I umpire baseball and I totally agree with this....the last thing an official wants to do is change the outcome of a game. I'll call a kid out on strikes if needed, but everyone has more fun if the players determine the outcome of the game, NOT the officials.

Adams asks if he is lined up properly, gets told he's good, flag called on him by the same ref.
That is some super sonic level of incompetency.

I've been involved in football since the mid '70's as a player, coach, board member, executive, gm, and even at times as a game official.  I normally tend to side with the game officials, because I know how tough it is to make every call, especially the "subjective" ones like holding and PI.    That being said, the player checked with the official, and the official "okayed" his position.  This is standard procedure from Atom to professional level.  I don't ever recall a "no end" flag being thrown well after the play, it is virtually always thrown right at the snap.   I thought the flag was going to be for an "objectionable conduct".

I really don't know what the story is, but I know when I worked as a game official, we always wanted to be fair, and were always instructed not to throw flags for meaningless penalties that could change a games outcome.  This type of "tickytack" flag is just wrong.   If there is something grossly wrong away from the play, you throw it.....a cheap shot, an intent to injure or other serious penalty, but not a guy being a foot back from the line of scrimmage at wideout after he checked with the official.

This really ranks as one of the worst pieces of officiating I've seen at any level.

I was very disappointed in both of the calls......"force out" and "no end". If the ref calling the no end isn't sure he should make the call, then he shouldn't make the call. These guys are very experienced refs, and at this level a simple call like that should be correctly made 100% of the time. And wasn't that ref #21 the older looking one?? I thought he looked too old and slow to even be out there!
As far as the force out call goes, I thought the guy looked like he was going to be out anyway, and didn't we see the exact same call made in Montreal with the opposite result last week?? So again the reff's have a problem.......they don't know what the correct call is.

...but on same series....gets a legal INT on deflection....
Cornish finding gaping holes to run through...
Stamps misdirection/play action calls ...thing of beauty...
Nice 40 yd throw and catch TD...Nichols to Adams....
Nichols throwing ball well in 1st half......
    ....finding Moore regularly...
Both teams moving ball pretty well in opening half
BLM getting too much time to throw.....
    14-14 at the half.....
    Adjustment time......
Bombers D ramp up the hitting, as game goes on.....
Big sticks by Bass, Westerman, Leggett, Adams and Washington.....
Cornish stuffed throughout 2nd half.....for negative yds....
    And the Bomber O?
    Uh.....18 yds offense in 3rd Q......
0 (yes, zero) points in first 28 minutes.... of 2nd half....
Stamps dial up pass rush...start crunching pocket on Nichols....
...with no play calls to counter it....par usual....

The Invisible Man....otherwise known as Clarence Denmark...
....finally runs deep downfield for a pass.....
...and gets called for offensive PI.....

Blue D gets the 2 and out......Bombers get ball on own 50....
Tthird and less than a yard, Nichols gets first down.....
...but Bombers called for illegal formation....NO END...
...forcing 50 yd tying FG attempt into the wind.....
    Hajrullahu pushes it wide right.......
Stamps inch out of town with the win......
    Bombers inch closer to irrelevance.....
Lots of controversy about that formation call.....
But then again..Blue would of probably found some way to lose the OT....
Because that is what they do......
I always find some way to drink the gin....
    ...for much the same reason..

How in mother nature's rib cage is it a reflection on O'Shea if a player has a brain fart?

My tongue in cheek comment was a substitution for calling out all the people who continue to ignore the bolded truth in what you said.  Tajh Boyd skyrockets up the depth chart before he's ever seen the playbook.  Cut everyone now!

Nichols is in his 5th year in the CFL and seems serviceable.  Trevor Harris is in his 4th.  Willy became a starter last year in his 5th.  And the fans in Winnipeg still act like CFL QBs are 3 minute oatmeal.

Robert Marve is a football god and it's a conspiracy that he is still on the bench what is that idiot OShea waiting for put him in already oops we ruined another one oh well hey look here's a shiny object so let's not learn any lesson we want Boyd! we want Boyd! we want Boyd! Tajh Boyd is a football god and it's a conspiracy that he is still on the bench what is that idiot OShea waiting for put him in already...

The Bombers signed a promising young QB with no CFL or pro experience today.  I'm hoping that is the last I hear about him for 3 or 4 years until he is ready to be a starter.  That is the best case scenario for the Bombers, and as long as Willy and Nichols don't lose 2 games in a row ever, maybe there's a chance it will happen.

You're not wrong, but liken it to the idea of a Petan level prospect after dealing with a bunch of Eric O'Dells.

If I'm not mistaken I believe this is the 4th time a Bomber QB has been injured this season on a questionable hit that went un-penalized by the officials.  Twice they have later confessed that they got the call wrong and fined the offending player.  On the Marve hit they used a ridiculous technicality to nullify a dangerous low hit.  The refs. have no clue when it comes to enforcing the "spirit" of the rule, which is to protect QB's from harm.

Can't recall who it was but last weekend a QB took a helmet to the chin and was checking for missing teeth, while the official looking on did nothing.  With each passing week the games seem to be getting worse as we witness inexperienced 2nd and 3rd string QB's compete at futility.  At some point this epidemic of QB injuries is going to harm the leagues bottom line and maybe then they will take it seriously.

A big key to keeping Nichols - getting him an OC who can produce a game plan that doesn't involve killing the QB.

The arrogance of some people to think that of he's not telling the media and fans what's going on, then he's not being accountable. What makes MOS a great coach, and one that players want to play for, is that he's accountable in private, and doesn't throw people under the bus publicly.

Considering that O'Shea has reportedly been getting more and more involved in special teams in the weeks leading up to this I don't think it's a stretch to think that this came from O'Shea himself. He saw a problem, tried to help and see if it got better without having to fire someone, it did not so he pulled the trigger.

I don't know why people think O'Shea is blind and doesn't know what's wrong with this team. I guarantee that he knows damned well what the problems on this team are, he's a smart guy even if he doesn't say it in the media.

I posted this into another thread, but Greaves was flat out awful today. I watched him directly give up 2 sacks in 3 plays. He was sat earlier for a reason, and that was pretty clear today.

You may want to review the offensice game stats before trying to defend that statements. Its probably not all his fault, but he was nowhere good enough to be a starter in any league except maybe the Lingerie League.

I believe we changed upwards of 20 players this year. We never win the Labour Day game, and we had to know the roughies would be fired up for their new coach. Our offence was putrid, and while it's the qb who executes the plays, he simply executes the play he's told to run. Brohm is not the answer, that's glaringly apparent. But MB gives the orders for the plays, and I, like many others, believe that this mess is primarily his fault. Fire him, promote from within, and move on.

There is not one NI on this team I wouldn't cut if that's what it took to get Muamba here. Hell there ain't many imports I'd want here ahead of Muamba. You have 1 job Walters, get it done.

MB as interim coach is the worst thing they can do really. Fans would truly give up then. Those who are left at least.
