I don't think many critiques of her or her party are based on gender, but this party royally stinks. A lot of significant roles in the party are filled by horrid politicians. This government seems like a satire:

  • Minister of Indigenous Reconciliation and Northern Relations immediately comes to the defense of residential schools upon his appointment.
  • Former Health Minster Friesen attacking doctors saying they are attempting to create chaos by warning that measures should be taken to prevent waves of Covid.
  • Former Education Minister (Goertzen) participates in webinar advocating for home school while education minister - of Indigenous Reconciliation and Northern Relations immediately comes to the defense of residential schools upon his appointment - "Education isn't simply a state activity — maybe shouldn't even be primarily a state activity,"
  • Current health minister belongs to a church that has routinely publicly disobeyed public health orders, sued the government over health orders and Audrey Gordon herself was caught numerous times in violation of health orders.

It almost feels like they are intentionally mocking Manitobans sometimes. At the very least don't put people in charge of the very roles they obviously are completely unsuited for. This includes the current premier who was abysmal as the health minister during the worst wave of Covid and failed her way up to leader of the province.

This lot is way too stupid to deliberately stage a farce. They are afflicted with the idea that they are an elite ruling class who rule by divine right and have the franchise on wisdom and intelligence.

Spiro Agnew approves this message.

Lol!  Quoting , referencing spiro.

for those too young

Spiro Agnew, Nixon vice president:

Said

"In the United States today, we have more than our share of the nattering nabobs of negativism."

In 1973, Agnew was investigated by the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, bribery, extortion and tax fraud. Agnew took kickbacks from contractors during his time as Baltimore County Executive and Governor of Maryland. The payments had continued into his time as vice president; they had nothing to do with the Watergate scandal, in which he was not implicated. After months of maintaining his innocence, Agnew pleaded no contest to a single felony charge of tax evasion and resigned from office.

Ontario election today. The PCs have run an effective campaign and Ford has been quiet for the past while. The other two parties are splitting the centre and left vote, which should lead to another PC majority.

Ford is an absolute mess, but polling suggests a PC majority. Ontario progressives need to get their **** together...

I would love to see a summary/list of the apologies that this government has issued over the past year or so. For some reason I think it would be at least eight, so that's eight times where they spoke before they thought.

I don't think it is stupidity, but rather complacency or indifference. Most come from ridings and surround themselves with people that will hail anyone wearing PC colours regardless of what they do. They know they have little need to be responsible to the voters and have an apathetic attitude towards regular Manitobans. With a majority, there is little that can be done to stop them, but most will still keep their job after next election because they come from places that would never vote anything except Conservative. You know, socialism, the apocalypse, stuff like that might happen if those areas didn't elect a Conservative.

Would this include things they have said/done where they refused to apologize? Pallister basically defended the genocide of indigenous people saying that there were "good intentions" behind what they did and then refused to apologize about it. I can only imagine what the conversations in the party are like behind closed doors. The instances where they have apologized or should, have basically been because they forgot to filter their true beliefs when comments are for public consumption.

Totally agree. Just pointing out that when she took over it was to a collective groan. Kenney was immensely popular in the polls when he became leader of the UCP....and then he just plummeted. It takes a special kind of bad to have Alberta hating a right of centre premier.

As soon as Kenney won he thought he was the smartest guy in the room. He stopped listening & ran a top down govt when most of his base expected a grassroots bottom up political party. He brought in a lot of people from Ontario to run the govt & it alienated a lot of Albertans. The policies & style of government Kenney ran didn't connect with a lot of Albertans.

He got re-elected because he ran an effective campaign and the other two didn't. Neither opposition party gave a valid reason as to why they should be trusted over Ford.

Voter apathy also helped him get re-elected. Less than 41% of eligible voters in Ontario cast a vote: https://www.fairvote.ca/2022/06/03/pcs-form-majority-government-with-40-83-of-the-vote-ontario-voters-cheated-by-first-past-the-post/

Only 40.83% of Ontario voters supported the PCs, yet the voting system has handed Doug Ford’s PCs 67% of the seats and 100% of the power.

The election results were a gross misrepresentation of what voters said with their ballots:

  • The PCs got a landslide majority with just 40.83% of the vote. They won a whopping 83 seats―that’s 7 more seats than 2018 with only 0.33 points more of the popular vote.
  • The Liberal Party earned more of the popular vote than the NDP―23.85% vs 23.73%―but the NDP’s voters elected 31 MPPs and Liberal voters only elected 8.
  • Despite the support of almost one quarter of Ontario voters, first-past-the-post means the Ontario Liberal Party will again be denied official party status in the legislature, making it even more difficult for the party to represent its voters.
  • Greens increased their popular vote share from 4.6% in 2018 to 5.96% but still elected only one MPP (Mike Schreiner) to represent the 279,129 people who voted Green in Ontario.

Huge drop. 15 points, I believe. He had a voter suppression bill that really kept the campaigns quiet. PCs went out early and that was it. The Right of centre-middle (Liberals) and the left of centre-left (NDP) just fought each other.

Do the above figures included absentee ballots? I couldn't find an answer.

QAnon Queen of Canada Now Claims to Be Queen of the World

A QAnon influencer some people believe to be the true Queen of Canada took a quick break from her monthlong tour of the country to announce her intentions to go global.

“The entire team was privileged to hear Queen Romana speak to the United States Commander and Chief via telephone and hear the intel disclosed. Wait for it…. ” Romana Didulo’s press secretary told followers before taking a dramatic pause.  “Queen Romana is the leader of the world!”

Speaking in a Quebec campground parking lot on May 24, in front of a massive purple Queen Romana decal (which features a sword bifurcating a maple leaf) on Didulo’s new RV, the press secretary said this was a big development for the burgeoning leader, one that would bring them legitimacy, and she urged those who follow Didulo to stand up for their queen.

“Queen Romana has done all of the heavy lifting, and now it is up to ‘we the people’ to stand in our authority and put these decrees into place,” she told her followers. ”The only visible leader on this planet is her royal majesty Queen Romana, period, and that’s a mic drop.”

Didulo grew out of the online QAnon movement—which believes there is a secret war being fought against the elites—and has garnered a not-insignificant following by actually inserting herself in the real world created by this conspiracy. For months now, Didulo and a rotating cast of characters have been crisscrossing the country in a convoy—which they call their “mobile government”—building her community offline by meeting followers at almost every stop they make. They’re on the tail end of their second loop of the second-largest country in the world, as gas prices have reached record highs.

Didulo has issued, as of this week, 79 decrees. For the most part, the decrees have had little real-world impact, such as declaring Victoria, British Columbia (where she resides when not in the RV) the capital of Canada, and raising the age of consent to 24, although some followers bristled at that.

Speaking of despicable reptiles....again the court system provides the enabled protection whenever required.

Tax evasion charges dropped against former Calgary MP Rob Anders on Day 1 of trial

Until Monday, Anders faced five charges under the Income Tax Act for alleged activity between 2012 to 2018, including three counts of making false or deceptive statements, obtaining a refund he was not entitled to and evading payment of taxes.

Anders was accused of failing to report more than $750,000 in income over a six-year period including alleged offences which overlapped with his time in government.

Convictions come with maximum penalties of two years in jail and fines between 50 and 200 per cent of the evaded taxes.

Police and court documents allege fraudulent rental expenses, mystery deposits as well as $750,000 in unreported income and capital gains hidden from the CRA by Anders.

Private sector? Job with a liquour company after his latest bill?

He's also Minister of Natural Resources and Northern Development and the province has said the mining sector is open for business. I'd honestly be more shocked if his new job is not from connections made through politics. And then its just a matter of connecting the dots and seeing how the corporation has benefitted from this government in the past.

I have worked some jobs when I sign a term contract. If I ever decided to leave before my contract was up, I would likely be blacklisted or at the very least that would be a big stain on my resume. It seems odd to me when politicians were elected to serve a term and then just leave, especially if their party is in power.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/two-mps-defect-poilievre-1.6480338

Two Conservative MPs have defected from Brampton, Ont. Mayor Patrick Brown's team to support Pierre Poilievre, his main rival in the party's leadership race — a move that leaves Brown with just two MPs backing his candidacy.

Hamilton-area MP Dan Muys and MP Kyle Seeback, who represents neighbouring Dufferin-Caledon in the House of Commons, both announced Tuesday they're abandoning Brown for Poilievre. Their departures come after Poilievre's campaign said over the weekend that it has sold an eye-popping 312,000 memberships in the race for the party's top job.

Conservative sources told CBC News that roughly 600,000 party members will be eligible to vote in September's leadership election.

Despite competing claims of membership sales strength, Seeback and Muys signalled Tuesday they believe the winner is already known.

In a statement on social media, Seeback said he "believes there's one candidate ... who can unite conservatives and Canadians to become our next prime minister. That's Pierre Poilievre."

Muys, a rookie MP who was first elected to the Commons last fall, said Seeback "is right."

Muys said that while out campaigning with Ontario Progressive Conservative candidates during the recent provincial election campaign, he witnessed "divisiveness" and he suggested that the best way to heal those divisions is to "unify behind Pierre Poilievre."

"Canada needs him and us to get this done," Muys said.

Delusional fuckwits.
