To no one's surprise:

China Concealed ‘Severity’ of Virus to Hoard Medical Supplies: Intel Report

China “intentionally concealed the severity” of the coronavirus in the early days of the outbreak so the country could hoard medical supplies such as face masks and gloves for itself, according to a Department of Homeland Security intelligence report obtained by the Associated Press. Chinese officials ramped up imports of medical supplies while limiting shipments of their stock by “denying there were export restrictions and obfuscating and delaying provision of its trade data,” a report analysis states. The country sought to hide information in January from the World Health Organization that the virus “was a contagion” so it could stock up on protective equipment, the report further alleges.

Trump Says 80,000-100,000 Americans Will Die, Calls That a ‘Success’

President Trump on Sunday radically revised upward his estimate of how many Americans would die from the novel coronavirus, saying that anywhere between 80,000 and 100,000 people could die—after he cited a death toll of 50,000 to 60,000 roughly two weeks ago. “That’s one of the reasons we’re successful, if you call losing 80 or 90 thousand people successful,” Trump said in a Fox News town hall at the Lincoln Memorial.

Two weeks it will be revised to 150k, then 200k then ever upwards to eventually meet whatever they are currently at and he will pat himself firmly on the back for the great success.

He already did the "100,000-200,000 will be a success, because it could have been millions" speech a month ago, so he already set his goalposts before. He also saved "billions and billions of lives because of the China travel ban" - very impressive for a country of 330 million.

Well, one way or another.....there will be a triumph held in Washington....

A bigly, huge, tremendous parade, in an endless victory lap, that will put Putin and Kim to shame, while celebrating this amazingly terrific success story.  Featuring a Grand Leader float, with Trump, wearing an Orange toga, and having some lackey holding a wad of dollar bills over his head.   The procession will end up in the Senate House, with Trump being declared dictator, by acclimation, while heavy armed MAGA types ring the building.   Afterwards, a giant bonfire of science books.

America is being run by self serving fools who have no idea what to do and have put people in key positions who don't know what they are doing, case in point Jared Kushner

In all seriousness, is there anyone in the Trump administration who actually is competent? On a related, but sad note, I had my ears lowered this morning at a new barber who still had Trump memorabilia all over his shop. Worse yet, he was playing C&W music and I could feel my IQ falling with every song.

Probably not, Trumpy doesn't like hearing bad news so he gets someone to fire people who deliver said bad news.

Trump's alma mater, the Wharton School, has released a new model which projects that reopening the states now will result in 233,000 additional deaths from the virus by the end of June. Since many states will not completely reopen and others will stay locked down for some time, the actual number probably won't be that bad. But make no mistake — it's going to go up, possibly way up, as states open up willy-nilly and many individuals decide they aren't going to bother with social distancing guidelines anymore. It's already happening.

Trump's business genius is at it again.

A Trump administration model projects a rise in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the weeks ahead, up to about 3,000 daily deaths in the U.S. by June 1, according to an internal document obtained by The New York Times.

The projections represent a significant increase in deaths. Over the past week, about 2,000 Americans died per day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

And what will be more frustrating is how some will interpret areas with lower numbers of deaths and infected than projected.

It won't be interpreted as prevention strategies are working, i.e., good social hygiene, use of masks/face shields, appropriate physical distancing, adherence to no large social gatherings, stay home when you can, large # of accurate tests completed, tracking strategies in place to monitor hot spots etc).

No, it will be interpreted as I told you so, deep state, hoax, where my guns be, lets roll.

Packing plant employees should all walk out if testing and PPE is not available.

More than 370 workers at a pork plant in Missouri tested positive for coronavirus. All were asymptomatic

(CNN)373 employees and contract workers at Triumph Foods in Buchanan County, Missouri, have tested positive for coronavirus. All of them were asymptomatic, according to a press release from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The state of Missouri has reported 8,386 cases and 352 deaths statewide as of Sunday night, according to the Health Department Website.
Triumph, a pork processing plant, is located in St. Joseph, on the border of Missouri and Kansas.
It is just one of dozens of meat packing plants and food processing facilities across the country that have seen outbreaks of the virus, forcing shutdowns and sparking concerns of possible food shortages.

I’m not sure what the argument is for in favour of putting the health of economy before health of people with numbers like that.

I think what we’re seeing is trump (or someone close to him since he’s obviously a brain addled idiot), has figured out that a depression will play worse than the deaths.
