Regular Season Bomber News & Discussion

Training Camp is over, the roster has been set, and the biggest Q is who should MOS start at QB.

The Bomber Brass are comparing notes on that and have yet to decide so its not clear cut by any means. The default is Ross by a nose but we could have 3 legit thoroughbreds in our stable all at once.

I personally believe Steveler has the most upside based on pure talent, scrambling pizzazz, and the ability to see the whole field. He is also the most likely to turn the ball over and make gigantically good plays. Ross will protect the ball best and run the short game well.

Ross may have played the most regular season downs but Bennett has the most experience especially in the Bomber system. I can see us saying later in the year "why didn't we start using Bennett earlier?" He is my pick for short yardage QB but I would be happy with Steveler in that role too.  My best guess: Ross starts but Steveler comes in as soon as Ross has two or three bad series in a row.

Five years in and can’t find receivers?  How about wondering why every year there are intriguing or exciting receiver prospects in camp (this year Corey Washington sits idle), yet our coaching staff either cuts them or strands them on the practice roster... while scrubs like Lankford get the tap on the shoulder??

We find guys, but yeah the coaching staff tends to fall in love with awful offensive/defensive guys who play teams and can fill a minor role. its time for an end to the stankford experiment.

Lankford has 17 games as a Blue Bomber with 22 catches for 278 yards and 3 tds. For comparison's sake, JFG was better last year and Kolhert has 4 seasons that are better.

Is Myles Whyte still on T.O. practice roster - wonder if he'd come back?

A bit worried we'll head into next week with Lankford as primary SB...

he is listed on the active roster. id love to have him back while dressler recovers.

Are you sure that's not mostly games as a backup receiver... and actually only a handful of starting games?

Id rather see the NIs rotate in more with demski, demski take full time KO return duties and carry any one other then lankford. Hes a worse option in returns, and at wr.

MOS and co will trot out Lankford and meanwhile Edmonton's depth receivers are Mitchell and Hazelton and Calgary has Michel and Begelton. If only a reporter would ask Walters a tough question such as "Why are we five years into your regime and you still can't find american receivers?"

Walters loves Canadians, which I don't have a problem with. Besides, he got us the sure-handed speed burner, Lankford.

Speaking of speed, have you seen Petermann's 40 yard dash time?

Curse you for pointing out the obvious and potentially embarrassing our head coach and OC. Logic has NO place here.

I know everyone's losing their mind on OSh... and I agree...

But 2009 is still fresh in my memory where The Genius kept cutting our top receivers basically on a 'hunch' about new talent coming in...

be careful what you wish for

That was on a notoriously slow testing ground too. He easily would have run a very fast time by nfl standards other wise. Iirc his fast time was 4.4.

According to reports, there’s a ford out there on the fielid with the offence.

Unfortunately, it’s lanky and is not a car..

Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming

Ryan Lankford is still working in place of the injured Weston Dressler.

W..... T...... F?!

Has everyone given up the season that they want to play all these rookies?

There is still a full half season to go and the Bombers may very well make a run.  Do you have any idea what Calgary and Saskatchewan defenses will do if they got to play a rookie (as in no pro experience anywhere) QB and two rookie receivers (one fresh from CIS the other from the juniors)?

I get over-reaction Monday, but it is now Tuesday.  Maybe common sense should prevail.

Lankford has never evolved from being a rookie.  Makes the same rookie mistakes, mistakes most rookies wouldn’t even make like letting kickoffs roll on the turf.

What rookie receivers are you referring too?

A line-up with Adams..Wolitarsky, Tompkins, Demski and Washington rather than Lankford is hardy conceding the season...nor does it fit your above comment.

In my opinion that is our best line-up we could field this year with whats on the roster...why they havn't given this set-up a chance blows my mind

Sure O'Shea, sure Lapo, keep playing Lankford. Maybe the light bulb will click and he'll come through and maybe Adam Sandler will win a Best Actor Oscar.

wasn't the loyalty to Lankford part of the reason that TJ Thorpe asked for his release??  or was that 2 years ago?  he would look decent in the current offence!

lol, it's getting harder and harder to keep admitting that this coaching staff/GM have even a hot clue on what it takes to build a winner but I won't give up hope as promised. C'mon you guys let's sing the Bomber fight song.....

Does that go, "I'd rather be a Bomber than a ******* RoughRider..."?

BC sucks, BC sucks

This current gang of coaches believe you go to the wall with inferior players like Lankford until it hurts.... *see Roc Carmichael of 17...Hurts us on the field, standings and hurts the club in the locker room...You can't tell me that players aren't noticing the fact we have better on the roster and yet continue to beat a dead horse.... I don't know if they'll play Lankford again against the stamps BUT if it is the case, higher ups like Miller must be wondering what the hell is going on here

I almost yelled at the radio (it really wasn't the radio's fault) when I heard that while driving. Either this forum to a man (sorry iHeart) is seriously deluded or senility has struck the Bombers coaching staff. I don't know whether to feel angry, sad or resigned.
