Thanks for posting this.

honestly it looks really good. Few guys we need back but a lot of great work done by the front office already. You always go into fa these days with a couple guys you really want back not under contract.

Yoshi couture jeffcoat sayles and demski are big needs. Mcg Darby grant Bailey and ellingson all various degrees of want back. The ni lbers would be nice too.
I think grant is gone though. Probably Darby too.

my quick thoughts on must signs and would be nice...

Must Sign: Sheed, Demski, Yoshi, Jeffcoat, Couture, Grant
Would be Nice: Briggs, Darby, Gauthier, Sayles, McRae, Miller (let's be honest, he's either a Bomber or retired)

Yoshi is guaranteed.

I'm not super sure about Grant and Darby - just because salary cap. I feel good about Grant though, probably just looking for NFL opportunities last year.

Maston's money can go to Darby.  They couldn't fit both guys in last year & they went with Maston... given his injuries, I'd be surprised if they go that route again.  Grant might be tougher but we'll see I guess.

The only reason I'm worried about Darby is because that's how it played out last season. I hope he's more of a priority this season but we've also shown an incredible ability to scout DBs. The only reason he was even needed this past season was the number of injuries (which led to uncovering a lot of depth).

Every year Grant is a late signing. He even stated that it was always going to be NFL or Winnipeg in the Sun last year. He keeps his options open as long as he can, and the Bombers seem to be alright with that.

Darby can fit our SMS this year, last year we let him walk because of Maston coming back. I would think Maston is a non-issue this year, as even if he signs with us his contract will not be high after his injuries. He is in a very poor negotiating position.

I really don't see Sheed, or Jeffcoat as must signs tbh. I'd love to get JJ back, but he has to come cheaper than last year.

I think this means Demski is going to sign tomorrow.......

More proof Suitor is an absolute moron.  It's the CFL, every single agent knows well in advance what kind of offer their clients will get.  The whole idea of opening day of FA being like Christmas morning for these guys is ridiculous.

There is a one week window prior to FA to field offers for all players. Maybe Demski listens to a few to get his market worth, but I guarantee that he wants to be a Bomber.

The question is, what's his price to reconsider, and are there other clubs willing to hit that point?

Grant was a late signing last year, correct? Well into FA?

it might have even been into camp, or close to it. He held out for a long time and, I believe, might have even considered retiring....but decided to come back for another run. But it was super close to the season before they had him signed.

The price to us is going to be much lower than somewhere else. We will have to pay him well, but everyone else hoping to get him is at a serious disadvantage. If the Riders, or Jones, are going to throw big money at him I see no reason why we wouldn't pay him what he feels is fair to stay home. Demski is a non issue imo, one of the FAs I am least concerned about really.

He said he was waiting until the last minute for the phone to ring for the NFL but was preparing to come to camp in the CFL and was ready and had worked out his numbers already with the Bombers long before he signed.  He signed in mid April iirc. Teamers, even great returners, are not generally massive contracts and I don't see Grant's salary being one that will cause us any SMS issues. He will get paid well as a returner, but generally that is not a big contract in the grand scheme of things.

Losing Sayles would be a kick to the gonads after time put in.
