I as gonna say the exact thing....and doesnt hurt to have a backup place kicker in case of an injury...a global punter is a waste unless he is something special and consistantly swings the tide of game in your favour (and that Global would be down south anyway)...a DL guy...DB...gives you way more benefits, and an overall better roster

Probably not in the budget to pay Castillo and Legghio.  Don't know how much Legghio made last year but it was more than a global.

prob wouldnt have been much as he was on his rookie deal still.....cutting him loose to go with a rookie punter maybe not the best use of roster

Don’t they still have that 35 year old punter from the Bahamas from last years PR around? Karl Von Schmitz or whatever his name was?

Ended the season on the pr (unless he was cut before idr) which makes him a fa, who we haven’t signed.

Liegghio's punting cost them a Grey Cup.  I think he was basically done here after that game.

Offence lost. You don’t win gcs in the modern era scoring in the low 20s with less tds than the other team. 2 games, 419 passsing yards 2 picks 0 passing tds. That’s how you lose gc games. Fajardo put up 290 3 tds and 1 pick.

It’s an offensive, passing league. The two loses blame starts and ends at qb. Other players and positions could’ve won the game for us. But we lost it on offence.

Not a lot of fresh talent here. Hope the couple guys brought in are good because Biggie is on the downslope.

Offense lost but the D still allowed Cody @$%!ing Fajardo to put up 3 TDs on them.  Almost like it is a team game or something and not all the blame can be put on one player.

He was crap punting in the grey cup,  but overall he was solid through the year at punting.

Yup fortunate yet unfortunate.

Fortunate in helping us get to the show then unfortunately fell apart when we needed it the most.

Isn't he like 45? Talk about wasted potential.

How old is bob cameron? No doubt still the best punter in winnipeg the last year.

did we not have a Canadian punter in camp last year...who basically got bypassed and ignored as our coaches were all gaga over goofy Ausie style kicks? and then continued with it as our coverage on teams enhanced their suck all yr?

We should have just had Castillo kick long bomb field goals with lotsa hang to allow our coverage guys to get down there as opposed to last year where the returner had usually 20 yards of free space to get to top speed and find the seams before we had anyone relatively close to disrupting the return...let alone make a tackle...we sucked so bad last year...was embarrassing

Bighill would do better and last longer if the d-line kept the 340lb behemoths off him. Which is another way of saying we need a dominant nose tackle.

We could have had a Nathan Rourke in the mid 2000s.

Fans have been saying that since 2022 but the braintrust says nope.

If he dies, he dies.

I think they clearly tried to bring in some nose tackles since stove left. Just doesn't seem like they have found what they wanted in one. They were really hard stuck on walker last year too.

I can imagine being a nose in the cfl isn't easy. Unlike the NFL you will have to run and move a lot more and can be stuck on the field for a lot longer. Might be that they haven't felt comfortable with the ability of the bigs abilities to stay on the field and remain effective.
