Biggest Rivalry in the CFL: Regina Winnipeg

So says Dave Naylor on 1290 today .... its a great way to start the season he says

Personally, I don't think Saturday's game this week is going to be any cake walk:

Regina has a game under their belt and has already started to make adjustments .... we are still getting organized

Neither do we have psychology on our side in this stadium opener ...

Regina's strength (receiving) is going up against our biggest weakness from last year as borne out by the stats (passing yardage yielded)

Jones is going to focus on exposing Hurl ... trapping him until he won't even realize whats going on

What we do have going for us is the game in the trenches and that should show up by the fourth Quarter

We also have the Kevin Glenn choke factor where a seemingly competent QB gives one up at this worst possible moment

I think we manage to eke out a strange squeaker by the tiniest of margins and I would rather be lucky than good (even as we make our own luck)

I don't believe the Blue are ready to blow anybody away just yet; but by labor day who knows...

  • I think I've literally just about had it with internet Rider fans. There are quite a number of them (CalgaryRiderFan, Beacon.x, Bingo_Arms, Huff Daddy and several others whose names just elude me righ

  • Is there a question in there somewhere? I'm often left wondering what the intended response you're aiming for is. bombers win. easily. I'm going and they'd never let me down.

  • Yep the Riders are only a quarterback, kicker, head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, a couple halfbacks, a running back, and a couple linebackers away from having a competitive tea

Listening to 1290 right now, Bauming has this woman from CJME or some communist radio station in Regina on.

Honestly I just couldn't stop cringing for her, couldn't even muster up enough to even suggest the Riders could improve in one area. Is Sask being run by Kim Jong Il (Jones)?

LOL... @Rod Black holding no punches when it comes to the Sask relatives...

It's even worse that he's saying that about his brother and sister.

Even Rod Pedersen was stretching hard this morning for positives. In fact, most of the "positives" for Riders were negatives about comments that the Bombers were making. Almost like he was trying to manufacture bulletin board material.

I usually turn TSN 1290 off when Rod is on but I couldn't reach the radio. I still have headache.

I think it's his wife's fam.

Otherwise...

Bauming was asking if there was one area where they could improve, this woman proceeds to say well the dbs because they lost Justin Cox, then proceeds to say how great they are for picking up JJ. Finishes off by gushing over the no name linebacker replacing Henoc who isn't even a MLB by the way (played weak side last year).

But who had played MLB in the past!

Made it seem like Muamba was in Eguavoen's way and that this might be an upgrade.

I caught that too, all i could say was wow..... The entire time lol.

When did Eguavoen play MLB? Was a WIL last year. College? High School?

I think she said college, I was too busy smashing my head into my keyboard at that point though.

I got a feeling that Chris Jones will cheat on the ratio and just eat the fine whatever the amount is.

Edited by M.O.A.B.

it will be continually penalized during the game....so not a good option on his behalf

I think they got caught during a game last year did they not?

Multiple times iirc

just another in the long list of reason's why he is such a d-bag...Tired of his all in black look on the sideline too...not sure what thats about

They could also go two NI DTs at times, play a NI like Judge or Francis at LB in a rotation, play Hecht and Edem together.

Maybe the league ought to institute a rule that if a team does not honour the ratio rule in a game, if the offending team wins, they lose the win, and if they violate the rule and still lose, they get slapped with a hefty fine or have to play the next game with one fewer import player on the field.

Now, as 17to85 and I were just discussing, I wanna believe this is going to be an awesome beat down by the Bombers, but there's still that little part of me that's a Bombers fan who's seen some **** over the years, and has seen this exact situation bite us in the ass before. Games we should win handily, and still we find a way to lose, because we can't have nice things.....

I'm fine with the league giving us a first round pick from Saskatchewan

My dad took me to my first CFL game at Taylor Field in 1966, Riders Vs Bombers. Lancaster vs Ploen. We sat in the endzone on wood bleacher seats. I still remember that amazing experience - the sights, sounds, smells and roar of the crowd - it was crazy. I was too young to do it but back then you could kill a mick of whisky in your seat and fire up all the stogies you wanted. Game ended in a tie. 11-11. That new Mosaic Stadium over there looks pretty nice but I bet a flask and stogies in your seat will get you arrested. So, in the old days they didn't have as much luxury as today. But, you know, there was character. Seen alot of CFL football since that first game half a century ago. Enough to predict that Bombers are going to be spoilers in that place and come home happy.

Yeah, I'd love for us to have a basically free #1 overall pick two years in a row.

Wife's family and sister's family are often the exact same group in Saskatchewan

Ha! Hell no. Sucked it up. Only time I ever puked at a ball game was watching Justin Goltz at QB at IGF in 2012.
