I think that this is the most powerful reason to like what Walters did.

  • Mini camp invite to the Giants is basically extended to every Canadian draft prospect with a pulse around this time of year.

  • Please no white receivers from Saskatchewan ....

Sask got one player for 2018 in Micah Teitz.  That's a yikes.

I wonder how Brett Blaszko feel right now?

Like the luckiest man on earth to have even gotten a chance to play pro?

3 OL, 3 WR and a DB.  Beefing up the depth behind our Canadian starters.

A big mean S, 1 huge mean OL with good feet, and 2 very gifted wrs who could make the roster this year. Thats a pretty good haul for getting bcs first next year, and wolitarski too.

Not surprising. The CFL just bullshits about the qbs every year & never does anything to change things.

Did we actually trade down from #7 to #12 & pass on some promising OL to draft Simonise? That I don't get. Especially with the players we have now at the receiver positions.

Not overly happy with our draft this year.

Wasn’t about Simonise.

We did need depth behind the three top cdn WRs.  Might have gone a little overboard, though.

I really think Walters thought Shepley and Hunter would fall...

You think?  Or are you thinking Moisan?

Pierre looked pretty damn skinny at the combine.

That is the guy I was thinking about whoopsie daisy. Haven’t quite caught up on the draft yet - did he get picked?

#51 (round 6 / 9th) by Mtl - WR Etienne Moisan

Pretty sure Walters thought Shepley and hunter would still be on the board...

id take banner and Mackie over simonise... but that’s about it...

in fine with this draft - it’s pretty shallow anyway

Wow, don't know you can read mind. ?

I think only Simonise and Petermann are sticking around this year. The rest goes back to school as they all have eligibility left.

In part we won't be able to evaluate this draft until 2019 when we see who we land with BC's pick.

Who among our current NAT OLs are on the last year of their contract ?

pretty much. i feel like the tsn panel on the site talked half the night about it too. I thought maybe atleast the riders would draft picton.

We traded out of this years draft in order to get what should be a top pick from bc next year and to slightly move up in the 2nd this year. It was the 6th best OL, or the 2nd best wr (in our books). the draft was deep at a few positions. We also just missed out the dbs, that could have been our hope. Plus we had no way to predict petermann would fall soo far too. We want to start 2 NI wrs. In previous years we started who ever we had or could scrounge from other teams. Now we will have a legit battle for a couple years between 3 highly talents star potential guys.

Kind of a sign that this year's draft is a big 'meh' when we can't even really fight about anything ha...

not really how the pundits rank the draft....

Possibly, but I think the opposite is more likely - that Walters was pretty certain the guys he really wanted wouldn't be available by pick #7.  That he had a small group of guys in his "elite" tier, Chapman and a couple of the Olinemen perhaps, and a much bigger group of guys in his "pretty good" tier.

And since he had very little chance of landing an elite player in this draft, why not move down 5 spots, get a pretty good player much like we would have gotten anyways, and get a pick in next year's draft that very realistically could be a top 3 pick?  That way we actually can turn our pick this year into landing an elite player.

It's just a theory, one that makes sense to me.

And after all, otherwise next year we wouldn't get to pick until 9th.

That said, this Bomber draft class fell well outside of what we would consider to be the norm.
