Was the Holm penalty challengeable?

The Stamps owners do nothing. Absolutely nothing. The game experience sucks in a 63 year old building.
Not when a family of 4 would cost over $200 for a game.
Not bad for a family of 4.
Atmosphere at a live game is way better than tv.

I think it's more of a case of the pure football fan aging out. The NFL is also experiencing this.
Thankfully the gameday atmosphere has made it a much more appealing outing for the younger crowds.
Think the demograph of football fans is predominantly older white males.

I find it hard to believe that any Canadian network with ratings of 250-500,000 cable viewers & the advertising revenues it brings in for 20 some weeks would not want the CFL on their network.
TSN spent some money on production. Started Friday night football and broadcasting all the games. CBC did next to nothing.

Dont change the rules. We have a much more entertaining game to watch.
Ratio is another thing. Maybe allow for a certain number of Canadians.

I'm kind of trying to figure out what point you're trying to make here... literally not one single person has said Leigghio is perfect and no improvement is required... yet that's the premise you are arguing on... I think we're almost all in agreement that we need to see improvement from him next season and most of us would like to see competition in camp.
Agreed he needs to get better and competition is needed in camp. Not ready to give up on him yet but some posters seem to be in a bit of denial regarding his play so far. Thats all.

ps - Casey Sayles missed his block, otherwise we make that kick...
For sure. That kick was headed right down the pipe!!! lol

Wow and you guys complain about Rider fans????
10 minutes ago, GCn20 said:Judging by earlier kicks starting left was what he needed to do in that wind. The attempt did look low, but that is not uncommon for kickers to do on windy days either. We have zero idea whether his kick was good or not because an opposing player was able to get through the line almost unblocked and knock that kick down. Putting that on the kicker is wholly unfair.
You could gauge that from the 6 feet of distance that kick travelled and from a TV angle that wasn't straight away. Wow...you should be working for NASA.
Bad memory or memory bias? Food for thought.
Bad kicker???
We have a fragile kicker that played a big role in losing the Grey Cup. Go ahead defend him but he needs to get better. Deny that if you want.

Yeah, block for him so the kick doesn't get blocked. Reality is we don't know what would have happened with that kick had it not been blocked. It started left sure but tons of kicks do bend back. We can't say what would have happened. Fact is the kick was blocked so none of that matters. #1 problem on that play was the lack of blocking.
Don't kid yourself. It was going wide and low. Stop defending a horrible kick.
You must be bored.

What do you suggest the bombers do? Serious competition like who exactly? And how do you plan to fit them in the sms? Any rookie kicker isn’t going to be serious competition in their first camp in the cfl. Look at how long Sergio took to turn into a good pro.
I suggest the scouting department look into it. Lots of kickers out there. Same thing they do at all the other positions.

The lesson here is feels don't always equal reals. This is why it's important to show your work.
As Mike has shown early in the season they opted to punt from a short field, but nothing after that save a situational decision and one in the cold of a Grey Cup.
Hey Teach
Is there a lesson to be learned when their kicker chokes on a potential Grey Cup winning kick?

Since you guys asked and I'm bored ... I went through and looked at the statistics for every game. The amount of times O'Shea opted to punt instead of attempting a 45-49 yard field goal equals a grand total of zero
These are the only ones times we punted from 45 yards in or closer all year.
Week 1 - punted from OTT 45
Week 2 - punted from OTT 43
Week 3 - punted from HAM 45
WF - punted from BC 44 up 8 points with 2:02 left in the 4Q (that is to say, it would've been idiotic to kick a FG here)
GC - punted from TOR 43 in the 1Q down 3-0
My bad then. False memories I guess.

He DID improve....year over year, he's improved.....and he's young.......and with his background, there is a lot of reason to believe he will continue to get better. He's also doing all 3 duties, 2/3 of which he was among the best in the league. You, and the rest of the heavy mouth breathers that missing converts means we have serious kicking issues, need to relax and have some patience.
"You, and the rest of the heavy mouth breathers"
You need to show some class. Someone has a different opinion than yours and you throw out insults?
Trying to have an intelligent discussion. Don't bother responding if you just need to be right!

So is everyone here saying they are happy with the placekicking by Legghio? Keep going with his level of play? No need to bring in serious competition?
I'm not saying cut him today but I think he needs to improve soon.

How many times did he pass up chances for field goals of that length and what were the game circumstances when that happened?
I cant give you exact dates but conditions weren't an issue. It happening on a number of occasions and I remember thinking Oshea has no confidence in his kicker.

Also- I don't know of any current kicker that I would trust as much as Medlock, or near as much.
Absolutely.

If the bar is Justin Medlock some of you are destined to be disappointed in the kicking for a long long long time
What is your bar set at?
Under normal conditions I'm thinking a coach should feel confident sending out the kicker to attempt a 45-49 yarder. At least a 45 yard attempt he should be highly confident.
Third years for Legs coming up. He needs to show improvement.

Yeah, it says he really trusts his punter and downfield gunners to pin the other team deep...... though I'd love to see the hard numbers on how many times they were less than 45 yards and chose to punt (and what the wind conditions were that day)....
Or get a better kicker and take the 3pts. Funny how the strategy was different when we had a good field goal kicker.

He understands the high risk low reward situation of trying 50 yarders with regularity. Unless your name is Justin medlock.
Also note that in 22 the average nfl kickers make rate from 50 was just 72%. I would bet it’s handily 15-20% worse in the cfl in the last two seasons.
Then legs also hit from 55 last year and has 3 game winning 50s in his time here.A confederacy of dunces also generates a common consensus.
Yep. And he understands the risk of td or big returns on fg kicks that long.
Plus he has good reason to have faith in our defense holding teams that are pinned deep.
The amount of safety’s forced by the D directly or by stopping a team pinned inside the 10 is tremendous during the mos era. Not to mention turn overs and defensive tds.
personally I love the gamble to get a safety and the ball for our offense over trying a long fg.
Plus the option for teams to punt to grant with him getting the ball around center field is tremendous.
Unless the punt is shanked, or the other teams offense gets back to back first downs punting instead of trying a 50 yard field goal is generally a winning move. Especially here.
the punts I don’t like are the mid field ones. Our 50 to their 35 after the return isn’t a good exchange but one most every ones goes for. Especially on 3rd and 6-7 or less. A mostly automatic pass for collaros.
When a coach chooses to punt instead of a 43 or 45 yard field goal attempt then that says something about the kicker. Not questioning the 50 yard plus field goals.

No he values field position, big difference. He puts trust in Legghio to pin them deep, he puts trust in the D to do their job and he knows once we get the ball back on a short field we’re going to be putting up touchdowns more often then not.
He let Medlock do it but not Legghio. More like distrust in Legghio making the kick.

Maybe Drew Richmond will get on the active roster if we clinch 1st. Would be nice to get a look at him considering our import tackles aren't getting any younger.
