Damn, is Masoli a good qb?

Bighill was a fireball there. So... is that what Hurl should have looked like?  I bet the Riders look at Demski and wonder what Jones is thinking.  Demski >>>>>>>>Hurl.

Sort of.  Needed one more first down on last Bomber drive to end the game, didn't even need a TD or FG, just one more first down to run the clock out.  TD would have ended it too.  Couldn't do it.

D won the game.  D made it a game, special teams on the whole won field position battle, O only scored on short fields short of one drive early in 3rd.

Nichols 13 of 24. 180.

Masoli likely had 300.

Turnovers kill Masoli.  Also takes a lot of sacks and loses yards if he's contained in the pocket.  How many yards for loss did the D put up tonight?  60?  The D nearly split the difference in yards between our O and theirs by sacking Masoli a ton.

That was as ugly as the annual Miss Melville Seed Spittin' Pageant

Lapo almost lost the game for us.  Even Rod Black said that the Bombers offence needs return to a possession game and move away from the high risk long game.

Thanks to the defence for tightening up when they needed to.

Do you honestly believe the OC tells nichols to throw deep? Cmon. Those long throws are on Nichols.. He had guys open 10 15 yards up field on those 35 yard throws. Coordinators call a play.. The play likely isnt throw to Adams in double coverage tho.

It's pretty clear that the deep ball was the gameplan tonight because it's not like Nichols favours the deep balls ever.  Nichols hits 2-3 of those it's a different game.

Clearly the Bombers have a lot of playmakers, and guys in waiting.  Look at Petermann.  As always, Lapo needs to simplify and avoid tipping off the opposition through formation.  When he trusts his players and uses misdirection to give them that extra split second to gain space this offense is great.  We aren't going through the West on Nichols arm.  We have a chance with Harris, Demski, Adams, Dressler, Streveler (in a change of pace package), maybe Flanders coming in soon.  Nichols is a point guard, not a Kobe.

On the roster....if Dressler is out, I dress Flanders as a DI, start Petermann (use Simonise a bit too), start both Leggett and Fenner on D, secondary would be Randle-Sayles-Leggett-Alexander-Fogg-Fenner (SAM).  Could dress Tylor Henry over Augustine if they feel short at receiver.  Loffler can play a role as a backup, throw him in as a rover on passing downs.

Defense played well, ST played well, Nichols did not.

Lol I find it funny people are all the sudden bagging on Lapolice for calling deep balls when the knock on him is that he calls too many check down passes.  You just can't have it both ways.

I just didn't understand why they didn't keep going short passes when clearly Matt could not hit  **** all tonight?   Also why we not running a series or two with Streveler when Matt is clearly struggling?

I thought Masoli made some good plays but also had help in the 1st quarter with some horse shoes up his ass and some nice plays by Banks.   He made at least 2 - 3 wild throws that we would of freaked out if Matt made those same plays.    He definitely does not handle pressure well....  he tossed up a few blind balls that could of easily been pick 6's had our guy been a bit closer to the ball.

That early game, extra violent facemask on Nichols might have put him off his game.

You could see him trying to shake that off, maybe he couldn't.

Alex Smith. CFL version.

Sure you can. You do what the game dictates. It's one of the fundamental aspects of football. Not a difficult concept.

There is always a primary receiver for every play call an no I  couldn't tell you who it is.  But we weren't moving the ball and the field was starting to flip in the cats favour.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the deep ball wasn't working.  It's on Lapo to start calling plays where the primary receiver is short to mid range.  Nocholls has never been the long ball QB. It's not his strong suit.  Yes he can throw the deep ball and yes it must be part of the repertoire but it's up to the OC to notice whats working and not and adjust the play call to focus on the short game.

From my vantage point here Nichols is just looking off tonight. Not seeing open guys in the mid range and out wide and forcing things...should change it up with Strevs

What is it about the Hamilton defence that makes Nichols look so bad? Nichols looked like a rookie out there and he was fortunate to not have been picked off 2-3 times. Apart from Harris turning in his usual stellar performance, the whole offence was off.

Theres no ugly in this win. Bombers fought hard for it. They deserve the win.

No we don't.  They don't play the same position either in case you didn't know

Nichols did not have a good game.....he needs to be better to be considered a Cup contender...I'm not sold on Sayles …. Banks was money and made Randal look like chump change...didn't care for his play in that one....We still have some holes on this club that are keeping us out of the winners circle...Bighill was top notch...easily the best MLB in the league and heading for MVP...Can't say enough about Harris...he's a one man wrecking machine when he gets the ball and he made the Cat defenders look very inept on more than one occasion...Overall I think we should be pleased with the effort and second place headed for the top rung ain't too bad at all

I believe he was alluding to the fact they are both Canadian. Could have kept Demski and found a better MLB.

That would only matter if the riders knew how to use their talent on offense. About the only play the riders can run is pitch it up and hope roosevelt makes the catch.
