminish the return game.

CFL field is longer and wider. Don’t think the kick return stuff is as big of a deal on the bigger field. In the nfl they kicking the ball through the end zones. I don’t think cfl kickers can do that here.

Maybe the Chadwick redemption ain't going too well ????

Or they know his appeal will probably not hold up and they need some sort of plan for the first 6 weeks (minimum) of the season. Arbuckle isn't great but he's got way more experience than Dukes does

A few guys (like Bede) can and have kicked the ball through the endzone on a kickoff. The rule changes last year meant that it will be worth a point if it goes through untouched.

Magri was a rising star in the CFL. Sure the Argos have had past success, Magri was an integral part of their current success. He is the second scout they lost this year too.

They all can in the nfl tho. Plus we have no yards and other things that they don’t.

elk grab a pretty good raw prospect for an 8th rounder. Surprised no one offered more what better value do you get with 6th or 7th

His pro day was attended by Edmonton Elks’ scout Ric Serritella, the creator of NFL Draft Bible who is based in New Jersey and was recently hired by the team.

Elks gonna get better.
